  1. Ridden Times, Looks and SPD's. Time are tops out of these 3. You wont go wrong with the other 2 though either.
  2. so it was all his fault? PLease give me his name, I would like to chat to him. My family comes from the town where the first shots of the war were fired. No one owned up so if its him he's in deep dwang.
  3. I cant scan this letter in to our local paper but the point is pretty well summed up by a dog walker complaining about cyclists in general. PM me your email addy and I'll scan and mail it to you. Too many people treating public places like their own race track.
  4. I honestly cant say I hear riders coming down. There are also many varieties of singletrack. I have never ridden Tokai so I cant comment on the specifics. Up here in Gauteng and Mpumalanga the trails are quite rocky and if you are riding a technical uphill chances are there is only 1 line for you to get up. You are watching your wheel or a couple of metres ahead. You also wont hear much over the noise your tyres are making on these loose rocks on this tight line. We can debate this topic untill the cows come home but the issue remains is that this trail rule has been accpeted by mountain bike organisations around the world. Its like driving on the left hand side of the road. On that note it still amazes me as to how many people still try go right when approaching traffic and almost cause collisions.
  5. There are 3 marked routes. I suggest you do route 1 first. It is short but pretty cool to orientate yourself. Then try 2 and 3. I cant remember the distances. Your alternative is to do an anti-clockwise loop following the road as close to the fence as possible. The loop pretty much starts and end other side of the highway bridge. Do a search for northern farm here and you'll find some maps. Have a cool time.
  6. BTS, you a taxi driver? As for arrogance in the Cape, I wish you guys stopped this exclusive mentality. You think you guys have everything and we have nothing up north of the Hex. Our level of arrogance kicks butt. We even have guys like BTS but they havent learnt to type yet.
  7. The entrance is on the South side. Not that great to get around to the Northern side, plus there is the highway in the way. I would also not like to ride that road on a bike. Russian Roullette.
  8. b2b, thats cool to yield to guys who are coming downhill. I hope they thank you for it. Dont you find that often they dont?
  9. DH tracks are a different story altogether. You would ideally shuttle up. Downhillers dont like riding uphill anyway. It all has to do with traction. It is extremely difficult to get going, clip in and try and resume and maintain momentum once you have stopped if you are going uphill. Downhill you can just roll down, clip in and be on your way. Unfortunately we do have to share our open spaces with other people and being pissed off about someone being in your space in the universe as you are feeling your downhill trail is not very nice. They didnt choose to be there. Your turn will come when you are on the up and you will appreciate someone giving you that helping hand when you need it.
  10. I doubt the guys were jumping the fence to skimp on costs. There are numerous tracks outside of NF and it really is nice to explore a bit more than NF can offer. The gate on the Northern side just East of the graves is sometimes open but not always.
  11. Maybe he's seen the way you treat ascending riders?
  12. Ah now I see. Then I guess I should be taking the seasons into account as well since the rotation angle in relation to the sun will be different . And this makes me think of the gravitational pull. I'll have to watch the moon. Definitely but read the disclaimer first.
  13. Smaller bike!
  14. These tyres are developed and tested in the Northern Hemisphere. For riding South of the equator you need to install them the wrong way round. Unless they have a Southern Hemisphere specific direction marked on them.
  15. Engine oil!
  16. I find it very useful when riding stage races to be able to see the altitude. As for the TE I prefer to use the HR limits and try and stick to the avreage heart rate with the calculator. I say that but its not like I have actually trained with real time TE. Also I'm not that anal about being 100% within my limits. I can recommend someone who sets up training programmes using TE. Very good.
  17. ......and that's what makes you so cool thanks SC Whoteva Nancy. I'll give you a hand takiing them off. Took mine off recently because I noticed that they had crimped my carbon straigh bars. Bought a new ali bar and decided to ride without them. I must first tell you that I first bought a Brahma bar in 1991 and have been riding bar ends ever since. Now that I have been riding bars without them I honestly think that they are overrated. I also found that using them numbed my pinkie as the bar/bar end corner dug into the soft flesh in the palm. Tried the Cane Creeks which I found too low. But hell, if it works for you, DO IT!
  18. I've done quite a bit of research on this and apparently the old T6 is a sturdier unit that the new T6C. Although you get real time TE you lose out on your altitude reading with the new firmware. I suppose it all depends on what riding and training you do.
