  1. Merida and Silverback is good options, buy the new bike, you know you want to, enjoy riding with the boys.
  2. Guilty - I only ride my bike(s) for fun.
  3. Then I must apologize, I have very little experience on SRAM, I have only worked on one road bike with hydraulic SRAM and it looked like mineral oil. Then they are not compatible.
  4. I think they could be, both use mineral oil, just hope that the diameter of the hose is the same, then make sure to get the correct olive and pin insert to meet the SRAM brake levers, you should be OK.
  5. I have used my MTB calipers with Road shifter/brake levers and it works like a charm.
  6. I watched that Video, 25000 USD for a bike!!
  7. what group are you starting on Sunday?
  8. Ok, so now you can post the EPIC RIDE weather predictions for Sunday, My plan is to ride with one water bottle and one peanut butter sachet then ride from water point to water point, see if I can survive the day - getting super excited.
  9. Just a bit of feedback on my rides on the bike I built so far, we went for a training ride this sunday, took a ride from the east to Rosebank and did the switchbacks up the linksfield koppie(according to to strava it is 1km long @9% average gradient); Man, this bike is comfy, I did the climb with the 1x gears all the way up, all I can say is, I am loving the bike.
  10. you touched it, it is yours to start.
  11. There is an amateur 3D printing thread, maybe you must post it there, I am sure someone will be able to assist.
  12. I remember one year, I started in S with my wife it was 28°C on the start line, imagine what the temp felt like after starting at 9:00 and riding for 4 hours.
  13. as far as I know no registration on the day.
  14. I think its a good idea have a look at @NotSoBigBen, he managed to get an airshaft with less travel and it works well, Mine works well for all the training rides in early mornings.
  15. Stem is 50mm long, the distance from the saddle to the bars are actually the same as my Trek Emonda, it might be an optical illusion, I did a 60km ride Sunday, was actually very comfy, planning to do the 947 on it.
  16. 82% cloud cover and only a 7km/h wind - we can just wish.
  17. So Finally it is finished and rides very lekker.
  18. Good morning, have anyone here mixed calipers, I am using SR505 Dual control levers with my Normal MTB MT200 calipers, they seem to work but the brakes are only solid with the lever almost against the bar, any tips? If I put the Bleed block in the caliper the lever is solid from the beginning. I am going to purchase some new brake pads this afternoon.
  19. So this monster got some drop bars, nicely done.
  20. Connected the Rear brake last night, it should be finished by Friday for the coffee ride, will post Before and after pics once it is complete.
  21. @nick_the_wheelbuilder what do you use to balance wheels??
  22. I am still thinking twice about entering, I need to save up for an Australian trip and I have my wife's 50th birthday next year, so unless I win the lotto or inherit some money this is not going to happen.
  23. I do have contacts, so I got it free the last time, definitely cheaper than 3D printing metal.
  24. I have to add, I use a Garmin pod with an OLD wahoo strap, I make sure I throw it in the shower every time after a ride.
