  1. CBlake. Couldn't respond directly to your post....running LTHR and cycling LTHR different across sports. Different sports, difference muscles...
  2. Looks awesome!
  3. Just make sure this isn't because the HR monitor needs to be reset. Apparently when it gets too full of data it starts to give funny readings. Take battery out, put battery in the wrong way around, leave for 5min, reassemble normally. Seems to work for me whenever I start getting odd HR readings.
  4. I've damaged the fat pad but I don't think thats the same thing?
  5. I did comrades on purely liquid calories (my own mix) (well except for 1 FarBar I think) so I don't think you necessarily need solid fuel especially when you think about how little blood is around your gut to aid digestion. I do think solid fuel is a great mental break through...its almost like a reward for me during a run or ride.
  6. Hmmm, and here I was thinking of using a set for 70.3 next weekend. You have me worried
  7. The expensive solution https://www.builders.co.za/Save-Water-Solutions/Waterwise-Bathroom/Pools/Jojo-Backwash-Water-Saver-Tank---White-500L/p/000000000000615503 Wheelie bin option a little cheaper with bin at around R800-R900 plus then a some more for the fittings
  8. Hi, Yeah I'm thinking of that. Thinking of installing a tank to collect the backwash, letting it settle and then letting "clean" water back in rather than into the garden.
  9. I'm on the essential core plan (which is basically a hospital plan as I understand it). Not sure how this works at wellness days but if you go into a Dischem or Clicks to have the health assessment done Discovery covers the cost of the assessment so I can't see them charging you at a wellness day. HIV test is included.
  10. I have a question for you guys regarding your swimming pool backwash water. Mine currently goes into one of our flower beds and kills all the plants. I call it a flower bed but really its a sand patch. The pump is prohibitively far away from any drainage pipes so I can't easy redirect it into one. Any idea's or solutions? Or plants that would be able to survive in that area? Thanks
  11. Thanks, perfect. So best strategy is to wait until Jan probably so that we have a full year to get the "other half" of our points
  12. Thanks. Ok I found the "rules section" eventually. Basically gold if 45,000 for one member, 90,000 points per year for Main member + 1 over 18 So from what I can see assuming we add a member then our total requirement for gold goes from 45,000 (just me) to 90,000 (me + one other). They then take my points and add them to whatever the new dependent earns during the year to see if we reach silver/gold/etc. The only thing I'm not sure on is how my current diamond status is affected. I'm guessing I'll lose it.
  13. Tried looking on the Disco website but was unable to find the answer to my question. Have any of you brought dependents who weren't previously with Discovery onto your Discovery plan? My question is around Vitality: 1.) Do you earn Vitality status as a family or individually? 2.) If its together then how is my current Diamond status effected when I add a dependent? Sorry if this info is easily found, I couldn't see the answers on the website
  14. Ya nuts. Hard for another team to pick him up after that so he's blown it properly
  15. Troy Lee designs Motocross helmet. I second the riding in the rain problems ..can feel like needles on your nose!
  16. Once you've tried the oven method its time to braai it. (warning I braai this literally once a week so I'm overly keen on it) 1. Separate into two piece along the belly (you'll see a natural place to divide it) 2. Remove skin (easiest done while fish is still slightly defrosted...should pull off easily with practice, almost all in one go) 3. Allow to defrost completely 4. Season one side with cajun spice and Aromat 5. Prepare some lemon butter 6. Put onto braai (in one of those fish braai grids) seasoned side down 7. Season other side with same spices 8. Turn once you can see the flesh starting to bubble along the sides 9. Baste in lemon butter while it completes to cook 10. Remove once done 11. Om nom nom nom
  17. my dad has one. Heaviest clutch I have ever felt but a thrill to ride. (Not the easiest, but a thrill). Also....try kick starting it....liable to take your leg off!
  18. I don't use downhill helmets but spotted this https://www.onedayonly.co.za/dbx-5-0-downhill-helmet.html LeattDBX 5.0 Downhill Helmets R3,899
  19. Haven't been able to concentrate for a week. I must have googled every down run tip I could find and worked out every single pacing permutation.
  20. Ok scratch that. I actually read the letter now...it lists everything you need to bring to collect on behalf of someone. I tried copying here but couldnt. Just read the email they sent you today
  21. And also probably their confirmation letter (one sent out today)
  22. Me. Usual discount on kulula including Flight Booster (just paid into my account last week). Earlier this year booked ticket to Sydney on Quantas...was silly cheap after my discount on Diamond status. Think less than R8k if memory serves. Can't think of any warnings off the top of my head.
  23. Most amount of fun its possible to have....ahhh I miss Enduro
  24. Thanks will do some google mapping to see how far along the route those points are. Might be better for them than to rather hack a traffic jam which is always very stressful for the spectators
  25. Some advice needed for our seconders on Comrades this year....assuming they will want to see us 3 times along the route (and then at the finish obviously). From a nutrition point of view I'd imagine I only need to seem them at around 30kms and then again at 60kms so third "visit" will be purely a cheerleading one. We're staying in PMB on Sat night...where are the best places along the route for them to meet us? All recommendations and past experience welcome.
