  1. and some kids have some serious high end bikes
  2. First one for my daughter (8) as well, and she doesn't get to ride that often. Great event, but she was quite overwhelmed. She did fall at some point and was helped up by some other parent and carried on to finish.
  3. Bottom line this is a sporting event with some rules. Even with golf if you're too slow the marshals move you along. As much as I sympathise for people that are sick, the CTCT is also using normal roads, so anyone can ride it any day using whatever mode of transportation in whatever time...
  4. Thanks. Regarding the ebikes, I just finished my first one on my own steam in 5:31 on my dual sus MTB (slicks though). I only started cycling a year ago when time allows (i.e. not that much) on trails. I put in a bit more effort with spin class and 1 longer ride every week since Jan. All this for my own personal achievement. Now I do not mind seeing ebikes on the trails, as long as the riders don't act like idiots (like the one that cut me on the inside on a single track climb and basically pushed me off the trail). When it comes to a race or any timed event don't think they should be there. Like everything in sport it is about fairness. Now someone on a ebike has a CTCT medal, when the guy and his son get a DNF... It seems that discussion comes after every event. Organisers need to be more strict. If this is now the norm and allowed, I might go do the gun run or 2 oceans on roller blades or better with an hoverboard...
  5. What finishing certificate? It was my first one. Very happy with the medal but would be cool to have that as a memento as well...
  6. Hi actually also found a archive section on windguru. Seems to indicate about 50km/h with gust up to 70 by Cape Point
  7. Does anyone have actual figures regarding the wind speed on Sunday?
  8. thanks for the timing chip comments. I won't take a chance on the alu fork but the shoe seems like a good idea. It get closer to the ground too so the signal should be plenty strong
  9. Quick question as it is my first and my first with the chip. I have an alu mtb. They say not to put the chip on the fork. Is it ok to put it on the velcro of my shoe though? That ankle strap seems like it will irritate me

  21. is that spez tube enough for a 2.4 tire?
  22. Hi, That actually raised a question I never had for my Fuel EX8... (thanks) I found the part https://www.bike24.com/p2182233.html It is quite cheap but the shipping and VAT will need to be added, making it an expensive piece for SA...
  23. check the scicon range. that's what i had. it uses a nice clip system under the saddle so it works with dropper as well. many sizes available
  24. It was my first time up in my 2nd lap... I definitely didn't have the will to go back up...
