I would say, aim for a Mountian bike and then spend some bucks on a saddle that suits you but your backside must get used to the long sitting, Dual suspension is not needed for general riding, if the Nobbies makes it too hard, you can have "easier rolling" tires fitted but most important enjoy the trip and all the best for the way forward.

  6. I am trying to switch over to mywhoosh and they are trying my patience with HUGE updates but works most of the time and it is free. I used to be on Rouvy(until the family sharing feature fell away), it will work out cheaper than Zwift if My wife and I use it during winter time.

  8. The one nice feature on the "40" versions is the climb pro, which is automatic, you don't have to load a course, other than that my 530 was perfect.

  12. Short answer, it didn't but we made a plan, I used the generator during the day to charge the inverter's battery and used it during the night. As mentioned previously, I did set my inverter down to 20A charging, then the genie could do its trick but I am still going to invest in a proper AVR. We bought an inverter generator for the complex and it charges the trolley inverter with no problem.
  13. I went the El-cheapo way and I could not be happier, Silverback Sola 4 with Carbon fork and Gravel Tires. weighs 10.4kg with pedals - 1x10 gears (11-36) with a 42 Chainwheel from Rapide up front. This is my morning ride Training bike.

  15. Nick the wheel builder is now in Capetown, he is on the hub, he is a hands on Guy and will do a proper job.
  16. My wife converts her points into Dischem vouchers and very often we have a few R100 vouchers to spend, I am done with jumping through hoops, I am on Multiply through the work's Group life cover and get much better usable rewards.

  18. I have had some issues with Garmin pod on Garmin Belt, Garmin Pod on Wahoo strap and one small solution I found is to use a bit of Conduction gel(ultra sound gel) on the belt pads, get some gel from Dischem and try.
  19. When I hit the tar @ 70kph on Suikerbos rand, my helmet split in two pieces, afterwards, I spent even more on a MIPS helmet. Glad you are OK (ish) after the crash.

  25. Hi Johann, I am in Boksburg, I have basically built the same, just put Gavel Tires(Maxxis Rampler) on my MTB and got a Carbon fork from Keenbikes, I kept the straight handle-bars. PM me is you interested to see the build - weighs in at 10.3kg with pedals.
