  1. Private land & private trails. It's their prerogative to charge whatever they want for access if people are willing to pay for it. As with most things, value is relative. At R250 you should be getting access to exceptional trails, facilities and service, relative to the avg day pass on most other trails which range between R50 - R100 without any curfews. Riders who pay Lourensford's asking price and feel they're getting the commensurate value for money are entitled to be happy. Riders who give it a try but then feel that Lourensford is charging exorbitant riding fees for disproportionate value are equally entitled for feel aggrieved, especially when receiving stroppy attitude from the staff. Sometimes people want to splash out and drop some cash on trying something premium. You only really find out afterwards whether you received value for money. Personally I'd expect a "mind blown, best trails in the country, which I could ride all day long" kind of experience if I just spent R250 on a day permit. By all indications, Lourensford doesn't offer anything mind blowing, so my cash will gladly rather be spent on places like Jonkers, Banhoek, Welvanpas, Oak Valley etc which are all exceptionally well sign-posted and won't reprimand you for missing a curfew.
  2. @Shaheedalex You have the right to feel aggrieved and voice your side of a story, and a public forum audience has the right to comment in whichever they want to (as long as laws aren't broken). There's no winner or loser here. So what's the goal? We assume you feel ignored, want to get the Janus' attention, and ultimately want your R150 refunded. There are many ways to get what you want, but how you do it, and how you treat people is a measure of the calibre of person you are. Try being kind first. The tone of your subsequent replies in the thread to other Hubbers is also abrasive. Maybe it was unintended and you didn't mean to come across this way, but that's how it was received. Instead of loaded accusations in a thread title like "thief", consider something like "Attention Evobikes & Janus". Instead of a personal attack in the first thread message, consider calmly stating your facts and saying what you want. Start by mention tagging @Evobikes and/or @EVOBIKES ONLINE STORE and say you're posting on Bikehub because your emails and phone calls have gone unanswered. Ask them to find your emails and reply to you so that the refund can be finalised. If however your intention for this thread is less about the R150 refund and more about publicly airing your opinion of Janus as a business owner, then say that and don't muddy it into a refund battle. Not excusing their lack of response to your emails in any way, but we doubt Evobikes is out to target you, so unless you've omitted some important context, it's very likely they'll sort you out.
  3. Is "theft from inside a car" an exclusion you opted for to reduce premiums, or is it a standard clause in the underwriting? Which insurance company do you use?
  4. Yeah I guess it was a convenient spot if you live nearby. Feel the pain too about it becoming less safe to bike commute to and from a nice riding area. Moved from S/West Stellenbosch area to Cape Town central and never fully accepted not being able to stay out on TM or Lions Head alone on the bike after dark, or safely ride back home into the city alone. New norms, adapt or die (or adapt and die if you ride the risky spots).
  5. Less to do with maintenance and more to do with Eskom locking down power generating keypoints due to increased alert status about sabotage threats. Accommodating recreational activities is the least of Eskom's problems and rightfully the least of their priorities. We live in the Western Cape (well one assumes nobody from JHB is quibbling about Koeberg access) so go and enjoy any one the buffet of cycling options available to us.
  6. Which rim did you smoosh? Was it the Lyne Amp Carbon wheelset you bough recently?
  7. Interesting that you noticed this. Is it a reality that carbon is more likely to pick up superficial damange vs alu, or do you think the surface coating is inferior on certain carbon rims? All rims pick up a few knocks and chips from rocks over time - especially the back wheel.
  8. It's been almost a year since Lyne released their AMP Carbon wheels. If you bought these and put them through their paces, please share some feedback about: how the rims have stood up to impacts? reliability of the Lyne JB02HE hubs? Seems to be mixed feedback about Lyne's hubs depending who you ask. Some claim the hubs hold their own against the pricer Hope/DT options, and others say Lyne's hubs aren't great for materials strength, internal tolerances, axle fails etc.
  9. Is that Lyne's AMP Carbon wheelset? Are you running their high engagement hub option? Keen to hear your thoughts/opinion about these wheels, and specifically the hubs?
  10. Take a look at the Specialized bibs & baggies to see how they do it. Small fabric loops on both which you can link up to keep the baggies "attached" so that they don't migrate around while riding.
  11. Taking a chance - do you have any stock of these which just aren't listed on your site: https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/component/deore-xt-m8100/PD-M8120.html If yes a great price on them would be amazing please?!
  12. Mopkop - which model LightBicycle rims are those?
  13. That looks like Eden trails...the just before you get to the raised bit and pop out at the house? If the same place, my biggest fear is what happened to you there - except with me ploughing straight into a pine tree. Some nasty loose stuff there and I always carry too much speed into that section with the bike very twitchy into the next corner. Fun times though - some great riding around there!
  14. @Versus Socks: This thread reminded me I need to replace my socks, but none of the Banana-flavoured ones to be found on your website. Please don't say they're discontinued? As much as I dislike Bananas, those Banana-flavoured socks are stuff of legend!
  15. Overall not a bad event. Good admin & organising - everything ran smoothly. Route generally enjoyable except for the sandy bits, bottlenecks on singletracks and some of those farm road sections which felt like they'd been included to add distance. Waterpoints well located and stocked with all the right stuff...especially the one with fresh slap chips - legendary addition that was!
