If you have Millions of Dollars like Bill Gates, then any bike costing less than a Million Dollars is a budget bike.... So it depends on how much you have and can afford. If it is at a price you can easily afford, then it is a budget bicycle.....

Had cramps during my first two races as well although I took bananas during the races. With the 94.7 - NO CRAMPS!!. I took more fluids during the event and it helped me.... Perhaps you don't take enough fluids during your event?

You will be allowed on the Bakwena Highway on a motorcycle....

No training needed if you use a motorcycle....

IMHO: It all depends on the route. Heavy hills, go for the 50x34 and the 12-25. Flats: 53x39 and 11-21, otherwise the 53-39 and 11-23 should be fine.

Thanks Eugene. Where has Avalanche gone to? I had a Reflex that was stolen 5 years ago and enjoyed the bike very much. It was on the heavy side though, but ride quality was excellent. Did Avalanche close shop or were they taken over by another manufacturer?

It's very interesting that the authorities closes the Shoulder lanes at Allendale during peak traffic. How idiotic is this? The traffic issue was on Carteblanche past sunday. What can we do if the idiot behind the controls decide: "Let's see how I can f*(kup the traffic today"? The dumb sh!t sits in his office and can monitor the traffic flow. Peak traffic through Buccluech interchange is not like in the old days from 16:30 - 17:00, but from around 15:00 - 19:30. I wish I could take my bicycle to work and back. Will get good base training on a very regular basis! Unfortunately, sharing the road with motorists tends to be a problem....
