  3. I like spectrum Sport .......... but they don't have a unique number history like WT or CC. but why can't we buy a number board? Did a race once at N/Farm with a stupid foam thing in the number that was supposed to havve a chip - got no time, no result, nuttin. So I asked the organisers for my money back saying I did a race, but got no result so therefore it wasn't a race so can I have my entry fee back ...... hear fog all.
  4. I wear a helmet because I want to ...... its also law on our roads.

  6. The problem as I see it is that CyclingSA is made up by what could essentially be desribed as amateurs. I don't know the nuts and bolts of CSA but often wonder how it is made up. How many staffers are there, how many of them are full time employees, do they get a market related salary etc? Maybe CSA needs to be more visible, have a PR agent or even, heaven forbid, take control of cycling in SA.idrive2008-02-01 09:22:37
  7. Whoa .............. what makes you think CyclingSA is trying its best to kill the sport, please tell us? Without CyclingSA generating some money it would have to close. If they put their name behind an event surely they are entitled to a cut of the sponsorship for giving the race some credibility. Sure CyclingSA might not please everyone all of the time, but rather give them some support instead of trying to cricify them at every opportunity. I say all events should be sanctioned by CSA in order for the organisers or promoters to be able to get any form of Public Liability insurance and NO event should be allowed to take place on the roads without the insurance being in place.

    ATTITUDES!

............ I actually tried to start a constructive topic, but it seems as though this forum is infested by a bunch of crude imbeciles whose ambition in life is to become a bonnet ornament. Having done a search all I can say is that poor ShaunH is working his butt off to make cycling safer and none of you could give a toss .....
  9. A few of the recent topics here have shocked me for a number of different reasons: a) Cyclists don't know the basic rules of the road, like not being allowed on a motorway! b) Cyclists don't know the basic rules of the road, like not riding abreast! c) Cyclists don't know the basic rules of the road, like not stopping at robots or stop streets! d) Cyclists also seem to think they're immortal! e) Cyclists are also aggressive towards other road users! f) Cyclists seem to think roads are for them only g) Cyclists always blame other road users instead of looking at themselves. I would like to see the Metro confiscate bikes from cyclists who break the rules ....... after all they're starting to do the same to other road users!! I would also like to get some response from Metro with regards to the rules concerning 'yellow lines' or 'emergency lanes' and riding on highways etc. Then I'd like to see Drive Alive etc doing something about creating an awareness of cycling, but if cyclists don't change their attitudes then there's no hope of any progress being made anywhere.
  10. Mountainbikes are horribly expensive to service. I just bought Magura brake pades and they cost over R200. My Nissan Sani brake pads were only R40 more ....... doesn't make sense to me. What make of brakes have affordable pads ....... might pay me to buy a whole new caliper?
  11. never fit pedals without a bit of copperslip or grease
  12. I've got mtb and bought a roadbike in November. Two very different beasts. Over christmas I rode the skinny one a lot as there wasn't much traffic. To enjoy the mtb you need to get out of the city!!!
  13. Not to kick you when you're down ........!!! Anyway, my point is that there are no signs saying 'no cyclist allowed' on roads and some so called highways don't look like highways while some 'normal' roads are better, have more lanes and are wider than some highways!!! I took my bike to Durban last year and riding out from the hotel on the beachfront I soon ended up on a road that I assumed was a highway and got off at the very first opportunity. Another problem is how would I know what's a good or bad/dangerous area or if the road I'm on is dangerous or not. Its a chance I take but I'm fed up with having to have eyes in the back of my head and lock everything up. .......... think I'll go back to Zim but will my metal Rhodesian drivers license still be valid???
  14. Hey I crashed my car - will Imperial Motors replace it?. Oh I see they no longer sell the Toyota TRD. I bought the car in good faith and its not my fault they don't sell it any more ....... Had the same problem with my Ford Langley and Nissan Explorer!!
  15. er ........... why didn'y you take your bike?
  16. I'm a SPEEDY fan!!
  17. Talking of insurance - in the event of a power outage, an ins claim could be turned down if its proven that your alarm wasn't on/have back-up or gates were not locked etc ......... can be big problems!!!
  18. My bike was stolen over a year ago and I attempted to report it stolen at Sebenza police station (bike was stolen from off its carrier in Midrand) but cops wanted serial numbers amd proof I owned it. After 1 or 2 hours of explaining I didn't have seriel number or proof of ownership because I bought it as a frame they then told me I couldn't report it ......... I gave up with those idiots.
