  1. keep it real keep it steel keep it retro ..... My recently rebuilt Miyata Koga 912 - 1987
  2. Your Coppi above with all the Chrome seems to have STI shifters ..can't tell on this pic This would make it a later bike Beautiful .. And newer.. Which would most likley explain the added chrome ....
  3. To clarify the shifters .. The bike came standard with these 6 speed 105 sifters which allow the rider to change from friction to sis index shifting .. The balance of the bike is all Shimano 600 kit the reason 105 down tube shifters were Factory fitted is due to the shimano 600 shifters being weak and failing on lots of bikes.. I want to get a set of later deep dish wheels and have these with the 600 hubs and cassett restored. For easy riding .. Ill hammer the newer wheels for training ect. The bar tape is Fizik with added gel pads .. And all cables and housings are new Jagwire.. Looking for white fizik saddle to complete the look.
  4. - FOR SALE?
  5. ZIG ZAC TLY, LIKE THAT IF sis - 6 speed
  6. Hi - Agreed, the Shimano group set is 600 EX - from 1986/7 Its the first range of Shimano proudly displaying SIS - (Shimano Indexing System) I do need indexed, levers, -.. and the The correct detail = Shifters: Shimano SL-S434 Light Action. 6 Speed SIS. SEE PIC ATTACHED.... I managed to narrow the bikes history back to being Japanese Frame built in 1986/7 - Due to the whole bicycle being equipped with only shimano - the Shimano 600 - down to the hubs - The rims and handle bars are also eastern the wheels rims are Japanese...ARAYA - Bronze coloured . The Handle Bar - Chinese - HSINLUNG - HL - some research shows this company the maker of high end bicycle components.. So - Australian sold Japanese -
  7. Cool - I would like to know what it was in its original state.. Let me know when the 600 - 6 speed (12 speed old school) shifters, surface... I think the bicycle originally came from Australia, - but the Aussies - put different names on the same frames.. Like here with - Raleigh, Le Jeune, ect etc...
  8. did they come in chromoly - ?
  9. some pics as promised, - bike already partly stripped to begin paint removal...

Here are the pics of my 10 titanium screws, and one long titanium plate.... this was my post - after accident https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/102342-thanks-to-the-rangers-of-rietvlei-farm-and-er-911-para-medics/
  16. will do when i get them in 2 weeks... - Why upgrade your bike with bling Ti, when u can Upgrade urself with Ti...
  17. Hi.. I was a freak accident, I came around a bend - sweeping into another, ------ My Bar end clipped a tree, - My front wheel swung away, throwing me forward, and to the left.. (all ok at this point) My left foot unclips, and my front wheel, smashes into my foot, crushing it between the frame and front wheel.. ( now it gets ,,,STRANGE..) I kept moving forward and to the left, and now downwards, ----- my foot remains jammed, and I hear .. the crack, snap, pop.. foot comes loose.. I hit the ground, look at my foot, its dangling at a sureal angle... ( my body, pulled my foot forward, my wheel and frame trapped it, and since bones are weaker than alu, I broke..) My Ankle was dislocated, the Fibula snapped in a break right through the bone, And I broke the "balls" of the fibula and tibula, at the ankle... A real unusual accident - I was really cruising enjoying the trail and winding single track, as we have done 100x in the last 2 years..
  18. Yep - thanks again all of u.. I am having surgery tomorrow, broke the leg/ankle in 3 places and dislocated my ankle.. I messed that turn up.. - those bridges were great.. and - if all goes to plan -- I might be able to ride the excellent trails at rietvlie farm again in a few months or 3...( wife permitting) Again - I appreciate all the assistance given at the scene.. We all ride knowing we take risks, and when we have these mishaps.. knowing there are HEROS willing to Assist - and make sure we are ok and safe, makes all the difference --- I am really grateful, thanks again.....
  19. Thanks.. any tips for riding in a cast?
  20. Thanks also to the. Riders who stopped and helped.. Thanks to Bella for the support .. you're the best..
  21. Hi .. I wanted to say a massive thanks to the Rangers of Rietvlei Farm in Alberton and the Para Medics of ER 911 ~ Alberton.. Yesterday while riding Rietvlei.. A tree took me on .. Me = 0 .. Tree = 1.. I snapped my leg like a twig just above the ankle.. I was in the middle of the "Forrest" section near the river.. Luckily my beautiful wife was able to contact er911 .. She rode back to meet them.. They arrived within minutes.. They were great .. Settled me .. Splinted the leg.. Then they had to carry my 96kg on the stretcher The 3km back thru the forest to the closest road for the ambulance.. The Rietvlei Ranges helped my wife with the bikes.. Thanks all you guys .. You are real inspirations.. True Heroes... I am grateful.. For your efforts and kindness..
  22. I started running 3 weeks back, to mix the training up-- I have not run since mid 80"s - then i was forced into running by the "weermag" I died after 2.5km... seriuuus I spinn 2 times a week - ride weekends, only MTB, and can do 25/30km offroad to train no prob.. But Run.. I feel like my heart is going to burst out of my chest , my knees hurt, -- everything hurts.... Cycling is my choice to get fit, and healthy, Running my punishment for - eating wrong, drinking , etc etc....
  23. Cuddo's - I disagree how we can applaud mediocrity, are we so used to poor performance that we as South Africans actually applaud it??? This was supposed to be a planned event – one which will attract cyclists to our shores At this rate it’s an embarrassment... It is totally unacceptable to make crappy excuses like – we want to show case our culture... blah blah etc What utter B.S. – we are too used to making excuses for poor performance in S.A I am shocked by the events in day 1; 2 – How can we expect to be an attraction to top teams if we can't get a few road closure issues sorted?? Just my 2cents – Now u can all start hammering me - I am disappointed, no matter what gets said….. If I expected to be rewarded for crappy performance I would be " without" work...
  24. "Where I do find the 29er tough is on steep climbs where it feels as though there is some threshold speed under which you suddenly battle to keep momentum" quoted by - mtbmom - I agree, seems to suddenly loose all grip, going up step loose stuff.. just as you near the top -- it seems to loose grip as u stop thinking about keeping weight down on front... - slips right away... hence my broken rib.........
  25. Ok back on the Hub - MM Dave... I didnt add any carbon bits tho....!!!
