Giniel De Villiers is meant to be quite mean on a bike. Mark Webber arranges a MTB Adventure race every year in Tasmania where he had a bad wipe last time round.

By the time you have paid for a PC link you might as well buy a Garmin for that price which comes with all the cables if I'm not mistaken. What's the backup like on a VDO? Had a simple computer of theirs a while back and it was solid and reliable. Nothing fancy though.

I have downloaded Motion X which looks like a great GPS for the Iphone. Havent used it properly on a ride yet as I am sorted with a Suunto and GPSpod and always know where I am going which is not very far. You got a photo of that bike mount for the iPhone?

VDO looks nice. How much? Have you looked at a Suunto? Used T6 for many years with great results. Watch not a bike unit. Good looking watching that you can wear casually without looking like a knob.

As a regular walker on the spruit I cant say I find this approach very friendly. I used to use a bell (on the spruit) but found that most pedestrians were in too much of a dwaal to hear the ding ding ding and would jump out the way at the last second. I now just slow down and take a wide berth. More than enough space pretty much anywhere on the spruit.

Nope BigH, I am planning on riding in the tour next year. I will be 37 so I should be a hit. Brussel, I will see if I can scrounge some thing next week but I fear you may be right about the wall thickness. This one is for a small diameter pipe but I am sure a thicker pipe would have a sturdier clip.
