  1. Twitter has done that plenty already.
  2. The (edit) summary report from USADA, a comprehensive one at that. 202 pages total. https://docs.google....?pli=1&sle=true
  3. A short rundown with a link to a comprehensive picture gallery... http://www.treadmag.co.za/News/DisplayNewsItem.aspx?niid=15230
  4. You don't mention the tyre sizing and rim width? Theres a misconception that this is some new wheel size when in fact 29r equals 700c. So you should be able to fit most road or hybrid tyres, look for a good tyre width depending on your rim's width. Conti, Schwalbe, Bontager, and Michelin etc all make commuter/hybrid tyres that will fit.
  5. RIP ... what a desperately sad and tragic waste, all for some **** being tanked at 8am!!! I hope they throw the book at him! Much strength to the family!
  6. Generally, cleats. Not just for endurance rides, they offer control and efficient pedaling. Uness you're riding dirt jumps and serious free ride stuff, and even then there guys using cleats. Patches showed one of the better 'tekkie' options, if you're ridding with gym/running skoens, you're just doing yourself a torture.
  7. There's a prevalent attitude of 'might is is right' on our roads, that goes hand in hand with a general stuff you attitude of contempt for fellow road users. All kinds of drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists etc do this, daily. On my bike I've had taxis give me the most consideration, that stereotype we all love to hate. Daily I see pedestrians jaywalk, equally and maybe even more so though I'll see drivers not even slow down for a crossing. Sit outside Vega and you'll see. So maybe, we should all stop being so quick to throw stones at glass houses and look at our own behavior on the road. A **** is a ****, on two wheels, two feet or four wheels.
  8. Ya, not entirely impressed with them over it, stayed up and loaded 30 odd shots on Sunday eve. Some desks are more proactive than others though. Anyhow, working on a gallery myself to go up on FB and folk are free to pull off there.
  9. A tight edit of @SSWC_2012 images http://tinyurl.com/9r7a6nj Shall do a more detailed gallery in the week.
  10. I'm almost sure there are chalk outlines on that field! I'm dubbing this the 'Daisy' de Melker weekend, the WIN in Winterton 'SSWC2012'
  11. was all good ... just much slowness
  12. Might have had something to do with the scissor kick to the head on the dance floor and mysterious aches and pains ..... What a weekend, a 'daisy' de Melker weekend!
  13. Damn, that really happened? I thought it was just a hallucination! Felt like Bruce Fordyce's socks in my mouth this morning!
  14. IMO. Some of those statements and this law suit are revealing the ugliest if human traits, bullying. Found this a good read, and pretty much puts the matter into context. In plain terms that everyone can understand. http://pvcycling.wordpress.com/2012/09/25/rough-read/
  15. Two punctures, lost a bolt on the rear brake caliper and a silly fall that hurt my shoulder. What a jol though, was a thoroughly enjoyable day out.
  16. Worst advice ever, that's the kind of thing that puts our premiums up. If it's a certified mechanic there should be no problem. Besides, most bike shop's mechies are shop trained and without any formal certification either. The best people to pose the question to, is your insurance co or broker, and get it in writing.
  17. Still have my old 'SAMBA' licence lying around somewhere. As well as loads of old photos of the guys, including Greg Millar.
  18. Like that Momentum/iFlex Duathlon at Waterfall. Great fun that was !
  19. I think for many is that CM encourages and encompasses the culture of the bicycle as a total, as well as the awareness/protest aspect. Of course this point is very often misunderstood or not even understood at all, consequently some will feed the need to somehow pigeon hole it into something dangerous that must be stopped or into some or other negative vein. Numerous times the Wiki link has been posted, providing insight to the concept of CM rides. As a culture the bicycle and cycling has a broader effect than just recreation/sport. It was incredible to see two certain pro roadies realising this by pitching on the Qhubeka dikwiels.
  20. If those names mentioned in Squier's post are correct. I would love to see how that plays into Ligget's statements of the witnesses being paid and/or offered deals.
  21. So then it's fair comment to say then that more than the R40 worth is to be found in the riding at vG. Even Karlkloof etc have some issues now and then, yet everything considered, relatively minor. If the water bridge is a serious issue, just bring it up politely with the good folk at vG. When the bridge has been really bad that section is closed off. Really, we pay a nominal fee for the privilege to ride out there. Just like other trails in farming areas (such as Holla). In fact to a large extent, the trails are subsidised to an extent by the agricultural and peripheral businesses, not the other way round.
  22. Awesome eve out, largest crowd I've seen yet and pretty diverse! Huge props to Arran Brown and Jay Thompson (I think) for riding the Qhubeka dikwiels ....
  23. Seems a few nerves have been touched .... Bees in my bonnet http://www.sport24.co.za/Columnists/GraemeJoffe/Bees-in-my-bonnet-20120824 SASCOC CEO’s 'ghost' column http://www.sport24.co.za/Columnists/GraemeJoffe/SASCOC-CEOs-ghost-column-20120830
  24. Although oddly the conclusion drawn was essentially very much along what you just stated, in previous issues as well. There's more choice which is never a bad thing, even though for the first time buyer it can be a bit overwhelming. This is where the LBS should be stepping up to the plate to help the customer. For experienced riders there is now the choice to choose something they feel works best for them.
