I agree that there are shops/importers who are ripping us off blind, but the fact is that South Africa is far away from the real economic powerhouses and on top of all that, it's a small market here. If we all supported local industry then perhaps things would change..... very slowly! Wait until you get something from a far away land and it doesn't quite function the way it should. It took me over a year to get a R10 000 camera sorted because no one here was interested in my problem. I will never buy from am overseas based company again.

Read the policy very carefully I almost insured mine until I read it and realised I was taking more risk than the insurance company. Most will say a bike on a bike rack with no one in the car is unattended therefore can't claim! Racing is normally excluded as well. If claimed under 'all risks' it must be specified otherwise claim is limited to about the same value as a hosepipe. The other thing is value .... what is your bike insured for compared to what they will pay out and have you seen the replacement costs? Slowbee has the right idea .... self insurance is cheaper oin the long run.

A post like this is meaningless unless there is some explanation. I was out of my bracket one and lost my wallet, but I didn't bleat about it. One must ask the question why he posted it? Obviously it intrigued/disgusted/amused or repulsed him enough to warrant it being posted. I'm glad he posted it coz you can't hide the truth. South Africa does indeed have vast tracts of spoilt wilderness.

I agree that 1Time is liable, but I was just pointing out that it could happen on any airline. The onus is really on the passenger to ensure it is packed in such a manner that it can handle some not so careful handling. Best thing is to make sure it is insured....

1Time is not responsible for baggage handling. Anyway pack it in box is your responsibility as is making sure it is covered by some insurance.

Just proves my point that chicks are pretty useless creatures. They are not fit enough to compete at the top level, yet demand equal tv time and media space not to mention prize money. They play poncey sports like netball and knit rather than skin live snakes or tigers. They leave everything to us men. Who climbed Everest first, who got to the South Pole or crossed the Atlantic? One chick tried flying around the world, but didn't finish the journey. We invented things like fire, microwaves, cars, tv etc to save them time, but it still takes them 1/2 a day to get ready to go out.
