  1. My Ridley Noah Pro has suffered accident damage. *cries* Unfortunately the Noah Pro frame is no longer available, I don't want the Noah RS (the model below the Pro at the time of my purchase), and the Noah Fast (the nearest to the Pro, has a sticker price of R50k - frame and brake system only) So, on a R30k budget, which frame would you buy and why? Bearing in mind, I like something aggressive (able to race) yet comfortable (good for the 200km + rides). where possible, drop in a photo with your recommendation. thanks for the shopping cart.
  2. .... to the taxi driver that slowed down traffic at Misty Hills this morning .... and then STILL gave me 1.5m setting an example for the cars and trucks behind him.
  3. That's an easy enough approach for myself, However - I have about 20 people asking me the same question - so try to be a little more helpful. Anybody else?
  4. Thanks, But Still doesn't answer the questions ....
  5. ?? I know this starts in Linden @ 17h30, but I have not been able to find out anything else - distance - route - anticipated end time ??? (IMHO : Not sure a 17h30 start time is the most appropriate for safety awareness, will everyone bring lights etc ??)
  6. Unless I missed it, I did not read anything about the driver ??
  7. Can anyone provide some links / route maps for designated trails in this area. Can you ride in the Reserve?
  8. Michelle - always add salt - you know that.

also saw a white cab providing VB riders with a slip on the M1. If you get dropped early suck it up
  10. Is this some sort of new "critical mass" trend?
  11. Can somebody please help me understand the exact purpose of Critical Mass. Without doing any research I attended for the first time last week. A great vibe, but . . . . Were we there to: a) create awarenes of cyclists and show that even if we ride in great numbers we can pbey the rules of the road and be courteous to other road users B) create awareness of cyclists and that if we don't get treated fairly we will break all the rules, skip red lights (where Marshalls have failed to secure safe passage) and generally be disruptive and ill-disciplined. I know which camp I fall into. It was apparent on the evening that was attendance from both camps (and possibly others), either way - not having everyone on the same page at these events is non-sensical. If the purpose is to skip red lights, and one person decides to stop - he (or she) essentially becomes the problem (and a possible danger to the other cyclists) If the purpose is to be sensible and well behaved, then skipping a red light just encourages others to follow - and you're the one who closely follows blindly across an intersection then it could just hurt a little. Discuss!
  12. The adaptor plugs are for changing the "size" of the socket. You will possibly still need to re-wire. Have you hooked your car up to a local to a trailer to make sure that LH and RH indicators are actually aligned. If not - re-wire the car. I've just gone thru this process myself
  13. Just checked the DSTV schedule and . . .nothing, nada . . until 21h00 http://www.dstv.com/guide/ Anybody know of anything different?
  14. We only go for the pre-ride hydration ritual.
  15. Dear Affiliates, Please see communication received from Vice President, William Newman, this morning regarding Tour of SA. Kind regards From: William Newman Sent: 07 November 2011 10:10 AM To: Cc: Subject: FW: Tour of SA cancellation Importance: High Dear Colleagues It is with grave disappointment that we have just this hour been informed that due to insufficient funding being procured, the 2012 Tour of South Africa has been cancelled. This is a very disappointing news, but a reality of our current economic situation. We will have to reconsider how best we try and make a National Tour a reality in the near future. Please refer any queries to the President or myself. 16. I just got back. Evans Cycles (.co.uk) will give you an idea of pricing. Bikes are no cheaper. Where you will do well is on winter accessories: 1. wet and wind proof booties (£25) 2. Gloves - as above 3. Lights (£30) Dont write off stopping at the LBS in the odd towns. Often better for the above than the retail chain stores.
  17. Train 7 days a week
  18. Heard it too. happened while riding. CSA are looking to confirm
  19. I have tried many places in the area looking for someone that does a good job. Joshua is by the far the best balance of budget/service. I've taken approx. 6 bikes there in the last few months and had zero issues
  20. So no-one has mentioned how much it costs to title-sponsor this event ...
  21. Take a photo of him standing proudly with his bike Offer him R 1,000 Load the bike in your car Register the incident at the cop shop Post the pic on The Hub Collect R 1,000 from the original owner for the safe storage of bike

  23. Two of my colleagues took tumbles this weekend and landed up in hospital. The first one was at "To Hell and Back" - he's been medivac'd to Unitas in PTA where he has a few broken bones. The second is a Club100 rider and is currently in Sunninghill Hospital waiting for facial reconstruction .. I'm trying to learn more about the incident. His name is Steve Hampton and he's one of the raceing VETS (50+) - anyone with any news??
  24. A lot of us know who the culprit "might" be, but may I caution everyone against making slanderous comments without proof. There is no need for us to stoop to his level by taking matters into our own hands just provoking a bad situation into something out of control.
  25. R2R went around the Cradle in the Opposite Direction.
