  1. Haha! I was being completely facetious about the tyre wear. I had no idea there was any truth in that. Now that I fully understand your question Joe, my main reason would be to stay as far away from cars as possible. You've ridden with me on the road before and know how nervous I can get about dem trucks & cars, if (whilst I was riding out souf wiff you boys) I was able to do the same on my road bike, I would. So I guess we all have different motivations oh.... I also love the feeling of gravel under my MTB
  2. Good news cyclone! It just gets better from here
  3. It's a little known fact Joe, that tar actually does untold damage to our tyres. So the answer to your question is that it's in the interest of our trusty steeds that we avoid the tar. The other problem with tar is that it's littered with Roadies, so we'll take our chances with used condoms and body parts
  4. MTB'ing's as easy or difficult as you make it. It you hardly broke a sweat you weren't pedalling hard/fast enough. Half the fun of mtb'ing is overcoming technical challenges. I hated my first MTB ride, but was sold after a few rides... Give it some time
  5. Can't wait!
  6. Also getting it, but only when I go to the 'Photos' section
  7. Good luck guys, have a jol!!
  8. Thanks DaLoCo I couldn't be bothered reading all 12 pages so I'll take your word for it
  9. geez, 12 pages on what bra to wear how about walking into Sportsmans Warehouse and trying on a few brands and taking what's most comfortable? Cycling's hardly a high impact sport so unless you're Pamela Anderson you're unlikely to need that much support
  10. I believe you've said that on another thread, so technically I've been reg twee keer
  11. I was riding in a MTB race. We were on some singletrack going downhill so were moving at quite a speed. There was a deep rut running parallel to the singletrack and near the end the track became quite sandy. I hit the sand at speed and as I was losing control of my bike and getting closer to falling into the rut I shouted "****Me!!"... (understand I was in a state of complete panic ) Without hesitation the guy riding behind me shouts "Yes please!"
  12. Joe seems to have quite a reputation Another 'Joe special': Saturday morning we're riding up the steps on the Lido route. The faster guys had gone ahead and had stopped on the side of the road to wait for us. As we approach them and are within earshot Joe chirps "you see, I told you they'd blow"
  13. Geez, you guys are NASTY!
  14. Just wait, I'll be working my magic on you guys one by one... GreyOwl wasn't an easy victim.. it's taken at least a year of persuasion
  15. You bet ya slave!! It's good clean dirty fun

  19. Geez, bad luck dude. Makes me so friggin angry when I hear stories like this, especially the impudent attitude the muggers have
  20. LOL' date=' you look rather chuffed!![/quote'] It's a scared grimace
  21. Haha... how about that?! sorry you couldn't make the after party veloce!
  22. It was really good fun BumpNgrind.. I highly recommend this ride. Hopefully I'll be there again next year
  23. Cool pic Tarmacpro... I must say that when I saw that the bridge I had approached wasn't in a neat little straight line I nearly had a little angina... I think I voiced my fear cos I had loads of spectators shouting at me to "just do it"... thankfully I didn't swim
