  1. Surely it's a bigger problem that parts meant for development riders got stolen/misallocated/fell off a truck than you missing out on a too good to be true deal? Surely your ethics dictate that not being part of a dodgy sale cycle is more important than someone scalping your bargain?
  2. It's a bicycle rental service - growing really fast over here. Their "trademark" is a blue front tyre. You rent the bike and if anything goes wrong they come and fix it (or swap it out). https://swapfiets.dk/
  3. Oddly enough I don't mind all the standards (too much). The part that makes me want to strangle manufacturers is using a carbon frame as a wear surface. What idiot thought that press fitting plastic into reinforced plastic was a good idea? Other than sales people, accountants and manufacturing staff of course. It's cheaper and easier to manufacture and saves weight. Everyone wins except the consumer....
  4. Dear cycling industry T47. That is all. Burn everything else. Best regards. Eldrøn
  5. @NickNo worries at all - time have changed for the better so the title should too. Bring on the TdF and some Qhubeka Nexthash victories!
  6. The covid thread is gone. I'm rather relieved. Those are 4,000,000 hours I'll never get back ????????

    Bike setup

Generally speaking the most powerful position IS the most comfortable position. Mainly because you don't get to the limits in range of movement/flexibility etc. Aero AND powerful are where the main problems start... Bike fitting is mostly a tale of two halves - seat to bottom bracket and bars to bottom bracket. For most positions (comfy to aggressive) the seat to BB position stays the same. It's the bars to BB position that determines how "aggressive" the position is (and how compromised movement becomes to improve aerodynamics). Power generation is also a factor of course - the higher your FTP the longer you can hold an aggressive position without pain. All of this is "generally speaking" of course - each bike fit is unique to the rider.

Bottom line in all of this is "get a bike fit". Much as everyone has given specific advice - the source of your pain could be any of 3 or 4 areas. A good bike fitter will have a look at your total position and make sure everything works as an integrated unit. Once you start looking at individual components it becomes a tail chasing exercise...for example I've noticed a trend among my customers to solve hand pain by moving their saddle forward - it kinda makes sense - shortening the reach improves back angle. Problem is that it also shifts your weight forward which increases the weight on your hands....leading to more hand pain ???? Also - the bike fit to bike component price ratio in SA is really good. In most of Europe the ratio is way higher. In my opinion a bike fit is the best value for money bike upgrade available.

+1 for what Bertus said. Your shoulder problems are more likely caused by drop and length than bar width. As bertus said the bars should be roughly matched to your skeletal shoulder width. MTB is a more upright & shorter fit than road. Before spending money work on your flexibility. If that doesn't help get a bike fit.
  10. I really like the wired derailleurs and wireless STI combination. Built an FSA K-Force WE group recently and it is a power management strategy that makes sense.
  11. There really isn't - Shimano Europe have no chains, cassettes, chanrings, brake pads etc. Giant Europe has no Defys, TCRs, Propels etc. Bigger stores that placed pre orders have some stock but us smallies that rely on centralised stock are buying from onliners to help our customers. There is a massive stock shortage globally. Across all brands.
  12. Supply and Demand. Right now we're in a Supply crisis and Demand is high so ALL prices are going up - new and used. If value for money is your primary driver then don't buy a bike now - do some maintenance and/or upgrade and buy a bike next year when the supply shortage has eased a bit.
  13. Rolling back the clocks to a wonderous time when riders could achieve superhuman performances! Damn I dislike Valverde and everything him and his generation of riders represent.
  14. I thought this was the perfect thread to celebrate Valverde's win today. 42 and kicking Pro Tour arse!
  15. As a champion with a champion's mindset you don't admit weakness or entertain the possibility of losing until it is impossible. I reckon Chris has had that epiphone recently. Makes sense. It doesn't make for great reading by the general public of course - we see his mouth writing cheques his legs can't cash and we lose a bit of confidence in the man. Personally I'd like to see his succeed again before he retires. Goooo Froomedawg ????
  16. Something a bit more realistic from Chris: https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/chris-froome-im-not-going-to-win-the-tour-de-france-this-year/#disqus_thread
  17. You can't possibly own a Spesh - you have a Cotic logo as your avatar. Cotic owners are cool. Does not compute!
  18. Damnit. Insinuating that people are pedos is my go to defence for people that think spreading malicious rumours about certain groups is OK (like the "proof" that covid was overstated in the US because doctors and nurses were faking death certificates to get more money for their hospitals). Now I'll have to call them Specialized riders. I'm pretty sure that is worse.
  19. The fanboy in me hopes this has been one big Froomedawg hustle and he'll smash Number 5 in July. The pragmatist in me thinks that we've seen waaaay to many "Progress has been good and I'm still on track to crack Number 5" followed by another average performance (average by his own high standards of course). Hope versus pragmatism. I hoping hope wins ???? Goooo Froome!
  20. Could you give Chris a call and help with his coaching? Given his performance at Dauphine today I'm guessing Number 5 is not on the cards in July!* *unless something peculiar happened - I didn't watch the stage....
  21. w/kg is only a lab number. VAM is the best real world number in my opinion.
  22. Weight means nothing without throwing in the power. And VO2. And VAM ????
  23. Smart riding by Ineos - keep Bernal protected from the wind as long as possible and ride a constant pace to the top avoiding the accelerations. It worked well with Bernal only losing a handful of seconds. I feel bad for Almeida - strongest finisher but timed it wrong. Again! Bring on Stage 20. Come on Almeida! You can do it!!!!!
  24. Customer had a flat the day before I worked on it. Fear not - I schooled him proper on all the right bike etiquette!
  25. Satin silver on carbon with just a clear matt coat so you can see the weave. The logos match the lugs perfectly. Super classy.
