  1. I dig that vibe, but will pass - I'll end up with chainmail
  2. aaand lycra for male ballerinas I don't know what male is for ballerina. Ballerista? Ball-exhibitionist? Jokes. I get why - but not a fan and they just don't look right on my skateboard - er, em with flat pedals and sneakers
  3. I have no issues with Maxed if they look/work lekke. Padded etc?
  4. It seems they only do two versions - both Upadded
  5. Hey guys, I've now officially worn my Fox Ranger and my el-cheapo baggies from the UK to bits and keen to get a nice new pair. I want a padded liner with the shorts - I'm not keen for a bib under a baggy or boardshorts. Any pointers of what to look for, where to look? Ideally not imports and I've destroyed google without satisfying results. Not keen on orange, neon yellow or even bright blues. Prefer grey, black or navy - or at least darker colours. I've already looked at: Fox Ranger new version - so far on topIndola enduro shorts - two zipper pockets at odd placesFirst Ascent Trail baggies - pretty good actually, but Med too small and large way too big.
  6. don't you trashtalk my trance! I loved my Trance. This machine is pretty special. Magic carpet
  7. Yes, it will be. Had a look at production artwork - moerdyk!
  8. I may or may not have lost it and went overboard... Split and parted out my bikes and built a new machine: Silverback Slider 150mm 29" prototype asymmetric frame - testing this, not available YET Fox Float Trunnion rear shock Reynolds TR309S Carbon 29" wheelset Fox Float 36 Elite 150mm fork XFusion 150mm dropper Shimano Zee brakes Icetech rotors 180mm F/R 35mm Sector Trail bars, 45mm stem Borntobefast enduro lockon grips Ryder Copy Spez saddle (not sure I like this yet) To accompany this I also got a Fox dropframe helmet I'm running a mix of tyres since my back end clearance on the prototype does not yet allow my Rekon 2.6" GX Eagle drivetrain No decent photos of the complete yet.
  9. cool. My personal experience - same as a lot of guys on here. Fox 36 is magic. Expensive magic. It works unbelievably well. Stiff and plush. Fox 34 is very good - I just think it looks skinny on big bikes, other than that no complaints. Mattoc Pro 3 29", 140mm - easily as good as the Fox 34. And more tuneable - pro level features on a budget. Pike - awesome fork. Fit and forget - which is why I love RS. Revelation (charger damper) - can not beat this on a budget. I literally own all three top listed forks and have ridden all 5. I can't speak for the MRP, DVO, Marzocchi, Ohlins, helm or Mezzer pro. But its hard to believe they'll beat my experience on these. *sidenote edit: setup + volume spacers will do a lot for your fork of choice. I run my forks pretty hard, so may not experience diving or blowing through travel that guys at low pressures may experience.
  10. There's plenty of really good comparison tests online. On BH though, opinions will be your guiding light... First of all - what travel range are you looking at? Secondly - what is your budget - and are you looking for new or secondhand? Since that can greatly influence availability at your budget. And then thirdly - what will you be using the fork for? What type of riding do you do?
  11. https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/361451-stans-flow-s1-2019-on-promax-hubs/ you should have dropped me a pm
  12. I have one suggestion you can try before starting to rebuild/service, if it is still smooth and feels good. Flip your bike upside down, deflate the positive air, then see if you can pull the fork on the lowers to 160mm extension. if yes - keep pulling and re-inflate to pressure. I don't know why this works, but it did for me after i heard it somehwere.
  13. Not all 'new bike days' are blasting through berms and hitting jumps...
  14. I promise you very few mechanics even have a torque wrench - they all have a "technique" pinky feel or wrist kink or feel or whatever. I personally also have a "technique" and not a wrench. Only thing is that I'm not paid o build or service bikes, and only put my own life or money at risk with my technique. A few years ago my GF at the time bought a new Scott Fs from a very reputable dealer without me present, and immediately went for a ride. When I came over after work, I had a look at her brand new bike and found at pivot and shock bolts to be completely loose - as in - I could take them out by hand- loose. I was actually surprised that the bike stayed together over the ride. I was plenty pissed off with the shop as she could have been seriously hurt. Taking this up with the shop, they responded with "will train staff better in the future" blah blah, and come in for coffee and an apology". Point being is I don't trust your "feeling" when working on my bike - that's why torque settings and torque wrenches exist -oh yes and loctite.
  15. @nick and @admin - maybe requirements should be 10 posts or something like that before you can start replying on classifieds (dm/email or see phone number) or posting to classifieds?
  16. Perfect example of dealings. Starts off semi good and then nothing further.
  17. Probably not a key issue, but something I do miss, and if I get a direct email without a screen name, I have no idea who that person is, so feedback is off the table. Also credibility.
  18. A seller can ask whatever price he or she wants, it is my choice to engage, bargain, buy at full price or even look at the ad. I may judge the price in my mind and think that person is nuts, but still not my place to complain about it. On the other hand, if I'm selling and you engage me, you have those same rights - my price does not have to fit your pocket or perception. You don't have to buy it. You may point me in the right direction - with references, and I'll probably see the light. My best price is 'bugger off' . I'm not in the habit of bargaining and lowballing myself. I do sell things as bargains, and sometimes close to retail - but only if it is brand new or a niche item that's difficult to find. If you say you'll take something, ffs, that in my opinion is pretty darn set in stone. Rather tell me that you changed your mind than just dissapear, especially if I removed the ad since the item is spoken for. I won't sell it to someone else if you told me that, but then i'm losing out if you just vanish. I think i just want common decency, amongst mostly lekker community.
  19. I've had a guy pitch up with a brand new mode of transport with all the extras visibly added - then look at and insult my bike condition (which I described accurately and truthfully - and had photos of all angles including stone chips) at a very good price, and then brag about his expensive toys at home whilst telling me that my bike is actually out of his budget. Then proceeded to tell me he needs to go look at other bikes since mine is "more used than he thought". Then kept messaging me that he is still looking at other bikes; "before making me an offer" and so it was with great pleasure that I could reply: sorry, since you've been taking your sweet time, the bike has been sold and you missed out on a bargain. Good luck finding a bike in your "budget" especially with your tyre-kicking manner.
  20. you have that down, almost like you've been practicing?
  21. What is happening to Bikehub classifieds?! Loads of lowball offers in direct messages from guys that's been on the forum for 3 or 4 years, but not a single post. Ad goes up for R1200 for a brand new item that sells for R2200 - and guyX with zero posts sends pm in 1min offering R800. No hellos or formalities, no bargaining, no questions, no courteous chatter - just an amount with a question mark. R800? Not a single comment on the ad. Where's the days of "dibs" and "PM sent" - or is everyone scared that if they show interest someone else is going to buy it first? Yesterday I sold a bunch of items over BH, and not a single comment on the ads - but plenty of Pm's and mails. Not sure I like the new BH classified vibe - feels more like gumtree?!
  22. Hey man, Moerdyk its a good bike - and that's before you look at the spec for the price...then it's a VERY good bike! Suspension feels well supported yet bottomless, flies well and lands without drama. My vote is get one if you have the means.
  23. that seems to work... but I would hazard a guess - only on downhills.
  24. Please no! On the ups I had 32/42 to get me up there. I tried a singlespeed for one G-Spot session, and hated the ups, and spun out on the downs.
