  1. according to morning radio, milk is a problem due to bad sales forecasting. Don't think they've pulled PhysiCAL milk just yet, saw an ad in the last 3 days...
  2. where was I when these were being sold?!!
  3. They are so hooked, that we saw them leaving the Bunkhouse on their way home! Now they have their own tickets, awesome! I will pass all the thanks to B!
  4. Hey y'all. Wow, what a great day out on the bike. It is truly awesome to have a gathering of 22 MTBers of varying skill levels and to have such a great day out. The mission of the day was accomplished, everyone finished with a smile on their face!! There were a handful of embarassing falls, as Dirt Rider can attest, but mine was probably the most embarassing. We were travelling under the pinetrees on a flat dirt road. I was hopping pinecones in my quest to build my confidence when I totally st*ffed it up, and fell over. Having to admit that I fell whilst hopping a pinecone is embarassing enough, but the scratches on my butt and realising that I had landed on the offending pinecone... PRICELESS!!! Thanks to everyone for making it such a special memory (Ewep's singing will not be a memory that fades fast), and as always, thank you to my hubbie, without whom the public holiday rides would just be another average ride.

  16. So, for those of you who have gone on a Hutchinson breakfast ride, we're doing it again! For those who haven't, you don't know what you're missing! The plan: Ride MTB for 2 hours followed by a full cooked breakfast The venue: Northern Farm The time: 7:30 ride time The ride: fun ride for all skill levels The breakfast: everyone pays B about R30 to provide eggs, bacon, toast, fried tomatoes, mushrooms, tea, coffee, orange juice, etc. Let me know numbers so we can plan!
  17. I've heard enough about that race to be scared!! Anyway, we wanted to do a social ride, all in all, I had a great day out and didn't regret not being at the race at all, chuckle!
  18. So, there were 4 riders at the end of the day; ThePanda and I, my dad and Sgt Skills. we set off on a beautiful autumn morning, winding our way through the little known dirt trails of Pretoria East. Our route took us up the impossible hill, down a 2km singletrack enough to make anyone smile, across to Smuts House which we stopped to have a look around, and out to the cement factory on another perfect singeltrack. We headed home next to the railway line and arrived back at the Dros for much needed lime milkshakes. What better way to spend a Sunday morning!
  19. I rode hard last weekend both days, and on Monday night I had such bad back pain. The reason, tight hamstrings! So I can fully recommend stretching, making a big difference in my life.
  20. Cois, I never want to say ride instead of going to church, evening session might work?
  21. Nah, not that bad. We usually ride this trail at night! Anything you ride at night can't be that bad Come and join us. If you can do 45km, you'll be guaranteed to having fun
  22. OK OK, I know its a bit late. But if anyone wants to join us, ThePanda and I are doing a 45km on Pta urban singletrack on Sunday. Some fairly technical trails. Starting at 7:30 at Waterkloof Ridge Shopping centre. I'll post better directions if needed, but take freeway to Centurion, head on towards Menlyn, take R21 offramp left. First offramp turn right. At 1st robot (McD's on left) turn left. Circle left, shopping centre 500m further on right Reply to this post, I'll monitor for replies.
  23. Makes you think...: North Shore-style mountain biking ace Ryan Leech noticed something about how children regard elite athletes about a year ago, and he responded by changing his path. While some highly gifted pros duck the responsibility of being role models, he pursued it.<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Leech began building a dazzling array of mountain-bike trials skills at the age of 13, and has launched a high-flying career as a mountain bike entertainer who brings the thrill of the jumps, pivots, bunny hops and spins performed out on nature trails back to audiences in urban settings. The 28-year-old Port Moody resident practices his craft on the world-renowned <?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />North Shore mountain trails, where he has starred in scenes for epic movies that shaped the sport, such as the Kranked Series, Ride to the Hills, and The Collective. ?I?m in a fortunate position,? he said, before performing for and speaking to students at Ridgeview Elementary School in West Vancouver on Wednesday. ?It hit me a year ago when I was doing some tricks for students, and they were hanging on my every word.? ?I thought I should explore and expand on what I want to say.? Leech explains he decided he could give advice to youngsters, ?in my own way? and felt a greater satisfaction than simply entertaining with his amazing stunts. He agrees that perhaps, this new thrill of delivering an uplifting message renews the initial thrill he got from learning his craft on a bike. ?That satisfaction you get when you nail a line for the first time, maybe (connecting with kids) is the same kind of thing,? he said. ?I get really excited about doing these presentations for kids.? And the message he?s trying to teach is simple, yet hard to grasp for today?s young generation, he says. ?It boils down to listening to your heart,? he said. ?It may sound kind of cheesy, but with all the pressures on kids from parents, teachers, friends??do this, do that??it becomes difficult for them to figure out what they want to do.? And when Leech hits the road for his cross-Canada ?Trials of Life? tour this spring, environmental responsibility will also be a big part of the message. He plans to visit 50 schools, ?in some of the nooks and crannies? entertainers rarely make it to.
