  1. Stuff the Mavic SLR's. The freehub body at the back seems to be an ongoing problem and they are expensive to maintain. Option1 Stans rims / Sun Ringle Rims with Hope2 hubs and Dt revolution spokes (both) or competition spokes at the back if you are 85kg plus. Should be around R4000 from Chainreaction. Option 2 American Classics 26. Option 3 Mavic 819 UST with Hope 2 hubs and Dt Swiss spokes (Revolution or Competition depending on weight.
  2. Think the 2008 WTB wheels without tyres and skewers are about 1.75kg Would be semi lightweight IMO. Lightweight I reckon is around 1.5kg Medium weight Wheels (for XC) over 2kg.knersis2009-06-05 03:55:52

  13. Are we starting at the spar? or at the bottom of Magic?
  14. Looks great, I have a Detroit Ltd, great bang for the buck. Think I paid R22000 2 years ago, with Full Dura Ace, Fulcrum 1 Wheels, Fsa stem + bars. Just changed the tyres and skewer, bike weighs 7.7kg for a 58cm. I like the raw carbon with the print over it.
  15. Looks like a bigger version of the Raleigh Kid bikes. Just add the basket in front and the "lientjies and pinkies" for the handlebars. knersis2009-05-25 02:05:57

    Shock oil

Bel Ray makes 7W and 7.5W fork oil for motorbike shocks, Craigs in Parow (Cape Town) sells it. No mixing required.knersis2009-05-22 06:40:42
  19. Count me in.
  20. Tora is an OK, entry level Airshock. Normal Maintenance. Probably best to drain the oil once a year, depends on riding style. Not the lightest of shocks, think it is around 2.3kg. was replaced with the Recon which is way lighter, 1.8 odd. Would try to get one for under R1 500 depending on condition and age. If you can afford more +- R2500 - 3000, rather get a Recon / Reba or Fox 2nd hand.knersis2009-05-22 05:08:39
  21. Take the shock to your LBS, to forward it to Cape Cycle Systems, they might give you a good price on a upgrade shock.
  22. 3L Blowfish also expands, works great, can fit loads of stuff in the back, if you don't need the space just zip up the big compartment.

  25. LX and XT is the same chain, XT got a extra coating, not as prone to rust. If you buy them from CWC they are good value for money.
