  1. I would just like to tell the guys involved in all the maintenance work done to the single tracks in Tokai a super huge well done. 10 out of 10. Sorry to admit this online but I just came down there a few hours ago. Only problem is I noticed that some folk had actually driven the palstic ribbons off that closed some of the trails as well as the red markers. So sad, but non the less the single track below the mamba is awesome, smooth and super fast. I havent seen it like this in many years. Well done guys well done
  2. Really did he say that, he didnt even score much runs for the whole tournie, what a (^**%
  3. I think so, couldnt have been more than 15 cyclists, rather a stupid idea as they decided to cross a red light almost got taken out by a taxi and side swiped by a turning car. Yes they are allowed to ride in the bicycle but ride in all the lanes across the road?
  4. Well, I wouldnt call them chokers. It just comes down to poor selection. Where are all the impact players? The batsmen that the bowlers think about not getting hit for six - gibbs, kemp, levi?? I am not surprised they lost seeing how they scraped thru almost each game leading to this
  5. This morning coming from greenpoint into riebeek street in cape town, there was a very very large group of cyclist riding in both lanes on the road. Then turning into bree street, some were riding in the bicycle lane and others just could be bothered. It lookied like all single speed bikes, and the guys were all dressed casually. No why is it that no one can ever ride a bike with consideration for the cars on the road, and then most importantly for themselves. If a car had to ride into them then what?? another title like " RECKLESS DRIVER KNOCKS DOWN 12 CYCLISTS" really now guys............
  6. this is the problem with mechanical disc brakes. You have to have them adjusted after every ride. I have upgraded mine to hydraulic after a fall down some single track. However as long as you adjust the pads by the caliper you will be fine
  7. I have the same problem with mine, adidas doesnt want anything to with. I replaced mine twice. My first and last pair of adidas. I still like oakley and have ordered me a new pair.
  8. weight is not against you, gravity is with you
  9. this is pathetic, so members of the public must now do the work of people us tax payers pay to do!!! whats up with that. Why cant government take a 30% cut in the millions of rands salaries per yearm decrease spending budgets and then maybe they can complete the housing projects they promised and higher more civil servants
  10. what you guys think of kenda excavator, I have that on the rear of my hardtail, still new, used it in the argus mtb challenge and it grips very well on all the dry stuff
  11. I hear you mix. I am in a similar situation. You will have to practise riding hills. I am and there is a slight difference, hopefully soon I will be able to sprint uphill
  12. Yes indeed, all the technical trail and downhill stuff is normally standing, even climbing hills, at some point you tend to stand
  13. i would say go with the ibis, what a way to learn a beatiful bike. It not like its a horse and its gonna throw you! Besides the ibis should be alot more trail friendly
  14. then they should be banned and deserved to be banned whether for fun raising or not. If you cant take the time out to follow procedure then you should face the consequences
  15. Surely they would have made arrangements to do it twice for charity!!
  16. really, thats is good. In my opinion that should not have happened, riding the route twice. It shows nothing but inconsideration to the next person. After all they had their chance, enjoyed it, and then went to spoil it for the slower riders. So well done to the organisers for picking up on this and banning them
  17. Damn this post is long started to scan alot of the replies. However dont take it so serious, gees I thought the argus was a fun ride to be enjoyed by all. If you wanna be serious about seeding, the time you took etc, then see if you can make it as a pro! Then you can complain about seeding and race times. What difference does it make where he started and why? Sorry but i find this topic to be very ..................... cant even think of a word damn!!
  18. Yeah, it looks real nice, well done. Which way to turn the brake bosses loose? is it the std rightie tightie, left loosey?
  19. Well according to the 2011 epic guide, this will be held on the 27 march. The route looks to start at the chrysallis academy then up past the restaurant towards silvermine and up and down and I thin towards the bridal path and then back down to the acadamy
  20. 2 years ago my dad took my then 6 year old son there for a bicycle. He came back with a big air ramp bike with no brakes. I was like how is he gonna ride this? anyways I took the bike back and spoke to a number of different people and looked at a number of different bike options. My dad paid over 2k for the bmx, unbelievable. I decided not to change but requested them to add some brakes as it is definately not safe for my son to ride. They added the brakes, front and back, they never charged for it, but i think that is because I made a noise about the whole affair as my son was there with my dad to buy the bike. Magnet cycles has moved from the main road, dont know where to
  21. Yes Indeed i am always friendly, When I see someone needing help I will go over to help, be it that they are being robbed or whatever. Not all cyclists are from plush neighbourhoods!!! which is what I was trying to say. I havent moved away from my roots, in fact I am next door. The only difference is that I am not exposed to gang violence, but I see the okes daily, as they pass through the area that i now live in. As far as sheltered is concerned, no part of the country is sheltered from crime, it is just certain areas are homes to gangs and drugs, other areas are there to feed the druggies, hence all the break ins, hijackings etc
  22. Like I said we will need thousands, someone suggested setting up a "sting if you will" during last week. This is a great idea, but who is gonna be the bait? a trap has to be set in order to catch these okes. If the police cant do it, then I am sure a large group of MTB's can make a citizens arrest. hmmmmm(wringing hands with an evil grin) now all we need is a citizens jail.
  23. I come from the cape flats where things are pretty tough. Through out my youth we learned how to counter such instances. This is why we have a violent society. When we used to ride bikes, we use to carry baseball bats, metal rods etc. I know what you are talking about with these 2 guys, came across that kinda situation enough times. I now carry a tazer as well as a retractable metal security baton. in the old days you should have seen the look on these guys faces when you pulled out a baton of soughts as you ride up to them. A buddy of mine had one with nails in it inspired by mad max. It is unfortunate, but this is part of south africa, it is a k@k mentallity, but what can we do as idividuals, we need thousands before we are heard and millions under the counter for action
  24. sorry to do this, just going on the topic, but is there any mtb clubs in the cape town or southern suburbs area
