Been down 10 days same virus in throat n sinus.. Dr against antibiotics Working at night in - 3 in our warehouse during strike was also a contributor.. But I Rode 32 km at Modders yesterday at slower pace and felt OK leg wise but th k@k I hacked out all ride and since ..ain't pretty.. This thing is strong... But I need to be stronger as 94 is coming ..and I want to be fit for a cause..

interesting posts of value market.. Etc.. My 2cents after riding a lot of the retro bikes as a kid.. and in the last few years buying a good coupe restoring them.. Then selling them with a second lease on life.. I look for mid range complete older bicycles with complete upper end (Shimano 600 ) etc group sets . hubs and seat posts / stems brakes etc must all be of same group set and working .. Then strip sand polish sprayr grease.. Polish build. Ride .. Enjoy .. I have sold S.A. Built 1990's bicycles with exage and Shimano for good return even after new tyres and refurbing of saddles / bar tape cables . I have found a good reception in the 4 to 5 k market for decendly refurbished mid range old school bikes and some retro cruisers .. Even singlespeeds.. The better you restore the better the market.. Don't be shy to do the work yourself Stripping sanding painting polishing ..make sure your finish looks the part and is Correct and keep the bike looking like it did when new Collectable bikes fetch much more if kept original

Put in tubes .. Tweaked the rear sprocket with a decent 16tooth sprocket and ALU spacers.. Now. .. 48 ...16 .. Did maiden ride about 1km to our complex gate and back .. Slight uphill .. Back .. This ladies gonna make me strong.. Put her on the hanging scale and in second hand hand me down spec she sits At 9.1kg.. Heavy .. Now to source nice light weight wheels and bits I will post pics tomorrow..

Busy with this .. Bought a kozure fixie previously but it was not my style.. Not one of a kind ... So sold it and now a year later I've decided to build my own single speed road bicycle.. Emptied my bike bits stash.... Had a saddle ,peddles , brakes older shimano road calipers .. Short bar .. 105 wheels.. Just needed a decent steel frame . I managed to "trade" a chromoly( track frame set..) From LBS ... Took the lot home sanded and assembled her ... Just need tubes then fit tyres.. I need to find top tube cable clamps for the brake cable.. Anyone know where I can get pls pm me.. Here is my SS roadie all black ... Tomorrow I fit tubes and tyres and give her a test run

Just for info .. The frame is Chrome moly Fuji Track so no need for messy Chain tensioner ...

Decided to do a proper home made single speed Emptied the bike room, garage and smokkeled a Track frame from my LBS for a steal.. Started with sanding and Matt spraying the frame Added the stock seat post and stem Will convert a set of std road bars into bull horns But until then a set of Dixie bars will do.. I added a set of 198..something Simano calipers I am playing around with the rear sprockets I took the 7 speed cassette apart and i added Spacer keeping 3 sprockets on for now .. A 12 .. 17.. 23 .. Will decide later after busting my legs to chose a ratio... Wheels are stock 1999 105 .. I'm looking for a set of decent track hubs with a flip flop rear hub to build a decent set of deep dish wheels .... Current cost is minimal as all bits bar the track frame were off previous builds ... Tyres will follow tomorrow

I am looking at changing her from the Shimano , components... Over to 10 Speed Campy... Since its handmade Italian ... & Shimano seems out of place on her.. after some research I found these ZER came with Various components.. Shimano and Campy.. If anyone has a decent period 10Speed group set , pm me..

Wanted to go soft tail, again.. All the steel in me due to falls is asking for a softer ride.... So got a decent Merida frame off B.Fontana here on the Hub.. Chucked the Suntour rear shock, Redid the paint work..tidied her up.. stripped my hardtail, and added a Fox Rp23 to the mix.. Cleaned and checked all bits and then added them to the frame,, Two and a half hours later and I have a decent soft tail..just have to get a rear detailed cable sheath... As the hard tails is not covered.. Now to break her in on the weekend...

Mmmm I'm an older tjop ... Closing in on 50.. Been cycling since I can remember ... Never pro or super fast but Gone from a Schwinn tricycle ... To a Schwinn chopper Through redline chrome moly BMX ... Steel 12 speed Reynolds racer ... Eventually ALU downhill Giant then more ALU MTB than I can remember And a full carbon road bike .... But after 40 years and way too may broken bones and now titanium inserts in some places ... I still prefer the feel , the look ,the acceleration a decent hand welded chrome moly Gives ... steel is real.... In my humble opinion all the new stuff is just for marketing and market share ... If you ride a real steel beauty ... You will feel why steel is real... My 2c

A got this ... Very clean Sancini.. Gave her a clean new bar tape and tyres.. Removed some hideous neon stickers and ... Now she's a classic ... Will be adding brown leather bar tape and brown leather saddle ... The bike is all Shimano exage motion except rim Campagnolo gama strada rims Bike is very well looked after just a few small spots ... And it was a give away... A Columbus chrome moly give away all original..... Sweeettt

Im doing 45 - 50 - old toppies - But a lot of the good older dudes are in this class.. Im going to enjoy the opportunity to ride with the top guns, If I get lapped , tough.. I started and I rode, with every intention of finishing.. I usually ride, Modders, Thaba not so much and Groenkloof a little more.. SO hills and interval training to add and I should be ok -- just to comptete in this is a treat Thanks for all the advice... com on some more join me -- I know I cannot win -- Its the experience I want - and the ability to say - Hey I did it.. I usually do half marathon "races"- rides -- But the chance to ride with top names was just too much -- so I had a moment of brain fade tonight and entered the Masters XCO race in Pietermaritzburg in Aug.. Now I will def need to do serious hill training - and make sure I can at least do laps.. Anyone with a few tip???

I have a recurve -- RAGIM with accessories and target lying at home, Its a lot harder than shooting -- the Beretta's -- I have had 0 time to shoot, -- the recurve Bows are traditional and the compound are the newer used for Hunting -- smaller and compact, It a challenge to get recurve right, and one uses instinct as said above -- Love the sport, NOW THAT MY BIKES STOLEN -- I MIGHT HAVE MORE TIME TO SHOOT -- ESPECIALLY THE F........R WHO STOLE MY BIKE IF I SEE IT .. Ive been building a RAT ROD BAJA aswell - just to keep busy

Bad .. Planning and too many walking riders .. Did 40km 2nd one we've done ..disappointing to have to stand at every small technical area.. And the @#¤ up at the final river crossing had young riders pushing in past the queue then 3/4 of riders turn and do the tar section ... *** planning for such a big brand race .. Will prob skip this next time last one in calenon was much better
