Still early days and no mountains yet. Once they hit actual mountains the likes of WVA, MVDP etc will lose time in 10 minute chunks. I'm not sure I want sanity restored just yet though - I'm loving this edition. The Tour of Tears 2021!

Sprinting is always going to be messy - expecting riders to ride in straight lines when they launch after they've been swapping off wheels, trying to hold on to their lead out man and sheltering behind whoever they can is a little optimistic. Cycling rules have always and will always be a little grey - like ignoring riders working their way back to the peleton behind team cars, the long bottle etc.

I'm with you 100% on that. Riders are quick to ridicule puppy paw rules but slow to be responsible for their own riding style. For instance if Groenewagen had not flicked the hell out of Jakobsen the issue of safety barriers wouldn't even have come up.

Both riders are 1.5m from the line and they meet in the middle on the line - both deviated. Edit: Rider 105 is Philipsen not Merlier.

The drifted together - the Cav a bit more but neither stayed straight to the line. No reason for a protest there....

Does anybody actually buy anything for weight or aero and expect to get a result they can actually feel/measure in the real world? I thought ALL bike purchases were emotional decisions to improve "pride of ownership" ????

Daaaaamn. What a tour. More drama in 4 days than some tours in total. Cav and MVDP's wins were spectacular and emotional, the crashes were insane&terrible, loads of drama in the "how injured are they" department, Geraint Thomas having his shoulder popped back in on the roadside, the Roglic nude pic with 80% of his body covered in bandages. Today is going to be boring AF compared to the first 4 stages!

Check that the preload adjuster hasn't been over tightened! I've seen it more than a few times on factory built bikes.

The problem is most definitely in the team management/operational/training direction. There is a loooong list of names that performed well before and after they left NTT DD MTN Qhubeka Assos Nextphase.
