  1. I had an unfortunate rock strike last night, first ride out on 'new-for-me' Saint pedals. Aaand that was all she wrote. Bent the Left spindle unfortunately. Anyone has a set of either of these pedals and maybe discarded or breaking up for some reason, I am keen for the left Spindle. Will pay sweet moneys, or exchange for another desirable bike bit. please let me know!
  2. OK, here's where I am left confused. You say that you want dual suspension, yet your reference bike - the Rockrider is a hardtail. With your back, I would guess FS is best, and a proper set up would be worth its weight in gold - since it will help with back issues. Also your budget is max R11k and I understand budgets, so max is max, it is just at R11k and full suspension, secondhand your only real option is either 26" or older 27'5 / 29 bikes. With that comes servicing and part replacement, which quickly adds up. Understand that R11k - albeit a solid chunk of money, does not go far in bicycling terms. That being said, there's normally plenty of serviceable machines out there, and most times, you can make a realistic offer to the seller. I assume you are on the fence between small and medium in terms of bike size based on your height? Size Small may be your best bet - as often these are difficult to resell, so you get nicer bikes for the same price as something like a med or large that has a wider audience. Here's some that you can look at - maybe save a bit on the buying price, and spend on upgrades and maintenance. https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/hardtail-mountain-bikes/569144/gt-avalanche-comp-shimano-deore-air-fork https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/hardtail-mountain-bikes/518456/silverback-stride-expert-m-1x12-airfork https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/hardtail-mountain-bikes/573614/giant-liv-29er-tubeless-like-new https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/dual-suspension-bikes/573649/volcan-fs-pro-26-full-carbon https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/hardtail-mountain-bikes/573559/29er-medium-gt-karakoram-comp-mtb-air-fork https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/dual-suspension-bikes/563794/giant-trance-x https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/dual-suspension-bikes/572436/giant-trance-x3-soft-tail https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/dual-suspension-bikes/570405/commencal-meta-55
  3. You know how to cut to the core of me Philip!
  4. I print plenty of tools and bits for my bike, bearing press for pivot bearings, internal routing kit using a shift cable inner, bolt bullet assembly guides, even spacers, chainguide up front and a whole bunch more
  5. I once asked a guy on availability and his price on an item he had removed before I contacted him, and so I wasn't sure what he was asking. When he told me his price, I could not justify paying that amount, so I thanked him for his communication and bowed out - not to lowball him. He tuned me: Such good manners, I'll drop the price by 20% - and that price I could justify. So I thanked him and paid the man.
  6. I just got an offer at 25% of what I advertised an item for with this. "I'm a student and don't have a lot of money..." I can not even.
  7. This morning got "stood up" (ghosted) by a buyer. Incredibly annoying. Yes I want it, do you ever come to the Southern Suburbs. My reply: Sure I have a meeting there on Friday morning. Buyer: Great, bring it along on Friday (with little arm flexing emoticon.) ...and that was all she wrote. I gave time and place. and no replies. Common decency would just be to say - sorry, not interested anymore or whatever. I messaged to follow up, and nothing.
  8. I've been riding the FOMO in my rear. True, it is a sealant sucker of note, and I'm not sure how effective it is, but my rear rim is too precious (I chose to use this word yes) to risk a crack. And I have previously had to walk to my car from Jonkershoek saaltjie after a cracked rear rim on Iron Monkey 8 and would prefer not to repeat that.
  9. Meezo, I know Bos is looking to give them a try without committing to buy - if you are going to get rid of them, drop him a message, I'm sure he would appreciate it.
  10. Similar, had the uber driver literally wanting to load electronics and leave and I told him to hang on until funds cleared. At that point it starts costing the scammer solid money - cause uber driver charges for waiting. After around 10minutes, the guy freaked out and started screaming at me and the driver and the driver shrugged and left. The longer you can keep the driver occupied - the more it costs the scammer...
  11. I've had a couple of close calls in that corner, especially with the erosion there. And also in the holidays now, there was a guy riding up the trail - and I almost had a head on right in that corner. Sheesh man, hope you feel/get better soon! I'll have to take back my local legend status now
  12. I changed connectors on my lights, and use my old RC car 7.2V batteries... Been working flawless and are pretty cheap if I had to relpace them.
  13. If I deduce correctly - @Grapgat37 you went down close to the two jumps at the end of the whoop section? Moerdyk, the speed you carry at the end there... that crash must have happened incredibly quickly! I'm glad you are OK - even if only sort-of. At that pace it could have been worse. Are you the gent that's been nabbing the 'local legend' status' on Helderberg over the last few weeks? Someone mentioned your name in a conversation, and i thought I'd spotted it before.
  14. In a pinch, cut down one of your cage bolts or use a disc rotor bolt and a single washer.
  15. Have to agree with Bos, that last climb had me wondering what I was doing there... Then the last descent I was laughing at myself for how little bike control I had left in my noodle arms while bouncing around on my front wheel. Super fun, great event! Well done Chris and team!
  16. Sjo Sjo, will need to get fitter!
  17. not that I can remember - came on rolls. Would cut as much as you need.
  18. I'm on brass shimstock from NFM to use my 30.9 dropper with my 31.6 frame - works perfectly albeit a pain to install. Once its in though - no slips, and no creaks.
  19. Is it just me - or are more of you getting offers and once you agree to the price - never hear from the buyer again?
  20. You know its been a rough few months if you are excited about brake pads, sealant top-ups and new chain lube... I am.
