  1. My uncle was quite heavily into the Pretoria cycling scene in the 70's and 80's. Had to give it up a couple of years ago after having major back problems. He's been threatening to sell his early 80's Colnago (Full Campy, Mavic wheels) - in absolutely mint condition for quite some time. What prices are they getting these days?Battler2009-09-15 23:24:26
  2. I'm sure they'll propose a "Political Solution to a Legal Problem" . . . I wonder when Shabeer will get his pardon? The 23rd of April???
  3. I assume you guys are referring to Kareltjie?!! Ha Ha - the doctor of spin.....
  4. Bought quite a bit of stuff from Totalcycling.com over the past year or two.. You look at paying VAT and about R400 postage (its better to get a group of mates to buy "bulk"). Also remember that you will pay a slight "duty" on clothing. Got my new white DT Swiss wheels for just over half the price I would have paid in SA!!!!
  5. I sprinted for 6799th place in the 94.7
  6. (Tubbies that fit on a Clincher rim - Tufo Brand amongst others) I saw these on Supercycling the other night and I see that CWC Online is also selling them... Has anyone used them yet/before? Any comments?
  7. Just recently got a set of DT Swiss 1885 wheels (with the 240 Hubs). I cannot be happier, they rock....
  8. The bad guys here (and its always the same crowd) seems to be Platinum Africa - just read the complaints against these crooks on hellopeter.co.za http://www.hellopeter.com/comp_comment.asp?cid=691753
  9. Probably by the end of next year - there's a lot of technical issues around this though. It may protect you from being spammed, but it also puts a big dent in the business of financial collection agencies who need to track down loan defaults etc etc. They now don't have access to the kind of information they need to do their business. Your number is usually sold to these guys by the large gym groups.
  10. Its happening all the time - they're trying to get their jollies in before the Protection of Personal Information act stops all this nonsense.
  11. The Killers - Mr Brightsides
  12. I heard that Derek Van Dam's EFT's only take 5 minutes to process.
  13. My training wheels are exactly just that.... The wheels I use on the indoor trainer - I don't want my new DT Swiss beauties (in white nogal) getting hammered on the IDT.
  14. Get decent wheels! Best "bang for the buck" upgrade you can make.
  15. I had the same issue with last year's 94.7 - and I never wear the stickers. I remember receiving an envelope in the post with some MyPicture "advertising" and a couple of months later received a request for payment. I obviously replied that I never received any pics and also couldn't find any pics on their website that even closely resemble myself. I got no response and then BANG!, a few months later I got the same request for payment. Another snotty email later and still no reply .....
  16. Ha Ha.... The Star on a Reasonably Priced Trap-Fiets... We can have our own version of The Stig, dressed in full TT gear showing the guys the best lines.... Guest line up. Nathaniel Steve Hofmeyer Schalk Burger Brilliant idea!!!
  17. There was a cycling "feature" on Top Gear recently..... Richard Hammond beat the others in getting from Heathrow to London City airport on a bicycle.... It was hilarious watching him ducking and dodging London City busses in rush hour traffic, swearing like a trooper ...... BTW - the car came last after the bicycle, powerboat (Clarkson of course) and public transport..... Now this would be interesting.... Challenge: Starting at Monte Casino and finishing at Joburg Airport in morning rush-hour traffic. - AM on public transport (i.e. Minibus) - Owen driving a 1973 Cressida and... - Arnie on a "dik-wiel" bicycle!!!
  18. I suppose one can also ask what is the purpose of: Swimming South Africa Athletics South Africa Cricket South Africa etc etc etc
  19. What about a weekly spot with a top international Pro to discuss the latest innovations in performance enhancers? I'm thinking Ricco, Basso, Ulrich or Armstrong.....
  20. Jeez guys, Its a helluva lot better than "Oor die Kole met Kobus and Toks" or even "Inside Edge"
  21. Nahh, just a couple of bumps. Nothing more, you should be able to match your Hyper to Hyper time... HA HA HA HA!!! Was going up Hogs Hill so slowly on Saturday that my Polar refused to give me a speed reading . . .
  22. Mark, I absolutely agree with you, This is not the first time a nasty/horrible motorbike accident has happened on the route. It is by no means an easy "track" and these absolute mullets put everyone's life in danger with their antics. The JMPD can make an absolute fortune setting up a nice Sunday morning speed trap there...
