Phoned Solomons Woodmead on Thursday looking for some spares for the MTB. They gave me great prices, almost half of the price of my LBS. They then told me that they did not have stock but would get it for me from PTA by Friday afternoon. By 11h00 on Friday they phoned me to tell me the goods were ready for collection. Went there in the afternoon and no problem all products as disscussed over the phone at GREAT prices. They then threw in a small little extra no charge, what my have been small to them was a great deal to me. Had a look around the shop, there are some great prices. Will definatly be back. If you know what you want and looking for the best price give them a call. I think the chaps name was Anthony (could be way off).

I have not done The Epic, but one thing I can tell you, from people we went with who have done both is the The Epic is faaarr better organised. You will climb trust me. They also said that the overall fitness/standard of riders at TA was way better than The Epic. If you are mid pack Epic rider, you a back pack TA rider.

I went this year, don't ask how it went, all I can say is the campervan is NOT the best option. Please PM if you would like some advice. Not every town in Europe has a camp site. Rather hire a smaller car say like a "combie" and stay in B&B's, but book now. Washing and every thing can be done over night and your back up can sort it out. It also should work out cheaper. One little scratch on the RV costs 5000 - 6000 euros. If you do take the RV, use your SA insurance company NOT theirs. I will be back some year to finish it, don't pull out what ever you do. I still have a tear in my eye thinking about it. Day 5, we were 1hr 30min into a 124km stage and we had only done 7km!!!!! Good luck it is well worth it. I got the shirt to prove it, just not the finishers!!!!!!

Is there a difference spec wise between the 2007 XTR and 2008 XTR? I know one has a 7 at the end and the other has a 8 at the end. (for the smart asses) . Thanks.

Where did you get that saddle?

Was it by Kya Sands or by Chartwell? Chartwell is near Dainfern not Kya Sands. We were out there this morning and saw/heard nothing. Please can you update us with info from your Father in Law as we ride Chartwell often. Hope the rider heals soon. Gnarly2008-11-02 03:56:33
