  1. I've bought 2 Garmin units and some tires from Matt/EasyGis/Easybike. I even inquired a few months ago about when they will get stock of the 910XT but he was not sure. A week ago he emailed me asking if I still wanted a unit as they got some limited stock!!! Awesome service
  2. Some of those tricks were insane!!
  3. Durban had one as well last year - although it was just 3 of us Hubbers that came
  4. Got mine from Easygis - best decision ever
  5. I tried ordering from Amazon.com with shipping to SA. Wouldn't let me buy it, says not permitted to ship the item (or something to that effect). If anyone else knows how to get around it please let me know, in Rands the Hero HD 2 came to maybe R2300 (outdoor edition). I think there may be limitation on the shipping regarding the battery (they are Lithium Ion) as on ebay people sell the Gopros excl. the battery with a note saying there is no battery included to allow overseas shipping... Can anyone verify that??
  6. Waiting at the airport so missing the tdf :'(
  7. The only thing I have learnt from this thread is that I ride a piece of plumbing, aka Giant
  8. Cool - thanks
  9. Serious??? Didn't realise it was so expensive!!Sod that - will do it myself when the time comes. Thanks for the tips everyone - appreciate it
  10. I didn't ask - went out at lunch so was in a rush I assume they cut a new groove with a hacksaw or Dremel and got it out with a flat blade..
  11. Going to do the lowers in December, will start to get everything together so it's all ready to go. Uppers will do next year i reckon. Just wanted to gauge the costing - whether it would just be more viable to take it to the shop to do. Sweet - thanks dude
  12. Shot - I live in Musgrave so that's super close.
  13. Sweet - thanks man. Appreciate it. Will pop in there next time I'm at the Pav In the service kit did you get the dust wiper seals, foam rings as well as the O rings for the air spring in the stanchion?
  14. What seals do you use?
  15. Durban - Musgrave
  16. Thanks dude - looks like a good guide. Will print this off to keep.
  17. The taxis will still speed down that line so it will never be safe The fact that it's wide enough for a car will give them even more reason (from the looks of the picture).
  18. I do apologise if this has been posted before (I did do a search though). I want to attempt to service my fork in a few months time. I have a Rockshox Recon SL, solo air with a poploc. I have downloaded the manuals from the SRAM website which I have read through and seem to make sense. Regarding the items that would be replaced (o rings, dust seals etc) does anyone know if there is a local online shop I can get these items (bar CRC etc)? As much as I would like to try save money and do the thing myself if the cost of buying the replacable items (from an online shop or LBS) is the same or more expensive than taking it to a LBS for a service then might as well let the LBS do it - heard G2G is good. There is still the matter of buying the tools and the oil for the thing as well. I have got all the tools to do the normal service and have just done that but the only thing I cannot do myself at this stage is the fork (and headset but thats another matter ) Any thoughts? Where do other Hubbers get these items? They must be available somewhere as lots of people have Rockshox forks If i could I would go on Johans Yellowsaddle fork service course but they are only in CT and JHB I'm sure the above questions would be answered there....
  19. Thanks - ordered some from Motosports in Hillcrest. Was going to go to Perry Yamaha but going to Umhlanga is a schlep during the week. The guy said its about R100, getting the one with the squirt gun and cartridges to get into the hub. The other grease I have is Motorex Bike Grease 2000 - says it's highly water repellent
  20. If only we had something like this in Durbs - I would definitely do the Fork and wheel building course!
  21. Where would I get this? Got some standard grease from the Bike shop which I used for my BB and crank which I overhauled on the weekend. Got new ball bearings for my Hubs which I was going to do tonight. You reckon this lube is better than the bike shop stuff? When I cleaned by Hubs the grease in there was blue... I have been putting together a basic tool set - will post tonight what I bought and costs. Was not that expensive to be honest. I can do everything now I reckon aside from a fork service. I shall attempt that next year though
  22. I don't want to know why
  23. Got my wheel back from "4 Ever Cycles Hillcrest" today - R25 to get the screw out and they gave me a new screw so I'm very chuffed. I rocked up at the shop expecting to see the Mavericks sign but they are not there anymore?? The old Cyclelab from up the road moved into the premises and are trading as 4 Ever Cycles. Awesome service from them though. Servicing my hubs now so will go back to them tomorrow to get the new ball bearings. Thanks again for the help/tips guys
