  1. Its stupid!! .........Imagine cleaning it after the Emperor MTB race!!!!
  2. I think the marshalls were good ..... but they were let down by 'couldn't be bothered metro goons'. A car lost a wheel just after the tight left hand corner at the end of Rondebult rd but the cop couldn't be bothered to do anything so all cyclists suddenly found this Corolla abandoned at the side of the road just where the road narrows from 2 lanes to one.
  3. Although officialy Joburg, the Sizwe Hospital area is used by lots of East Randers (Edenvale) riders..... The area of Sizwe Hospital. That piece of open veld between Linksfield Rd and Modderfontein. Be very careful down in the bushes near the Sydenham side and in the secttion on the Modderfontein side of the river near that funny tunnel under the highway.idrive2009-02-09 08:01:22
  4. Excellent ........ brilliant idea splitting it into areas, well done!!
  5. ........ but where've you hidden it?
  6. Good, thanks ......... lets hope Hubbers have the sense to keep it factual and accurate rather than clutter it with bad humour and nonsensical anecdotes.
  7. I'd hunt around in shops until I found a 2006 model with decent spect for the same money as the Raleigh or Felt. Even contaxct importers, Omnico Just fun Cycling etc and find out what they've got. But you can also get good s/hand bargains.....
  8. What happened to Yolande?
  9. One thing about the new 'safety' forum ...... please don't post stupid things in it. It should be kept serious so we don'y have to wade through pages and pages of mindless rubbish all the the time. Thanks to the admin and others who helped get the cause going.
  10. Pit, I shissed all the action........
  11. I see the moderating people still havent got around to adding a Forum for dangerous places/rides/ intersections etc ....... Who do I need to get hold of?
  12. My entry for the 40km was R110.00 which works out to R2.75 per kilometre...... R2.39 per km more expensive than the Ottosdal race. Oh, and there were no plastic tie thingies to attach the numbas!
  13. I went to Emperors, did a late entry for MTB and wasn't asked for a licence and didn't even know there was a CSA person there otherwise I would have picked up my licence ...... For a cycling 'expo' it was pathetic - hope the race is better.
  14. I've suggested this many times. It should a forum on its own ..... just like 'Rant & Rave' But does anyone really care enough?
  15. It's quite easy to see where they are going. This is from a press release sent out today......... In view of the proposed changes, new staff are already being trained for compatible monitored consulting as nowadays you need 'outside the box' relative concepts as exploratory research points more and more towards functional organisational consulting and the solution can only be reached with responsive BEE asset capability,? explained Equity Director Ivor Ulukhuni. Consultants will have to recommend transitional options as sponsors, and to a lesser degree, participants continue to rapidly invest in deconstructed reciprocal asset management while traditional role players are expected to disinvest in the more formally constructed approach as the economic noose tightens. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> ?It really does make a lot of sense when one thinks about how, what we like to call, a fresh inter-dominational approach will impact on participative and recreational cycling in the sub-Saharan region of the African continent,? said Linus Gorkov, newly appointed media spokesperson who has a long association with cycling that began in the Deale & Huth era. idrive2009-02-04 13:09:26
  16. Believe it or not, but most medical aids have a clause about risks etc and they could reject a claim.
  17. I suppose your account was frozen and plans for your promotion have been put on ice..........!!
  18. Out in the Kemptune Pork side of the East we don't have anything technical ..... unless you call a patch of soft sand on a miele field road technical. But a round trip of over 100km to ride in a park is a bit much .... I've only ever been to the farm for a race & never went to Logwood.
  19. huh .....??
  20. I seem to recall a cycling track in Daveyton that I don't think has ever been used ........ anyone know anything?
  21. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to solve the dilema facing us! a) We are all licensed so why can't we get a permanent race number with our licence that we use for races? b) To enter a race, why can't organisers have someone checking licences against paid entries. No licence, no entry into starting pens. c) If organisers want their own numbers why can't they email them and we sort out printing thereof. I'm pretty sure it would save a lot of money which the organisers could then pass onto competitors. The less the entry fees, more entries and greater value for sponsors. I think I'm going to enter the 'Mr Common Sense 2009 competition'
  22. i turfed my 2008 licence away, but am still waiting for the new one .... how long does it take?
  23. I'm slow and my start time is late but I also want to do a second lap, so I'll just start with a front bunch and take it easy so I've got enough 'power' to do the second lap. I'm sure the real racers won't mind and they can go around me if I suddenly stop at a water table. I reckon I'll start at about 06:00 ..... anyone else keen, we could ride in a bunch! If someone has a beer or two on their second lap and is involved in a serious accident with a 'legal' rider then said lehal rider would be able to sue the pants of the Argus organisers ...... and don't say it won't happen!!idrive2009-01-13 11:14:15
  24. I think we've all looked at an obstacle and decided it can be ridden only to discover it can't. It's the same as dishing out a huge plate of food then finding out that 'your eyes are bigger than your belly'. Yes, we all often think we are better, bigger, stronger than we are and 99% of the time we are lucky and get away with it. Yes, the story did say he (wife) was going to sue someone for his mistake. Yes, it would've been nice if you'd set the record straight before it got so out of hand. Yes it is all stupid, but does someone have to be kicked when he's down?
  25. My little Park Tools Blue Book has saved me a lot of money. I do all the small stuff myself, but the bigger stuff that needs specialised tools I take to Clint Curtis at Finish Whine Cycles. I have a good relationship with them, coz I buy just about everything from there and his coffee machine is fixed! One more thing, when I get a bike back I do a simple nut and bolt check just to make sure everything is tight (and there!). Remember mechanics are humans too!!idrive2009-01-07 11:26:17
