  1. Okay, I scrolled up and down looking for the attractive blonde babe ????
  2. Go To settings - general - software update I am running OS 5.1.1 on my iPad II
  3. Who is Neil and are you serious about him been caught with pricy stolen bikes? As for taking the bike apart, the shop owners simply need to look for the roval wheels, brain shock with the adjuster at the top (new) and of course, the very unique black frame which is the high cost item. Come on guys, let's find this one... maybe the dude will follow Jason's example (olympic cycles) 'sorry bud, this one is stolen, bring the papers and I'll give it back to you'
  4. Don't you get those little solar panel chargers for PSPs, iPods etc?
  5. Steelman, I have posted this link on the Tygerberg MTB facebook page...the more people read this, the greater the chances of recovering your bike.
  6. Steelman, I have the exact same bike, stock standard and I'm probably going to put the same tyre on at it's next service which is this week. I feel your pain, especially since we waited so long for the frikking bike to be released. I suggest getting Specialized to send out an alert to all their stores (there's only 26 of them country wide) and tell them to look out for your serial number. Bobby told me that there are very few mediums in the country so the shops don't even need the serial number. Check the bike and ask for the papers...It'll probably surface at some side street bike shop though but who knows... There are a few in Northern suburbs, get in touch with Deon at Cyclefunatic -- great service (where I got mine), he has one on the floor but i think it's a large. Good luck.
  7. Of course it's about money....Garmin doesn't stand a chance of getting in because if they did, Polar would throw their toys big time and withdraw from the exclusive deal. Let's try add another chain of gyms to the vitality pgm.... hmmm, I know exactly where that proposal will end up. Garmin is no different. Whilst visiting my LBS (small setup) for some retail therapy, I asked a question about why he doesn't stock Garmin (i like supporting the small guys but had to buy my garmin 800 at another store). His answer, "Garmin won't supply him with stock..."
  8. similar issue: same store but my problem is Giro MTB gloves. The dye comes off and stains my hands. Giro says it was a bad batch and gave me a new pair after waiting for two weeks and following up myself. Guess what, the replacement pair must also be a bad batch as it has same problem. The gloves are R500 and was the most expensive pair Cyclelab had in stock. The gloves are going back after the Grape Escape and Argus, and I'm staying away from the brand.
  9. Coffee, sprite zero, coffee, and Windhoek light.....( or any other decent beer if I run out)
  10. Sorry lads, that's exactly what I went through in the last couple weeks, bled the brakes and it solved MY problem.
  11. Very cool comparison. I've only just started cycling and I'm doing the Epic this year so I now know what else is on the bucket list...
  12. An interesting read guys, I too am doing the Epic and being my first, have been debating the hiring of a dedicated mechanic team. I had no idea that you get walk-ins and would be peeved if I paid that kind of money and some guys got their bikes fixed while I waited or got 2nd hand service....
  13. What you don't know is that their service is even better in the store...Eat your heart out guys! I serviced my bike a few weeks ago and a few days later received a follow-up call, not from some marketing company that does zip about your complaint, but by one of the family members 'herself'. Had minor problem and was told to bring my bike in immediately.... The only problem I have is that they cannot stock my preferable bike make. Ps Veg NT, do yourself a favour, give Chris Senior a call, you won't be sorry. They are human and do make mistakes but he'll sort it out. Gavin
  14. If you don't want one, decline or give it to the first kid you see. I have only just entered the sport but played football at a decent level. I tossed my little cups and medals over the years until I won 3 in the same year and my son asked if he could have them .... He has collected everything his Dad has earned on the sports field ever since then, including Attakwas and today's event. My point being, what's not important to one, may be very important to others. Ps I should get a medal for reading this Thread....
  15. Not sure what you're saying here? Have you found/seen a bike that was possibly stolen or was your bike possibly stolen in the Parow/Goodwood area?
  16. I trust you've ridden in Majik, Hillcrest, Meerendal area? If you're staying on a farm in durbanville, it's your backyard. Great rides all around the northern suburbs, and they are all well marked.

    Attakwas 2012

Have sent you a PM.... might have some good news for you.
  18. Well said. I could not give a toss if it's a pro rider or not, unless of course, he needs a partner for the Epic and is prepared to push my bike with me on it!
  19. Two biggest challenges of all time: a) Take the bikes out for a test drive? where? B) stock of 2012 29ers... I have been trying for months to get a Scott Spark RC or Pro, not mention the Specialized S-works Epic or Expert and the supply is laughable... ps The Scott Pro was the editor's choice (value for money) in the January edition of The Bicycling mag
  20. Tour de Vino 45km was my first ever cycle ride (cannot call it a race as it took me 3 hours 3 min) and I'm hooked. Did 3 Majik forest rides (15km round trip from my house in Welgemoed) this year, all in the 3 weeks pre TdV as my training (15 * 3 = 45) and suffered like hell after 18km when the cramps in the calves struck..... By the time I reached the 'king of the mountains' I was praying that the calves don't lock up completely until I at least reached the top but things went my way and they held out until the end. One thing that hit home was the lack of spirit amongst the cyclists, is it always like that or was it just because the conditions were miserable for some?
  21. Pedal, thanks for sharing your experience. Other riders: I wish more hubbers that participated would contribute. I am intrigued by the event and would love to take part eventually but simply don't know enough e.g. how the bike park works, getting your own mechanic, and hey, how about that 'different type of shorts' tip? How does one get an entry is probably the most important point and next, how does one prepare and then know when you're ready to tackle the EPIC? Lastly, the organisers need to publish more stats e.g. how many riders opted for a soft tail (per age group etc as I'm just over 40), which bike make featured most, how many riders bailed out, their ages, and at what point in the event (ps I won't call it a race)? Stats, stats, stats....feed me!
  22. The budget was initially around R15k but I?ll stretch it to R18k ? R20k if I?m getting much more. As for test riding bikes, I could only find one supplier that gave me that option. I was given a Giant (not sure if it was the Anthem or Trance) to test ride last year and after I decided the bike was me, I was told the components on the bike were not standard and that I was looking at an extra R10k if I wanted it as is. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Is there a ?try my bikes? supplier in the <?:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Western Cape that has demos (the 3 that I'd like to look at is Merida, Trek, and Giant)? I wouldn't think so as it must be quite costly...
  23. Help! I'm in the market for a new MTB and now that I have finally decided to go the full suspension route, I don't have the faintest idea of what bike to buy. I am a 40 year old rookie that hasn?t been on rides longer than an hour (?magic forest? for the CT hubbers) but it?s time for me to venture out, put my R3,500 hard-tail 'jobbie? out to farm, and spend some cash on a decent bike. Whatever I decide on, the bike must be good enough for me to be able to do long distance events, be it at the back of the pack?<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Where to start? Well, the million dollar question is price. I started looking at bikes in the R12k to R14k region and for a little more you can get X, and then Y, and now Z. I am currently looking at the Merida Mission 2000 for R18k. I like the bike but I am not so keen on the components (not that I know much about it). Ps After seeing comments about cracked frames etc , I?ll only consider new bikes. Does anyone have any comments or suggestions? Where to start, what to avoid etc? Much appreciated?.
