  1. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/21097-broken-bridge-on-spruit/page__hl__bridge+on+spruit found the link, it appears Durtbreff was going to speak to someone, don't know if he ever did...
  2. It doesn't cost a fortune but don't underestimate what it can cost.... Danger Dassie and a friend put in a lot of time and effort to fix one of the bridges at the bottom of Delta Park a couple of years back. I volunteered to buy the materials thinking that it couldn't cost more than a couple of hundred rand, little did I know that the proper materials to cover a 1.5m2 section of bridge would cost close to R800. Obviously DD did an excellent job because it's held up for 2 years now I will happily get involved in this initiative. I can offer some elbow grease and/or a small donation towards materials? I can't remember if we needed/got permission but there was a thread.. I'll try to find a link Let me know when/where
  3. hey zuludog, maybe a bit more info would get you a better response. How often do you want to ride? what times, mornings/afternoons? what sort of speed? beginner rider or advanced? There are loads of hubbers that ride the spruit regularly, I'm sure you'll find someone suitable
  4. Yes I have' date=' many times before. I know dogs, I'm not scared of them, and it doesn't take much to see if a certain agressive dog will bite or not... Most dogs will run if you stop and attack them. Some won't but that's where I use pepperspray and my judgement... Dogs are very sensitive, if you're confident while atacking or chasing them away, they'll know... Some dogs won't buldge and that's where you have to get off your bike and keep your bike between the dog and yourself - pepperspray immediately sends any dog in the opposite direction... [/quote'] I don't think I'm brave enough to try this. When I've been chased by dogs I've just ridden as fast as I can to get away and been fortunate so far... confronting a Jack Russel is one thing, confronting a Doberman a different story
  5. To all of you that want to stop and confront the dog....... have you ever tested this theory? just wondering
  6. Hey! I'm no sissy...
  7. You do know that it's a matter of time before some female hubber points out that not all girls are sissys? In fact, I know some girls who will ride the scary stuff better and/or faster that some guys (myself excluded ). Just a thought...
  8. Ha! at Sani2c they have 'Mild' or 'peri-peri' signs... no need to mention who one of the major sponsors is.
  9. Two hydrogen atoms walk into a bar. One says, "I've lost my electron." The other says, "Are you sure?" The first replies, "Yes, I'm positive..."
  10. Is Shanie Twain, Shania's afrikaans sister?
  11. I find this just a little bit creepy. and as foxxy pointed out, the chances that the bike will stay there are very, very remote. I see a whole new industry for stolen "ghost bikes"
  12. As sung by Kenny Rogers "You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, Know when to walk away and know when to run." Just great! Now I'm gonna have this song stuck in my head for the rest of the day... PLEASE bring back the dead-people pictures rather....
  13. Mr G, let it go dude. We've all moved on to what Andrew and Robbie are tweeting about.. Stooge #1
  14. 101? Yeah.. that's the one. I wonder whatever happened to it I also remember getting Michael Jacksons album 'Dangerous' for my 18th birthday. It was a double LP and probably the last year that LP's were mass produced.
  15. ocram, it's so funny that you say that... because I had the exact same thought. The irony of hijacking a hijacking thread..... I hope I don't get 17 rounds
  16. well muds' date=' we have gone from shooting people to hugs and kisses haven't we? My job here is done [/quote'] Not completely, you have a $%# load of hugs and kisses to prepare for at Transbaviaans! No problem, hugging and kissing is my speciality... identifying you might be a problem though, so I'll just have to hug and kiss everyone til I find you
  17. well muds, we have gone from shooting people to hugs and kisses haven't we? My job here is done
  18. Transbaviaans?
  19. Slave, I don't believe I've lowered my level by my last statement. I haven't said anything insulting to anyone, I haven't used bad language or told anyone to **** off, which is more than I can say for a lot of the hubbers on this thread. It isn't personal, it's about being tolerant and objective about another persons view. and for the record, I already know some of these people and we'll probably kiss and hug and pat each other on the back at the next MTB event. I just think they should control their emotions
  20. [/quote'] ......and nothing beats his sense of humour
  21. If I were him, I wouldn't want to know any of you
  22. I'm amazed by the level of maturity shown by some of the people on this thread. Why don't you all stop getting personal with Joe and have an objective look at his opinion? No wait, you can't... because you're all so clearly emotional about the subject that objectivity doesn't come into play. I personally don't want to see pictures off dead bodies, whether the death/killing was justified or not. Grow up and don't make it so personal. You don't know the man. Leave him be
