  1. Enjoy! I'm heading off to Logwood on Saturday, hopefully with ThePanda.
  2. Stevo, the muddiest Hubber by far! I saw the iPod and was worried about it. Seriously muddy? It looked OK?
  3. Too early for me :-(
  4. The Thug, what does your research show? Which is better?
  5. I currently use White Lightning. I've never tried Squirt to I could be missing the best lube in the world (grin!). My bike is also now clean everywhere, except for the patch behind my rear shock between the swingarms that I couldn't reach and only noticed this morning (grr!). I even removed my brake pads, cleaned them with a cloth and buffed them with sandpaper. I also lubed last night after washing, my advice is invest in a Powerlink, then you can remove the chain and clean in an ice cream dish with FinishLine organic degreaser (BUT remember to lube straight away!!) Anyone else so dedicated :-)
  6. Just think of all the practice you are getting at basic bike maintenance BG!
  7. Thanks BigBen, I'll call Anton and check if he has
  8. Steve is still at home trying to get the mud out of everything muttering to himself "If I wantd to get muddy, I'd play in my sandpit..." Better than Mampara, he's still trying to explain to his mommy that it's not my fault that he got muddy, it's that nasty Tony making him splash through those dirty streams and puddles!
  9. Welcome back Tridude! You gotta start posting more. Then we can start having opinions about you, instead of just perving over your bike (that's enough Mampara, nothing to see here!).
  10. That's why he's so inconspicuous... This guy arrives at the parking lot and says "Hey, do you mind if I join you?" Now we're a nice bunch of 12 people, if someone wants to hang in with us, the more the merrier. Later we're chatting and it turns out that he read about the ride on the Hub and decided to pitch up! Awesome!
  11. Thanks for all the advice. I'll phone around and see what I can turn up, but a Stan's conversion sounds in order!
  12. Hi all, I've now got the narrow valve tubes on my MTB (Schraeder?) and I need to find tubes that have slime in them already. I believe Specialized makes these, but they are harder to find than a clean Pro rider ;-) Anyone know where I can find in Jhb, or how to install Slime in a normal tube with the narrow valve?
  13. Hey all! A great ride as always (what else do we expect when a group of great Hubbers get together?!) TheThug, thanks for leading the pack on the second half, I had to babysit my two friends at the back, Jancke hasn't ridden singletrack before and Timo doesn't ride regularly at all! I was very impressed that they made it! Stevo: took the medal for muddiest Hubber (the mud really didn't smell that bad?!) Dirt Rider: took the medal for biggest silly grin (actually that was toughly contested!) Cat-i: Toughest girl rider (you even smile whilst punishing us!) Bored Girl: took the sucker medal for stumbling into a mudslinging contest with DR The Thug: best route finder (you chose that first loop through Delta on purpose didn't you?) ThePanda: best improvement (whaddya mean you haven't been riding?!) Tridude: most inconspicuous Hubber Mampara: medal for fastest ordering at Cool Runnings (I saw how you nabbed the last Hunter's Gold!) Thanks to everyone for a great day out! We will definitely do it again soon!
  14. Nah, as per the last time this was posted (!) it is Hans Rey. See www.hansrey.com
  15. Yup, spot on. we will ride approx 15km/hr (that's kinda how fast I can go) and we want to ride at least 40km. Not sure where we will turn around, maybe top of Randburg, maybe after Witkoppen
  16. Sounds like you had fun!
  17. Desertbob lives outside Jhb, so he only makes it on special occassions. TheThug, I meant little less uphill to get home... DR, it's far... too far to cycle there! Erm, I'll look up the distance and get back to you... As a guideline, I live near and it's 30km to Midrand...
  18. He caught one in Amsterdam?!!! Is he sure that she wasn't hanging out under a red light for a reason?!!!
  19. Ah DR, so funny! Just make sure your bike is off the bakkie, your helmet is on and your beer money is safely tucked into your back pocket, and your one foot is clipped into your pedal at 6:59:59 and I'm happy!
  20. P.S. OK in the interest of having a little less uphill on the route, I am starting the ride from Emmarentia top gate as discussed. DR, I can help you find it if need be, off Thomas Bowler as Mampara suggested. Group: ThePanda MichH Superdad Bored Girl Stevo + dad Dirt Rider Mampara Cat-i (maybe) The Thug (maybe) Who have I forgotten?
  21. Cool Stevo I remember you well (you were phycho enough to go ride that dropoff!) See you there...
  22. The webbie is down at the mo. Have you subscribed to the mailing list? Meeting at same place, same time, this week is an intro ride of 25km. I can't make it though...
  23. popeye, the op was just questioning why his son could ride last year and not this year. I would also question it, he has a valid reason to ask! I don't think he falls into the category of results mad parents who push their kids to do everything to break the rules. As you can see, he enquired over email and was given the reason and an answer to his satisfaction. I believe it was handled correctly
  24. That's wrong ThePanda! Some of us have to work!
  25. Cool, see you early then!
