  1. I've had the same experience. Took it cos I 'forgot' my Cytomax going to the Diamond Rush and used my riding mates 32GI. For the entire race I was completetly flat. Never felt so 'bonked' in my life for a race. Absolutely nothing gave me any energy - even taking my normal gels felt like I was riding in thick mud the entire race.
  2. I have the FSA MegaExo BB with my Afterburners and lasted about 1 1/2 years of punishment. Not sure if that's the standard but got a replacement from CRC as locally I found one for R700.00 as there was not other option. Never tried it with other BB's to be honest - wasn;t sure about the compatability
  3. I seem to have bypassed all the waiting. Just sent a email to the entelect support website, telling them I had troubles logging and entering my info and the guy emailed back yesterday to tell me we were accepted and gave us our team number.
  4. My entry also bombed on filling in the rider details etc clicking on 'proceed' button, redirecting me to the error page to send an email and my details to entelect - but when I retried it says the ID is already registered for the event....lets hope but no confirmation email as yet that i'm in. not sure now?
  5. You win ... hands down. No need to submit anything else for the entire week!
  6. What happened to their Website - their account has been suspended or am I going mad? Want to check the specs out online http://www.silverbacklab.com or is there a new website?
  7. I challenge any HUBBER - for this week - to find the worst bike for sale they can find. My submission for you is the "Hotrock Cheetah" http://www.junkmail.co.za/images/201026/images_paper/free201026__20100625_134753_2346390_.JPG Components Include : 18 gears! One Permanent Tube Almost New Tyres Perfect to throw yourself off a cliff with!
  8. I'm with my mate Lost Frog here. We decided to go to Ride Before you Buy @ Rietvlei to test some Full Susses, as we in the market to buy. We could only test the bikes that were there! - so now I'm only interested in the bikes I have tried. Only local bike was MOREWOOD. I have NEVER seen Mercury 1 nor Mercury 2 in any of the bike shops to test. I visit a lot of bike shops. Obviously, if you don't get these high spec bikes out there we will never buy them - even if they are good.
  9. Don;t you have a route map or more details cos I can't figure out where exactly your route goes (from Van Gaalens). Google maps?
  10. Does anyone know if it's possible to ride at the Rietvlei Nature reserve along the R21 (I think) / Irene offramp. There are quite a few Rietvlei's. I did a search on the hub and was wondering which one is everyone talking about which is good for training. Been to Groenkloof and the Alberton Rietvlei. Secondly - is it quite safe? Thanks in advance
  11. What we need is a BaitBike. My uncle who lives in the States and still follows news in SA heard about all this on News24. He told me about these BaitBikes that are manufactured specifically with tracking systems inside them. Then all we need is a willing brave soul who will *try* to get this bike stolen without getting killed or worse and can be tracked by Police or security company so that we can find the 'route' these bikes take to get out of the country or sold. Anyway it's better than waiting for something to happen - we want our trails back! http://www.baitbike.com/Home_Page.html mogwaai2010-05-11 01:53:28
  12. Some pics of the Barberton race If you on Facebook my honest review of the race http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=2377499915&topic=13411
  13. I have purchased a few things. I've never had a problem with the shipment as such going missing only the items were incorrect or had a problem. I just sent them back with postage paid back into my paypal. Just takes time - so if you in a hurry to get the items don't bother.
  14. Hi Funny you should say that cos my plug literally blew out on Day 3 Sani2C - of all days - so didn't enjoy the downhills like everyone else with no brakes. I guess just too much harsh braking for the poor Hayes So1e! Thanks for the heads up on Fritz, just round the corner from me so will pop by and see if they can help. mogwaai2009-08-11 03:31:55
  15. I have a pair of Hayes So1e disc brakes and the front Master Cylinder Bleed Plug popped out and obviously all the brake fluid ran out. So now I have to get a replacement plug and to refill with Hayes brake fluid. I have been told that this can only be done by Hayes in PE. It's really not worth paying to get it there and to repair. Anyone that knows how to repair these brakes in Joburg area that has this plug and can refill the brakes so I can sell them on the HUB? Anyone know what they worth?
  16. Me to' date=' what goodie bag.[/quote']Seems I let the cat out of the Goodie-Bag! Did no-one get a Medscheme water bottle, Energy bar, Energy gel, Energy drink and pamphlets + 2 cable ties with their numbers? If someone can give me my 16 minutes back then I'll happily give them my water bottle!
  17. Yeah - something is amiss... but the good news is I came in 15th position in the 60KM WOMENS VET's standings. My best result ever!
  18. Results at http://www.cyclingnews.co.za/Pages/Default.asp?SectionID=90
  19. I'm not usually one to complain about timing ... a few minutes here and there is not a big deal and I'm not in the race to win it - just to enjoy the day and feel some self-satisfaction about finishing races, but I am very disappointed about the manual timing system they had at the Walkerville. I had to physically disturb the timing lady who was merrily chatting away about her problems in life and whatever else to her colleagues under the gazebo at the finish and she nearly got a fright when I came in and bothered her to take my time down. 16 minutes difference in my accurate computer time to my official time is something to complain about... and to top it all I was classified under the 60km VETERAN WOMAN! I would swap my goodie bag water bottle for an accurate timing system any-day. C'mon Medscheme ? organizers et al. mogwaai2009-07-14 01:50:50
  20. I know for a fact that Ride Mag had their photographers there 'cos I nearly hit her in the head with my rear tyre doing a 180 on the last downhill.
  21. I put some photos of the rocky parts of the trail on the top of the 7km climb. It's with my phone camera so sorry for the quality but at least you get an idea of the terrain. http://www.flickr.com/photos/mogwaai/sets/72157619001543983/
  22. OK Went again for a ride and the 18" just 'felt better' Case closed - and now I can sleep better that I know my money is going to be spent on the right frame size.
  23. Thanks - but that's part of the problem as I've been to 2 different reputable cycle shops and the one says the 16" and the other the 18" - which has confused me even more - thus the posting on The HUB So do I get a third opinion?
  24. My leg inseam measurement is 81cm. So according to my calculations of measurement X .65 minus 10 will give me my ideal MTB frame size in cm. Then divide by 2.54 to get inches. So my ideal frame is a 17''. So now if the bike I want only comes in 18 inch and 16 inch, which one do I go for? mogwaai2009-01-19 11:47:45
