  1. First and foremost, what kind gravel riding are you leaning toward?
  2. This is the scene in one hot minute....
  3. Basically exactly as per the CCM article over a day ago.
  4. By that token then so would Schurter’s riding, considering the number of near misses between both of them in the last moments. Ultimately I don’t see Schurter, not his team management even considering going that route. Not in the spirit of competition and not a consolation. In fact it could backfire. They’re evolved enough to let the racing sort it out come next round.
  5. He fully makes a point though. And how many events charge 1300 per day? A fraction of the total calendar. There are over a 1000 events to choose from. Then there’s there exceptional entitlement some people display at events.

  7. Much of a muchness, so if it's that much cheaper and you prefer the range/ratio. Go for it. Currently have one on my bike with XT shifting, no complaints.
  8. All those years of pent up neutrality. The Swiss are so quaintly cute when they’re angry. 🇨🇭 😘
  9. Canadian Cyclist Mag providing the most objective oped; https://cyclingmagazine.ca/mtb/what-happened-between-schurter-and-flueckiger-in-lenzerheide/
  10. Cytec are the importers and distributors of Merida for South Africa, with warehouses in Western Cape and Gauteng. The partners in the company own Titan as a separate brand and business altogether. Thats where the tie in starts and ends. Titan started out as a value product and sort of a Massmart/Makro type of market in the mid 2000s. They even had some sweetly priced carbon frames, that almost certainly came from the same mould as BH. 2018/2018 into 2020 the brand stepped it’s product range, focus and design across the board and a slight rebrand as Titan Racing. Titan Racing uses a different manufacturing environment, it’s design centre (Forge) is in Belville. They own their molds/jigs on frames. Their product/accessories range across the board with a mix of in-house and white label product. The XC/road helmets for example, basically a version of the previous gen Lazers.
  11. Love their hardtails, some of the most pleasing aesthetics around. The new 99 models are beaut as well. If I were to ever own a road bike *cough ... A Scultura would certainly make the list. Ah the big S. For sure, and for understandable reason. S stuff just works and they do accessories/gear well. Some of my hardest riding kilos have been with their kit. Saffas are pretty much spoilt for choice though. Personally I'm currently keeping my budget tighter than a budgies nought.
  12. Looking forward to seeing them all getting more international racing done! Best for everyone.
  13. Show of character from Hatherly saying how he'd rather have gone toe to toe four up, even though it's all part and parcel of racing. Sincere and stoic, good man. Completely speculative, but given the most recent interviews on the crash, it wouldn't be surprising if there were some strong words in the forest after the crash. Which is probably also why all the riders ducked the question. Fair enough I suppose, but under Eurosport/GCN the question would be a bit more hardballed. Swiss TV provided the visuals. It was probably a logistics/capacity call camera placement in that section of forest. With the amount of phone cameras though, I wouldn't be surprised if some spectator footage showed up online, probably from some random like a Felix Munchaussen or something. Whose 20 strong Instagram account will blow up into 200k overnight as people view his amateur clip amongst his homemade strudel and mountain top pet selfies. Ps ... The Fluck is ginger AF with that beard. Who knew.
  14. Luke Moir as well apparently, raced on a Trek Supercal from Trek/Vaude. Pretty bold colourways.
  15. And ironically, a bloody good bike that is really underrated, especially here in SA. I demo'd the 6000 model for a while, one of the most balanced bikes over jumps that I've experienced. Loved hitting jumps on it and doing all day rides, absolute fun machine. Business partner at the time got the top model (9000 or something) and did his first Munga on it, zero problems.
  16. None, the so called compromise is really not a thing as mostly used for stiffness. Unless you're an elite level athlete and/or like bling. In fact arguably the converse could be argued for most amateur riders as too stiff a sole can cause issues on a ride. Typically gravel type shoes are a combination of a road biased sole that's not as thick with a less aggressive tread/lugs and a slightly pared down upper, ie thinner materials. Closer to a race MTB shoe like Shimano XC9 or SWorks. Most wouldn't know the difference in function and quite happily use their MTB shoes for both. The shoes you've posted look like a scaled down MTB touring shoe and the gravel indication would be the low profile sole. Would say that they're perfectly fine for MTB XC use.
  17. Just you. And really just coming over as sour. Just suck it up and congratulate the guy. Ffs.
  18. Congrats Darryl, enjoy every moment! Love the colourway and graphics. Heres to the first dirt initiation 🍻
  19. Were they demanding or just put a proposal together, which was found to be too much? Originally it was apparently because they refused to offer the VIP bubble like as other events. In reality without an anchor sponsor the last J2C prior to lockdown showed a success, and if it weren’t for the following two years it’s likely they would have been able to continue. The events industry took a huge knock, and while the future looks brighter compared to other industries. They also have a huge recovery curve ahead. Unfortunately organisation costs have also soared through the roof, as everything has. So it’s likely entries are also going to become more prohibitive. Despite any form of anchor sponsorships.
  20. This must be one of the most woke comments yet 😂
  21. Relatively out there, will be interesting to see how or if the average rider will Be able to translate any advantages. Definitely an eye turner though, wonder how bike fit folk will work around the seatpost.
  22. Good on them, no small feat to sign a title deal like and partner with other events as part of an integrated strategy. Specially when taking into account that Advendurance/Faces took ownership of the event right in the middle of a pandemic and restrictions that screwed the events industry into a hole. Obviously not beyond reproach and no doubt there will be valid critique as well as reactive whining. But on the whole, a positive step forward that should hopefully see a trickle down effect for others.
  23. Indeed, by both persons.
  24. How many? One a day, a week, a month? Hairy makes some really good points and imho I don't agree with a fair bit of how/why some threads are binned, as opposed to locking them rather. At the same time it is a quick solution to what can rapidly get out of hand. This kind melodramatic statement is a case in point, it actually strengthens Matt's argument more than anything. And on this thread he has gone at lengths to provide feedback. Given the history of classifieds comments it is understandable, some here will remember a certain Francois who got banned after tracking down a lady, threatening and sharing her personal details. At the end of the day it is Admin's prerogative as they are legally liable and given the history, likely the lesser evil.
