  1. With the various political goings on there was a little apprehension heading across the border for my first Lesotho Sky. While the organising team and other locals had given assurances that the media was making a meal of things, you’re still never quite sure until you are there. Click here to view the article

  3. Hi all, Utmost apologies for the repeated 500 errors this morning. With the changes to the site look n feel we've also made some adjustments to the server configuration in order to improve the site speed. Unfortunately some settings were incorrect which has caused the repeated crashes this morning under the Monday morning high traffic. We're working on this and will have things back to normal as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience. Matt
  4. Those will be back early this week. There are a few tweaks and additions still to be made through the week. So if something is missing or seems a bit off please let us know.
  5. Chrome should be working fine - again likely just an issue with old cached files. Deleting Chrome's cached files should resolve any issues: https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95582?hl=en
  6. It's back now - in the usual spot.
  7. Working on my end - latest FF on Mac Try clearing browser cache and reloading. It's possibly still loading old files.

  9. People often use the term "replica" as a more PC way to describe a fake. In most cases it's still fake and disclosing that fact doesn't make it legal. A true replica would be a licensed, legal product which looks similar to the real thing. E.g. A legitimate Springbok rugby supporters jersey would be considered a replica. Not a fake, but a look-alike of the real thing, produced by a manufacturer who has paid for the right to create and sell it. 11. Topic locked This has gone past any sort of constructive discussion. All comments will be reviewed and warnings issued where appropriate.
  12. Out of interest - were you guys running the 120tpi or 60tpi version?
  13. All covered in the review. Although no specific mention of burping, but I had no issues there with either rim tested.
  14. Hi Pitpaplo, Any indoor trainer activities not marked as such in Strava will be disqualified altogether. When an activity is marked as Stationary within Strava they will typically only use the total duration figure and ignore distance, calories, etc. When a Powermeter is used Strava will also include Calories as they calculate Calories based on the power output. We are doing some spot checks on the top contenders and will weed out any suspicious or incorrectly marked activities. When the competition closes we will review ALL activities for the various category winners. If you spot anything out of the ordinary please mail us at lovethebike@thehubsa.co.za Thanks, Matt
  15. Though a little before my mountain biking time, Onza (or OnZa) was one of the big brands in mountain bike tyres and other components in the late nineties. While the brand faded away in the early 2000’s more recently a swiss-based company relaunched the Onza brand and range of tyres. Click here to view the article

  18. Hey guys, We've been informally testing this recently. Having been doing more product reviews ourselves recently the idea has always been to move towards a more comprehensive review section with trusted reviews from a diverse team of experienced staff and user reviewers. We've had a few users like Iwan Kemp, Hairy, Martin Hattingh, Batmanza and Capricorn comprehensively reviewing their own or loaned gear which we've featured. In the forums we get dribs and drabs of product feedback in the various discussions, but it can be difficult and tedious to wade through the chatter to find specific products. And at the moment even our "featured" reviews are very hidden away (this will change very soon). The plan is to create a dedicated reviews section with a combination of "expert" (I use the term lightly) and user reviews. The "experts" being any one of the test crew members we'd like to build up. This will be similar to VitalMTB's reviews section, but with a focus on locally available product. I'd be keen to hear thoughts and see how we could formalise an Official Hubber Test Crew? Matt
  19. We've assisted the sponsors in setting this up and acknowledge there is some room for dishonesty, but having an understanding of these we've closed many of the loopholes already. In terms of verification we won't scrutinize all entrants activities, but will run through the category leaders' data with a fine-toothed comb to weed out any dishonesty. Good luck!
  20. If you haven't yet cast your vote you have just 15 minutes! Votes close at 12h00 today.
  21. Hi Hubbers, Just a reminder bump to cast your vote if you haven't already. Good luck to the finalists! Voting closes tomorrow @ 12h00.
  22. Another month down and time again to vote for the winner in our GoPro Photo of the Day competition. We've changed things up after the fake vote issues experienced in May. The intention was always for the competition to be community driven and in this spirit the final selection should rest with the community. However, instead of voting from the full month's images, an initial voting panel has narrowed it down to 5 finalists. And to simplify things you now choose just 1 image - your favorite - instead of the top 3 as before. Voting We've kept things simple. Just vote for your favourite of the finalists in the poll above. The photo with the most votes by midday next Friday wins. Note: If you choose to view the results of the poll before casting a vote you lose your vote. The winner will be based on the image with the most votes and will take home the GoPro Hero 3+ Silver Edition. In the event of a tie, a tie-breaker vote will be setup. Voting will close at 12h00 on Friday, 8 August 2014. The finalists: 01 July 2014: Nothing is stronger than the friendship between two ridersBy PeterThompson 07 July 2014: Kristian's In The House - 2014 Mzansi Tour - Prologue TTTBy Andrew Steer 09 July 2014: The Flying AlbatrossBy Detour Trails 11 July 2014: Jens Voigt Digging DeepBy Capcha 15 July 2014: Let me take a selfieBy Atomic View all the entries here: http://www.thehubsa....oto-of-the-day/
  23. What happens when you combine a bike builder and a top-level design firm? Well, some pretty cool stuff! The Oregon Manifest Bike Design Project pits five design/builder teams from five US cities against each other to build the ultimate urban utility bike. Click here to view the article
