  1. At 1.7m I can't imagine the M being too large for you? Sure you are right on the border. Maybe a shorter stem and moving seat forward on the rails?
  2. Mine. Mine. Mine. Prototype Silverback Enduro frame XL - currently on 140mm (also adjustable to 150mm), Can't divulge too many details - but it rides ridiculously well. 3. Silverback Slade Trail and Comps are back in stock in the last week!!!!!
  4. Congrats on that weight! If you want to shed some more - and improve riding experience at the same time, I would upgrade the brakes. Every now and then a previous gen XT or even XTR Race set comes by on classifieds for cheap as chips and they will drop a few 100grams. Brakes makes a massive difference to riding experience.
  5. Digging the purple grips - great match and lekker build!
  6. Good luck! Patience is your friend. And good beer.
  7. a wire brush, about 6 sheets of sandpaper, vinyl masking decals, a roll of masking tape, good paint (primer, colour and clear varnish), around 8 hours of sanding and polishing, masking and painting, so essentially patience and then good car polish to finish it off.
  8. I have to agree - he should have contacted you before posting here. I've had to reshape based on an unhappy customer, so know the feeling. I've also been staring at your work long enough to know that this is not the norm. Maybe a good idea to contact the gent's dad to sort out from your side?
  9. Sjo, that is rough looking. Unfortunately in this case there can not be two sides to a story - if that's the quality of the finished product, and it was paid for, I would absolutely lose it if it was my bike. Those decals were auto traced in something like illustrator - it does that if you just hit auto trace and keep the results. without actually adjusting the lines and checking against the original... Sjo, come on Bogus, you surely must be able to spot the issues from a mile away - redo the bike for the gent.
  10. Stripped, then hand polished and painted my Slade. Then promptly sold it before getting to build it again.
  11. I stripped the Slade down, and polished/repainted then promptly sold it.
  12. Hey guys, Google has been no help so far - and I can't find satisfactory answers from the interwebs otherwise - so maybe one of you can help. I have a pair of bmx/dirt jump cranks - Primo Hollowbites that I'm wondering if they will fit onto my enduro bike. My jumpbike is threaded BB - and you can run gears on jumpbikes easy. but then need N/w up front... So: 1. will these fit on my enduro rig? 2. do you get N/w chainrings to fit single bolt bmx style cranksets? 3. Any good reasons not to? 4. good reasons to try other than being stronger than the hulk and great looking too? 5. Oh yes - chainring offset of jump bike vs boost enduro mtb offset - huh?
  13. awe, I'll look at both these options. Thanks gents
  14. Hey guys, I am looking for an app or solution to time buddies doing a fun enduro. Un-offical enduro event. My ideal solution would be a real-time stopwatch over two or more devices that can start/stop from two different phones. So guy at the top hits start button, and then the timer at the bottom hits the stop button. If this system could store each rider's time, that would be even better - and if it could accumulate, order and save overall times to names or number of users that would be off the charts fantastic. Anyone know of a solution like this?
  15. One of my friends organized a test tyre for me - it is nuts!
  16. Post Jonkershoek enduro fixes and upgrades: New rear end and new bearings New saddle New carbon handlebar Maxxis Dissector rear Good times.
  17. nee ou, jy moet bietjie rustig raak, jy laat ons ander pa's bietjie skaam word
  18. or this: https://silverbacklab.com/bike-model/mountainbikes/superspeed-2/
  19. yes, they're the new standard lock-ons. Works well with and without gloves. The bike feels like a shorter travel trail rocket. I'm in the process of "negotiating" for a frame only to see how it goes with more trail orientated parts on it...
  20. Not my bike, but demo Stratos AL3 on Helderberg. Had super fun on this xc/marathon/light trail bike.
  21. In Giant only the Stance is similarly priced at R28k... So I would not go that route. QR, budget frame etc... The Merida 120 at R27500 is an 11spd bike with a SR Suntour fork and does not have a dropper post. The frame on the SB AL3 is the same frame that you'll get on the AL1. Sure for more money you can buy a better bike. But if this is your price bracket - you'll have to have a hard time beating the AL3. Ride quality is great, parts are decent and geo makes it a great all-rounder.
