  1. who has the momsen carbon on special for R16k? and what is the spec?
  2. shot, i'm heading over to solomon cycles. i have called and they have the tools bit of a laugh the largest bicycle store in the southern hemisphere couldn't assist. and this after 2 weeks of phone calls and bringing the wheel in twice! total fail on cyclelab's part.
  3. now i have tried the ole flathead screw driver and a good wallop but it seems pretty jammed on there...
  4. no lock ring as far as i can see...
  5. Hi All, i have a Fiji Feather SS. lekker little pushy. however i want to remove the rear "freewheeling" cog from the wheel, this requires some sort of tool. the cog i have is a threaded cog. now i have tried cyclelab and for the past 2 weeks have been sent from piller to post by them. so i've essentially given up on getting help there. does anyone in the fourways area have a single speed cog puller who can assist me in removing this cog? here is what the cog looks like that i want to remove Thanks in advance!
  6. Oh dear looks like this might not happen at all. The hub is a 20 spoke hub, darkhorse is a 24 hole rear and 20 front. I imagine using a front rim on the rear would not be a wise idea...
  7. thanks guys!
  8. I'm in fourways area
  9. Hi all, I wanted to have a set of darkhorse 38mm wheels built up with a G3 powertap unit. Darkhorse themselves cannot build the wheel as they do not stock the correct spoke lengths. If I still wish to try darkhorse wheels out in this fashion I need to buy the rim from them, and then find a wheel builder with the right length spokes. Must admit I would have thought darkhorse would have put a bit more effort in with regards to a request like this. Anyway, I wanted to use darkhorse wheels due to them being so light. If however there are other wheels out there in the same price and weight bracket please let me know, maybe they can assist me properly. Otherwise, can anyone point me in the direction of a good wheel builder? Cheers
  10. i have personally been hijacked. had a knife held to my throat and my back by 2 individuals. i still dream of executing those mf's. since that incident i am so much more aware of my surroundings and have in a sense lost a little bit of the enjoyment when i go out on a ride. i even go so far as to ride in the middle of the road when passing people walking. i dont trust anyone anymore.
  11. either way whats the difference? Creatine builds up in the system. if you took it every day for 2 weeks and then stopped, its effects would still be in place 10 days later. this logic is used as creatine does make you hold more water, so train on it for short hard races (XCO), and then 10 days before the race stop using to shed the water but still benefit from the creatine. its the same as caffine, stop caffine 10 days before a short event and then on the day have a double esspresso. the effects of caffine on the body are incredible. at one stage caffine was a banned substance. - something to think about...
  12. so why is it not banned?
  13. could not agree more!
  14. ok so i used to race years back. havent been racing in over 5 years barring 2 arguses on a single speed. however for both of those arguses i was seeded elite?? no idea how. its a laugh of a system
  15. creatine works great for short sprint type rides. XCO mtb races are a good example. the short hard bursts to get up short steep climbs.
  16. sorry bud thats not cool! what bike was it? post a pic and all here will keep a look out for it
  17. so tempted by the DH wheelset myself. if you contact DH i do believe they will build you a wheel using different hubs
  18. on this note, i had to stop my LBS mechanic from stripping my crank because he was using the wrong tool... i have also had my cables recently changed at my LBS, i had to strip most of the cabling and redo it myself to get the shifting right! my cable was dragging where the outer had been cut leaving a sharp and slightly squashed end.
  19. some say he can walk into KFC, order a BIG MAC... ...and get a BIG MAC!
  20. simple solution: go faster!!
  21. lol my add. so going to add a disclaimer. that bike won multiple masters national champs and a masters african champs. so its fast!!
  22. ditch the lot and do it on a single speed! i did it last year on one and i dont think i will ever use a normal road bike again for this race! its was far to much fun! and i really had a blast doing it! the argus is far to pretty a race to "Race". do it at an easy pace and enjoy the atmosphere! stop and have a beer here or there, have luch in campsbay! use the entire alloted time to the max!! i got disqualified one year for taking to long! ride time was 3h30min but in total we took nearly 9 hours! lol
  23. agreed, i have nearly come off due to a sudden gust of wind a SBR. learned to just give myself more than enough space very quickly
  24. yes yes yes!!!
  25. people do try! they usually get booted out or suspended. hence the reason for this article. CSA is run like the mafia
