  1. ha ha Was a better attempt than American Flyer I suppose.
  2. Sorry GO... But one of the guys I ride with has an Idol, it is sooooo nice. And there is also this one guy I ride with sometimes, he has the new Dogma, with the Charisma wheels and finishing kit... I don't know where to look... I nearly crashed I was in such awe...
  3. Nevermind the colours, that De Rosa Idol is the hottest bike on the planet!
  4. Saw him fall, not surprised bob_the_builder2008-03-03 05:16:17
  5. Nah, 2002 was 2nd Overall GC in Tour of Malaysia, the same race as Langkawi I think?
  6. Especially since their sponsor sponsors the event And everyone here is tipping DG for a podium
  7. Mr Hunter is not a GC rider. He's never won the Giro, and I doubt he ever will. They'll ride for their climbers. Hunter will most probably win Argus (and if one of the stages in the Giro ends up to be a bunch gallop, probably that too). Odd that, he has one several tours overall already... 2007 Tour de Picardie FRA Stage 1 - 1st and Leaders Jersey Stage 2 - 2nd and Leaders Jersey Overall victory on GC and Point Jersey Volta ao Santarem POR Stage 1 - 2nd Stage 2 - 1st and Leaders Jersey Stage 3 TT - 2nd and Leaders Jersey Overall victory on GC 2004: Tour of Qatar overall victory (ok, that's as flat as a pancake) If you doubt his climbing ability, he has a second overall in the tour of Malaysia, and I remember the one year at Mapei he came back here to ride the Jock, punctured at the bottom of Boulders, then caught and passed the leaders before the top...
  8. Hey, this is weird. On today's ride, I had a Jungle Energy Bar, the dark chocolate one, and when I had finished it, I was just about to drop the wrapper, and I thought, ' that's not right', so I stuffed it back in my pocket and chucked it in the bin at home. Now I read this. Cool. I'm a good guy then bob_the_builder2008-03-01 12:30:15
  9. Dunno, no-one ever has to replace Fulcrum bearings, and the spokes are off the shelf at most bike shops... But that said, I don't know of anyone breaking spokes with Fulcrums... bob_the_builder2008-02-29 07:45:36
  10. Campag Khamsin. You can spec it with a Sh!tmano freehub. That or a set or Fulcrum 7's, also available with Shimano freehub. They will look better and be stronget than your choices, I am certain they are cheeper too.
  11. even if you don't get on the track. Spin spin spin. Everytime you get on your bike. Do a 3 hour ride, stay in the small ring, don't go lower than the 15/16. Repeat daily. Easy.
  12. hey, I'm not stupid... Oh, wait, I'm married... Oh nevermind...
  13. Ya, I reckon if having a quickie was gonna mess up your race, you have some serious fitness issues. I also read that it's not the sex, its the partying all night trying to make it happen that is generally the problem.
  14. As in whenever you can get it?
  15. Like that poor oupa in bedfordview that time
  16. This is almost as good as the SignUp initiative. Can we mail you our routes and the GPS co-ordinates of potholes? You do the rest?
  17. Sheesh, nasty road rash. But someone call the SPCA, he's traumatising that poor cat.
  18. About 12 odd years ago, we went training out South with Sheldon, Nic and a couple of others. My mate and I end up back at Sheldon's place after a 5 hour ride, just to maybe have some water and wash up before we drive back to Brakpan. Sheldon won't let us inside, and goes round back, pokes a hose pipe through the gate at us, and says we can have a bit of water. Me and Kev still laugh about it now.
  19. Bruce, I agree that the police have limited resources and need to prioritise their man-power usage. The point is if we keep breaking lesser laws, aren't we in fact contributing to their problem? If they have to supervise the speed we drive, if we stop at red lights and stop signs in our cars, not to mention our bikes, aren't we keeping them away from doing some better good somewhere else? Remember, the police have to try and enforce all the laws. Same as we are supposed to try and keep all the laws.
  20. If you would just use Campag, we could get along
  21. And when do you start worring? At what point does a crime become one where we have to do something about it? Breaking "minor" traffic laws is ok, how about drink driving? Speeding - and remember speed is relative to the conditions - at, say for example, 60kmh, in front of a school, where the advertised limit is only 40? Have you seen the damage a car does to a human being, especially a little human when travelling at 60kmh? Hell even at 40kmh for that matter. Are you going to be the only one with common sense who will tell us which laws are ok to break, and which laws are not ok? The fact of the matter is that breaking the law, any law, breeds a culture of lawlessness. And that culture of lawlessness is what SA has to worry about. You and me, individually we need to do our best to change that culture. Society and the culture it presents are not great monolithic structures that "they" or the state, or someone can change remotely. A society is made up of you and me. We need to change every little thing, first, for there to be any effect on the great big things
