  1. Given that I am quite a big Robbie fan I will make a completely non emotional decision and leave the asterisk off the Giro win ????
  2. There are about half as many male DH riders currently ranked on the UCI as female road riders. That said - Greg isn't one of the best. He is the best. Ever. Greg has now won 22 World Cup downhill races, more than any other Elite Men’s downhill racer in history. He also has three overall World Cup titles. When you combine that with his World Championship record of three gold medals, four silver medals, and three bronze medals, you can see why many people are calling Minnaar the “GOAT” these days. (See the March 2021 issue of Mountain Bike Action to see the one downhill racer, Nicolas Vouilloz, who can challenge that claim.) It may be a smaller pond but the sheer quality of those results trump any and all cyclists in SA....in my opinion.
  3. The yardstick is flexible of course - best rider can be best UCI ranking, best single achievment, best GC rider, best classics etc. The unmeasurable difference between the level of female versus male cycling makes it even more flexible. Me - I reckon Robbie 3 GT victories (especially the TdF victory) puts him ahead of Ashleigh. Gotta love opinions ????
  4. If it was solely about the delayed shipping then yeah that was a bit heavy handed!
  5. Mr. Minn is by far the mosr succesful SA rider. Ever. On tar - I see your Ashleigh and raise you a Robbie Hunter: 2x stage Vuelta a España ('01, '99) stage Tour de France ('07) 2x stage Tour de Suisse ('04) GC Tour of Qatar ('04) GC Volta ao Santarém ('07) GC Tour de Picardie ('07) Tour de Mumbai II ('11) 2x stage Ronde van Nederland ('00) Doha International GP ('05) 2nd stage Tour de France ('07) 2nd GC Ronde van Nederland ('00) 3x stage Le Tour de Langkawi ('02)
  6. If your goal is to warn people that the violence will affect shipping then start a thread saying that. It won't get deleted.
  7. It was kinda sad watching Ineos call their riders back from the break then set a 4 man crazy tempo up the final climb then fizzle out after one Carapaz attack. Poggy is head and shoulders clear of his rivals at the moment....
  8. Me. I'm done wondering. The only people that will ever know the true extent of doping in the peleton is.....nobody. Of course I still care about it but the is he isn't he game is fruitless. Let the UCI and WADA do their sometime good sometimes bad sometimes random thing - I'm just gonna watch and enjoy and if someone gets bust I'll add them to my sh1tlist. That said - I'm loving the "new generation" of young cyclists coming through. Great on bikes, great in interviews, actual humans that let their emotions out, nice attacking racing. This Tour has to be the best in a decade at least! Even Cav 2.0 has been great to watch!
  9. Loved the rock star glasses toss ????????????????
  10. Not Valverde not Valverde not Valverde. Good Sepp!
  11. Chat to Graeme at Carbon Ninja. If anyone can he can!
  12. Of course it does ????
  13. Judging by the amount of gurning going on at the moment I think you're right!
  14. How can there be this many fresh legs after the Tour we've seen so far? Tough bunch these pro cyclists!
  15. Pffff England shouldn't even be in the final. Denmark scored more goals! Plus that penalty.... Yeah that much contact wouldn't have knocked over a a feather, balanced on it's tip, in a gale force wind* *I really don't care about football. Just suffering from the collective societal disappointment being experienced over here.
  16. But MVDP wears them and he is cooler than liquid helium so we have a circular reference error!
  17. This topic has gone proper pear shaped ???? I do have one question though - you guys know these rules are a joke right: https://www.velominati.com/
  18. Mostly Gravel Grinding seems to be a term for regte manne to pretend that they're cooler than you.
  19. Danish dude Danish ???? Agreed - a nice slack head angle will keep more people on their bikes instead of face first in the dirt. That isn't the SA way though! Over here we have far less mountains (ok absolutely no mountains) and more people are on trail oriented bikes. SA is all about beating your mates and racing for time. 100mm is great for that - especially north of le Cape. It does put the Anthem is a weird place though - if they are appealing to XCO racers then they failed horribly. It is a tiny market. If they expect people to use them for training, racing XCM and general use then it should definitely have 2 bottle mounts. I miss the Cape and smashing about it on my old steel Niner hardtail ???? Thanks to the 'rona I haven't been to SA or sen my family there for 18 months! If you guys could sort out that 3rd wave I'd be super happy!
  20. In certain parts of the Cape maybe but the vast majority of riders aren't interested in drop offs, jumps and such. They want to get out do some exercise, hang with their mates and enjoy their morning. 100mm on both ends is perfect for this. And 2 water bottles ????
  21. The 1 water bottle issue is a real problem. About 0.00000000001% of Anthems get raced on XCO tracks - the rest get used as fun training bikes for several hours. That needs 2 water bottles or a Camelback. Personally I would never buy a training, racing, XCM bike with only 1 bottle water mount.
  22. I had the same thought today. It's been full gas for 9 stages. Gonna be some late sleepers tomorrow!
  23. How did Woodruff get selected in the first place? Must be some convoluted american olympic selection formula that gets a women ranked outside the top 200 into the olympics ahead of 7 higher ranked athletes!
  24. Indeed. I thought she got 16th not 19th.
  25. 3 cat 1 climbs in 30km is a tough ask for a classics rider - especially after a 200km break. His saving grace might be that it is the first mountain stage and it finishes with a 14km descent. The GCers might end up checking each other out rather than trying to gain time. Carapaz looks ready though! Head says Pogacar in yellow tomorrow. Heart wants WvA but I reckon he dug a little deep today. Fun fact - I've ridden the final climb but from the other side.
