  1. Hi guys, please pass the word on to support frail (David Kleynhans) at Knysna this weekend, he cycled from Cape Town to Knysna last week, is doing the race tomorrow then cycling back to Cape Town at roughly 14h00 tomorrow, he is meeting with the mayor of Knysna at 7.30 tomorrow morning and then the deputy mayor of Cape Town at 15h00 on Monday. He would appreciate a few calls of encouragement, his number is 0714067007, phone is set on handsfree so please feel free to ring at anytime, ALL OF THIS IS DONE IN AID OF CHARITY SO GIVE THE GUY A CALL.
  2. Just spoke to frail, he has arrived safely in Knysna, took just over 24hrs from Cape Town, amazing if you consider his accident almost two weeks ago ( https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=54629&KW=accident ) This guy is a true cyclist with a real passion, his return trip is on monday and I would like to wish him all the best and a safe journey
  3. Just changing that seat will be a huge improvement, the rest is perfect. Bionic man2009-07-02 06:56:06
  4. Hi frail, didn't you just recently finish building this frame? Good luck with another claim.
  5. Definitely going to change my cleat settings and give myself more float after reading this. I suffer terribly from ITB pain(only the last three months since changing shoes, pedals, bikes etc.) Gonna put the old pedals , shoes, cleats back on and see what happens. First time in a long time that I cried from PAIN, not nice.
  6. Don't know if I saw any of you guys, (got there late as in my excitement I only packed water bottle and bike - left the rest at home) everyone was going hell for leather on the singletrack/jeeptrack. All I know is I spent over two hours on the mountain and my brakes were screaming like a banshee wailer but what a blast.
  7. Talk about putting a spanner in the works, been looking at the pimped examples. I like the idea of been different but not over the top. All my bikes are one off/handbuilt/gemodified. Wait for my 1960s BSA to be finished. I like the idea of spokes, spokes and more spokes. Anyway, I am going to sleep on it for the next week. (working in Upington for the week anyway so cannot do anything till next weekend). Choices, choices
  8. Have stripped her completely, start cleaning next weekend and then the spending starts.
  9. Some guy in UK sold that bike for ?1600! http://www.choppertrader.com/111%20CHOPPER%20MK2%20NEW%20PAGE.htm Definitely not a HUBBER who bought it
  10. Thanks for the pic mercx, really got me drooling now, can't wait to get home.
  11. Hey Samma, no need to mock me, I know I am a bit overweight but really.........
  12. Almost did the Argus on it this year. Not for sale.(Will let you touch it though) I have pics of me and my Raleigh Mk1, now that's giving my age away.
  13. Going to strip her completely tonight, seriously thinking the white/chrome/red route.
  14. Hi Guys and Gals, not too sure about what to do restoration wise. Am thinking of modernising components (except for the Sturmey Archer gearing), higher seatback, different rims, maybe disc brake on the front(change the fork) or just keep it stock standard and restore as per OE. Suggestions please, not that I will take them seriously. I like the idea of a subtle modern touch. Mmmmmm, A nice off white and plenty of chrome, white rims with red nipples, red nuts and bolts, white seat with black pin striping etc etc
  15. It's the home stretch that gets you, save some mojo for the end bits
  16. All I am doing on Boyes drive is staying left and being EXTRA careful, some very unforgiving bumps on the right hand side, never mind sub this and sub that, I just want to finish with a smile on the dial(OK, maybe go for a 3.30)
  17. Had a Large Raleigh at first, found the handling wierd, got myself a Medium Scott Scale and enjoy every moment on it.(GEMODIFIED) Still psyching myself up for my first MTB funride.
  18. Nix, tell your friend to rather not try and help the ignorant, 99% of the time you are branded the EVIL one, also she should preferably ride in a group, (see what the little boys do then.) Bionic man2009-02-25 07:38:03
  19. Make like BOS1000, ride alone. I do ride alone, can't keep up with the groups anyway.
  20. I decided too count the number of cyclists jumping a single red light, Saturday morning, 8am, Main road towards Muizenburg. Only averaged out at 70% not stopping. Oh, don't try too correct them and if you do you better sprint fast. I found those riding singly tended to stop so not sure if it is a macho thing with two or more cyclists not stopping, I actually get moaned at for stopping at red robots and stop streets. (Gives me a chance too get my breathe back). The question too be answered is "How do we enlighten/inform these ignorant people?" Without getting our heads bashed in.
  21. And the latest incident 2 hours ago 'Taxi burns out in Parow'. Apparently a mother and child were killed and 4 others seriously burnt and to top it off, sounds like the taxi was petrol bombed, forensics still going over the vehicle.
  22. Rather funny how a COMPLIMENT for good service turns into a SLUG FEST
