  1. A final update on the badge counts ahead of the weekend.... Sign ups: 411 Badges: 3135 Here's a breakdown of the top spots: 14 badges - 57 participants13 badges - 29 participants12 badges - 33 participants11 badges - 24 participants10 badges - 18 participantsAn impressive number of people have earned all 14 badges so far. If you're not yet there I hope you've got some riding planned this weekend. Good luck!
  2. If it says you have all 14 badges on the website then you don't need to worry, you'll be included in the draw. If you are concerned send me your email address via PM and I'll confirm all is in order.
  3. The competition closes at midnight on Sunday, 17 May 2015. The Draw will then take place next week and winners announced by Friday, 22 May 2015 at the latest. Great work to all those who've already completed the challenge! Here are the latest stats.... 45 in contention so far. Here are the latest stats: Sign ups: 401Badges earned: 2944Here's a breakdown of the top spots: 14 badges - 45 participants13 badges - 26 participants12 badges - 31 participants11 badges - 22 participants10 badges - 20 participantsWhich badges do all those on 13, 12, 11 & 10 have left?
  4. Likely a bit of bad luck, although I have heard from others using the 120tpi that with the thinner sidewalls they're susceptible to cuts. The thicker 60tpi I reviewed here only came off the bike in Feb this year. They held up impressively well in some seriously rocky terrain in Lesotho Sky 2014 and a bucket load of Epic training thereafter. I'd recommend opting for 60tpi if you'll be riding rockier trails.
  5. Well done to all those who've already earned all the badges. To those still missing a few - good luck this week!! Stats so far: Participants: 380 Badges earned thus far: 2742 (51.5%) Here's a breakdown of the top spots - so far 33 in contention for 1 of 4 Isuzu Trucks PE Plett entries. 14 badges - 33 participants13 badges - 21 participants12 badges - 31 participants11 badges - 22 participants10 badges - 25 participants

  7. Yes, you can sign up at any point. All rides on Strava from 20 April - 17 May (and not private or on an indoor trainer) will count.
  8. Here is the stats update (figures as at 13h30 4 May 2015): Participants: 304 Badges earned thus far: 1942 (45.6%) Here's a breakdown of the top spots: 14 badges - 8 participants 13 badges - 5 participants 12 badges - 19 participants 11 badges - 26 participants 10 badges - 21 participants How many do you have left to complete?
  9. If it wasn't for the timing of events like Joberg2c and Trans Karoo, it would have taken a bit longer I'd think (at least another week). The idea is that it should be challenging, but still possible to do with training alone. I'll post some stats updates shortly.
  10. There are 289 sign ups so far, climbing each day. In total 1303 badges have been awarded (out of a possible 4046 - 32%), some even have all 14 badges already (all Joberg2c riders). Here's a breakdown of the top spots: 14 badges - 4 participants 13 badges - 1 participant 12 badges - 2 participants 11 badges - 9 participants 10 badges - 9 participants
  11. I've added an image showing the folding in action.
  12. Yes, any of the badges which are based on a single ride can be completed at any time during the competition.
  13. It's the 7 days from Monday - Sunday in any of the 4 competition weeks: Week 1: 20 - 26 April Week 2: 27 April - 3 May Week 3: 4 - 10 May Week 4: 11 - 17 May
  14. The little yellow lever let's you adjust the size to suit standard (26") or 29". When you pull back the lever you can tilt the top part of the wheel mount forwards making it smaller.
  15. Thanks! I'll include that now. From BicyclePower trading: http://www.bicyclepower.co.za/Products/SarisCycleRacks.aspx
  16. Whether just a short drive to your local trail or a weekend road trip, a bike rack is a likely essential in your cycling travels. The Saris Thelma-3 is a tow ball mounted bike carrier which, as the name suggests, holds up to three bikes. Click here to view the article
  17. Bar tape on a road bike is something most riders don’t pay all that much attention to, yet as a key contact point the choice can make a considerable difference to your ride. Lizard Skins DSP 3.2mm Bar Tape offers a wider, super comfortable feel with better shock absorption. Click here to view the article
  18. Hi guys, The "Hi Matt" was an embarrassing error on my part. We're administering the competition on behalf of the sponsors and an error on the email templates meant all went out addressed to me. My apologies! It has been corrected for future emails. The email received reflects your badges as at 2pm yesterday afternoon. Any rides uploaded subsequently would not have reflected so it is likely you have earned additional badges since the email. You can view what activities have been imported from Strava via this link: http://isuzutruckschallenge.co.za/activity If any are missing please let me know and we'll look into it. Regards, Matt
  19. I'll chat to them and see what we can do on the site. For the moment I'll post stats updates here.
  20. Have your earned your "First Ride" Badge yet? So far 44% of entrants have ridden 25km or more and earned their first real badge after sign up. In Week 2 the the ante is upped considerably with 3000m climbing and 200km to do between Monday and Sunday.... it's a good thing there are so many public holidays!
  21. Are you up for a challenge? Isuzu Trucks are giving away four team entries for the Isuzu Trucks PE Plett MTB Race, taking place 3 – 6 September 2015. The Isuzu Trucks Endurance Challenge kicked off today (20 April 2015) and over the next four weeks you'll be faced with a series of Strava-based challenges. If you complete them all you'll go into the draw to win one of the four team entries plus R 5000 towards your travel. Click here to view the article
  22. From Pat's talk on Thursday and subsequent chat about this, the focus was firmly on the chain line (specifically in the context of 11 speed gearing) and this is what spurred the change. This wasn't a reason used to address another issue (wheel strength), it was the issue. Added wheel strength, though, is certainly a welcome positive benefit. Pat intimated on Thursday that the plus five concept will be seen in more Pyga's - "the Stage is just the start" were his words. I'd hazard a guess that we will see plus five trickle through the PYGA lineup and across all wheel sizes.
  23. I spoke to Pat about this to get some clarity. Yes, Cannondale have played with offsets as have other manufacturers. Cannondale offset the rear end by 6mm for two reasons: 1) Stiffer & stronger rear wheel 2) Better tire clearance and clearance for 1x and 2x upfront with shorter seat stays The front and rear were both offset to the right resulting in little to no change in the chain line - this was not their intention. For Pyga the primary focus was correcting the issues caused by the chainline to improve shifting and reduce component wear. A secondary benefit resulted in the stronger rear wheel due to equal spoke lengths. So while the idea of adjusting the offset on the rear end is by no means new, doing so with the intent of addressing chain line issues is.
  24. The Stage MX is just the evolution of that prototype, but in principle it's the same bike with some subtle, but key refinements. We've got a closer look at it coming out in an article this morning.
  25. We were pretty excited to receive the Lauf so this is a preview (a teaser if you like) to the full review. Any content with the "ON TEST" prefix will be a preview of what's to come and importantly it offers a space to get feedback from the community on what they'd like to know about the product while we're testing. In the full review we'll feature a commentary on the ride in different conditions and from different rider perspectives.
