  1. awe, I'll look at both these options. Thanks gents
  2. Hey guys, I am looking for an app or solution to time buddies doing a fun enduro. Un-offical enduro event. My ideal solution would be a real-time stopwatch over two or more devices that can start/stop from two different phones. So guy at the top hits start button, and then the timer at the bottom hits the stop button. If this system could store each rider's time, that would be even better - and if it could accumulate, order and save overall times to names or number of users that would be off the charts fantastic. Anyone know of a solution like this?
  3. One of my friends organized a test tyre for me - it is nuts!
  4. Post Jonkershoek enduro fixes and upgrades: New rear end and new bearings New saddle New carbon handlebar Maxxis Dissector rear Good times.
  5. nee ou, jy moet bietjie rustig raak, jy laat ons ander pa's bietjie skaam word
  6. or this: https://silverbacklab.com/bike-model/mountainbikes/superspeed-2/
  7. yes, they're the new standard lock-ons. Works well with and without gloves. The bike feels like a shorter travel trail rocket. I'm in the process of "negotiating" for a frame only to see how it goes with more trail orientated parts on it...
  8. Not my bike, but demo Stratos AL3 on Helderberg. Had super fun on this xc/marathon/light trail bike.
  9. In Giant only the Stance is similarly priced at R28k... So I would not go that route. QR, budget frame etc... The Merida 120 at R27500 is an 11spd bike with a SR Suntour fork and does not have a dropper post. The frame on the SB AL3 is the same frame that you'll get on the AL1. Sure for more money you can buy a better bike. But if this is your price bracket - you'll have to have a hard time beating the AL3. Ride quality is great, parts are decent and geo makes it a great all-rounder.
  10. OK, I actually got to ride one this AM - AL3. Good times. I actually typed a decent review and then accidentally deleted it before sending. So here is the condensed version. Climbs: really well - composed, great traction. No bobbing, even when suspension fully open. Traverses - singletrack rallying: Super nimble, feels fast and playful Descends - Not an enduro bike. Not supposed to be. Descends like a light trailbike. Really fun, rips! Initial reservations overcome by ride: Tyre choices. Like: Geometry spot on. Handles like its on rails. Dropper opens up world of play. Dislike: Brakes felt overwhelmed at the speeds the bike allowed me to carry. Overall: moerdyk its a fun bike. If I was in the market, I would get one. And then immediately change the brakes to Deore. Permanent smile glued on: Check I am a fan, also a logical guy - and I call a spade a spade.
  11. Listen, Oli Munnik entered on a Signal with a fox 32 100mm on, Nils on a Mercer with a 32mm Revelation, Ad with a Mercer etc - and there were plenty more.
  12. It is a brand spanking new platform and not all models have been released yet - so reviews will be scarce. There is a thread on here of guys riding the AL5. It is obviously a more affordable model spec wise, but share the same frame. Ask the guys on there for their 5c.
  13. I think your problem start with South Africans and reddit - not used in the age brackets that will give you solid advice. The Stratos bikes are remarkable for many reasons - all of them good. Ride quality and geometry is spot on for xc, marathon and trails and the quality of the product as well as after sales support is very good. Silverback will always be best bang for your buck when buying new without compromising on quality. I've seen the AL3 in the flesh - and can tell you that it Looks good!
  14. What year was your Sido? Sesta will use your own parts but leave you with a lot better bike, where as a Stratos AL will leave you needing new parts to suit. I would suggest asking if there's alternative options if you are not happy with the proposed offer, and to give them the opportunity to respond (If you have not yet). A good idea at least before the BH pitchfork brigade comes out with torches blazing.
  15. Any cool crash stories - and long term injuries from the event? I saw a gent with cracked ribs at the medic tent - that went down on Plumber.
  16. I had my doubts going into Jonkers enduro this past weekend on 2.6" Maxxis Rekons both front and rear, but they were spot on for the conditions. Plenty of grip when needed and enough let go to have serious fun in the berms.
  17. Kind of like I was hit by a smallish car. The super smelly stuff the medics coated me with did wonders for sleeping and wearing clothes - I'm getting some of that. Nothing sticks to my wounds - like magic. But yes, today I won't be riding a bike. Stoke levels - still pretty darn high. You?
  18. I had such a rad time right up to the point I ran out of skill on Armageddon. What a great day of riding with mates! Tonight I will sleep well... on my right side only.
