  1. What the Luke said.
  2. What, no pomp? ...
  3. For sure, I agree. Like you say, you don't often see riders (or much else ) which what I mentioned in my post. Just saying I reckon folk put too much energy into being aggro about not being greeted back or whatever. It's just as bad imho. Mate of mine is one of those, does his nut when not greeted back, I asked him "But who then actually has the problem?" Bigger issue for me, is people riding trails through land that they know full well is private and don't pay the fee and sign the indemnity. Yet still have the audacity to have an attitude about it when confronted. Had just that experience yesterday whilst out at van Gaalen. The two riders who greeted earlier and the one who didn't were no issue.
  4. Any adult, be it a coach, parent or whoever, if found to be a party in aiding minors to dope. Mandatory jail sentence, for the minor 12 months community service. No arguments about pressures/performance bull***t.
  5. Not sure why people get their panties in knot about this greeting thing, sometimes, often actually people's response to not being greeted or given a return greeting is more telling and just as bad. If that affects your ride, then you're doing it wrong, get over it. Couldn't even venture a guess to the number of times I've not received a reply to greeting, or not greeted someone else. On a crowded trail like the Spruit it's more often than not just silly to be greeting every other person or expecting a greeting/acknowledgement. Riding somewhere more remote like vG, different scenario. At the end of the day, how does it REALLY affect your ride? First world problems, sigh.
  6. Exactly.
  7. 2.4 in Racing Ralph. Don't think they make them that big. Maybe the Hans Dampf, but even then. http://www.schwalbe.com/gbl/en/suche/produkte/ergebnis/index.php5?flash=1&produkt=Racing%20Ralph&etrtoFahrradRollstuhl=0&zoll=0&etrto=0&senden_x=34&senden_y=7&senden=1&hidden_einsatzbereich=&hidden_produkt=&hidden_etrto=&hidden_zoll=&hidden_mainPoint=&hidden_subPoint=&hidden_subSubPoint=&tn_mainPoint=&tn_subPoint=&ID_Produktgruppe=&ID_Land=38&ID_Sprache=2
  8. About as close as damit ... but, to find a 2.4 is limiting, plus the air volume changes. So handling and ride feel is still affected. Not in a bad or good way, depends what one wants out of their ride. Like those phat ass Black Sheep steeds at SSWC.
  9. By the bead?
  10. Obviously, it also makes him no less guilty. What many seem to be missing and failing to look past emotive arguments is not popping a few pills or simply doping up to get a meda. It was the fact that this was built on a bullying systematically corrupt machine, whereby if you spoke out, you thrown under the bus. ie - Filippo Simeoni speaking against Dr Ferrari for example, the court action against Kimmage. LA is guilty, but he isn't alone. Thats the issue, guilty as he is, others need to be brought to book, and it's those who are now attempting to throw LA under the same bus. http://nyvelocity.com/content/features/2012/michael-ashenden-armstrong-triangle
  11. There's a tribunal under way. So once that's concluded and depending on what may or may not come out, the UCI and CSA will provide a statement. Difficult to apply a timeline to that.
  12. True that, how many blood/biological passports are being used on athletes with the local pro scene. Not just cycling either.
  13. Had a look at the Bosch bike rack recently, also looks good! Sturdy construction and folds away neatly.
  14. Essentially the same brake. http://techdocs.shimano.com/techdocs/blevel.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302059413&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181679&bmUID=jh4Wrbr
  15. It's a nanny rule.
  16. Want an example on how to represent your sponsor, take a page from the example of Amy Beth McDougall. Sponsored by Ballistic Bike Trading with Bryton/Ghost Bikes. She really knows what it means to be proactive, plenty local and overseas 'pros' who could learn from her.
  17. Wether he knew or not. I often find that a completely spurious argument at best. How often have we heard of people even closer in business, who get turned over. Or worse, in marriages/intimate relationships. So how is it that two team mates should have any greater intuition. Given how much time they spent together, they still spent as much time apart in different cities with their respective families. ****, that dodgy Austrian held his daughter in a basement for how long. Not that I like their beer any less.
  18. Good idea, but not just for riders. Otherwise it's like treating the symptom not the cause.
  19. Not 'snakestays' then?
  20. Brandon Els ‏@TheOldCootBiker For anybody wondering @kevinevansracin cannot make any public statement until permitted by Nedbank.
  21. Define quite a few? Cross contamination in manufacturer is a danger any supplement brand has at the moment. Anyhow, I've yet to hear of any supplement brand, medicine or foodstuffs that could possibly be tainted by EPO.
  22. Actually both the sanctioning body and sponsor issued a release. http://www.treadmag.co.za/News/DisplayNewsItem.aspx?niid=15456
  23. The UK, US and Europe it has become very much a formalised trade with accredited courses. Unfortunately not everyone can afford to go stateside and do a Barnetts course or do a years worth of accredited training in the UK. Even more doubtful that they can recoup that investment by coming back here and plying their trade, more the exception than the rule. There are industry certified courses that retailers can put their staff through via the importers/brands. Yet the reality is that a career as a bike shop mechanic in SA, is still very much unrecognised and underpaid trade for most. Where the traditional 'appy' role doesn't really apply as it did with those of us that did apprenticeships in other industry. Some good questions have been put to JB about this offer, which rather being critical can be used constructively. Speaking for myself though. I can see in the bigger scheme of things this is a good opportunity not just for the applicants but the local industry to step up as well and provide a good formal base for some kind basic technical proficiency in the workshop at least.
  24. Ok now that's getting stupid! Said it before, will say it again. People getting far too caught up in the LA angle, driven by emotion. Luckily though the broader issue of anti doping in sport is being brought the fore now. Then stop opening the thread, it's not that hard. Better than trying force censorship on those who are discussing the topic.
  25. Are there not dedicated trail run/hiking sections on Tokai. Under the impression that theres a multitude of trail running areas in and around CT, or am I wrong on that one?
