  1. Ink whatever the hell you like on your body - your body your choice. I will respect you way more for earning a world champs tat than for paying to have a corporate logo inked on you though. If a race means that much to you then at least spend some time/money on design and have something unique/stylised done. I suspect, however, that people who have logos inked on them will not be pleased if the viewer cannot recognise the logo/race and offer up the street cred they think comes with it.
  2. Ahhhhh SSWC and Burry - two subjects that bring on nostalgia, fondness and pain....
  3. 100% Anyone who has the SSWC winner's tat on them (other than the actual winners) should be forced to have it removed with low grit sandpaper and salt.
  4. Not sure it fits the profile - it's a winners tattoo not just some rando "ink this on my body" tat....
  5. But those weren't optional ????
  6. Those are pretty random and scienceless tests - especially for the dry lubes....
  7. Some light reading on the matter: https://cyclingtips.com/2018/05/chain-cleaning-and-maintenance-how-to/ I am an ultra sonic clean and lube kinda guy myself but each to their own.
  8. 100% Lube is for between the moving parts of the chain not for interaction between chain/cassette/chainrings - too much of any lube will attract unwanted dirt resulting in the grinding paste I spoke about. I'm a degreaser fan myself - spray some on a cloth and hold the chain while you pedal backwards. On a side note - Squirt has the best penetration of wax based lubes in my opinion.
  9. Yup. Shipping grease/oil is super tacky and will just gather dust/dirt to make a lovely grinding paste that will destroy your drive train in no time.
  10. Sure why not? Us Europeans have to help you poor poor Africans out wherever possible.... Oddly enough tons of Danes have done the Epic - I even received a signed leaders jersey from a customer for the shop's birthdayversary! Small world huh?
  11. The question is why do you have to justify it? If you have the cash and want the experience buy a ticket. If you want a better experience at half the price ride the Joberg2C ???? Supply and demand dictate the price. If you think it is worth it buy it - if not don't. This doesn't have to become some weird them versus us thing.
  12. 100%. Giving Colbrelli a full lap lead out was probably not a great idea in hindsight.
  13. Maincheese may not be the most exciting rider to watch but I am really enjoying his return to top form! Goooo Maincheese!
  14. TIZ Cycling....
  15. GOATGOATGOATGOATGOATGOAT!!!
  16. See you in 3-5 weeks!
  17. That is a really nice set up! I have the same reaction from customers when I fit them - most think a fitting is a quick saddle height adjustment and job done. Once you pull out the 3D infra red motion detection system and start talking lateral knee travel, vertical hip travel and ankling range they start to understand why it is money well spent. R900 for a bike fit is absolutely the best upgrade you can make! Nothing else in that price range will give you the extra performance that a good bike fit will.
  18. My shop is in Copenhagen - pop by if you're keen to come and have a look. I had a beer specially brewed for my shop's anniversary recently so I can even offer you an Ale with some organic rooibos in it!
  19. I disagree. Been doing it for quite a while now and love it. I'm more of a "turn your passion into your profession and you never work another day in your life" kinda guy.
  20. Not so long ago people were banging on about how bike shops were rip offs and making bathtubs full of cash. This thread has balanced that fallacy quite nicely. 8k first order? You can't even put a basic workshop together for that or support 1 brand poorly. 50k sounds like bare minimum. I have a tiny 1 man shop and I reckon there is close to 2 bar of equipment, tools, spare, stock and clothing in here and even then I still need to place urgent orders and pay extra for shipping because I don't have the part in stock. It's cool being passionate about biking but before you make the leap consider that from the start you need to have at least moderate skills in marketing/SEO, basic accounting, bicycle mechanics, fitting, industry knowledge, rental agreements, POS software, sales, market Intel etc. Or just throw yourself into it! I did it in a foreign country and it worked out (with some sleepless nights, good luck, manic work, amazing customers, awesome dealer support and a myriad of other thing I hadn't even considered when I started that could have potentially scuttled all my plans).
  21. R200-R800 for a bike fit? Do people really value bike fitting so poorly that this is the range they're willing to spend? Damn!
  22. Good old social media. It is permanent so any words used in your life time get merrily tossed in your face when the shoe is on your foot ????
  23. Congratulations! You've won the passive-aggressive *** stirring spoon for the day.
  24. The othering is always fun to watch. It's the motorists, the rich people, the entitled, the hot cars, the other people. Breaking news - we are the people.
  25. It's better to be wrong and alive than right and dead... Also - just give a **** about each other. We wouldn't need rules and opinions and rights and arguments if we thought beyond our own circle. That, of course, is pretty hard to do in a country with the stress level of South Africa!
