  1. You can get the Spark 29er Elite for around R19k - call and haggle all the Cajees... If you want great service and a nice LBS to buy it from at maybe a couple rands more then goto Cycle Tech in Kyalami and speak to greg or marco. The elite 29er is best value for money, no question - it's mostly full XT with a couple SLX and Avid 7s for brakes.... Better to spend the 3 or 4k more now and save yourself the heartache of wanting a "29er" later....
  2. Tie a string to your foot then measure it off with a ruler when you get back? / just remember to divide it by 2 because you swimming back with slack?
  3. LOL.. LOL... ROTFLMAO... Me, Yes, and ok I forgive you...
  4. LOL - two days of this discussion - we SO closed this topic last night already, get with it PEOPLE.. (And if you run it 1x10 and use the front derailleur routing to install a dropper post on this, then the bike will be AMAZING and the "chuckablilty" and street cred will be out of this world!!!) It's A GOOD DEAL!!!!
  5. Don't know what to say, its so frikken sad.
  6. Why not, your so fat i'm thinking of calling ghostbusters... i mean weighless...
  7. It's waaaay past your bed time...
  8. I have no retort.... You win... For the OP, don't be a tjop and listen to kuk advice from people talking about stoopid stuff they know nothing about. If you want a 29er have yourself fitted professionally, or alternatively if you are happy with your current bike/setup just measure your toptube length from seat-post mount to end of stem and compare with the 29er frame that tickles your fancy...then get a frame in similar size and "dial" it by adding a stem/bars putting you in a familiar position... then ride your big wheels like the clown you are... xxo I'm out of here before the Crow gets any stranger..... By the way, Burry was riding a size SMALL Stumpjumper HT at the most recent world cup in Houffalize... he makes a comment about it in the spez411 youtube coverage.... maybe that's where your mates picked up on the idea of riding a smaller size.... but i bet they are not XCO champions and take these comments totally out of kontext.
  9. All you need is a suspension seatpost, yes... seatpost shox and one of those pullover seat cushions... and your hardtail will be super "plush" And then you need to get it dialed... so that you can shred....
  10. I know silly, that's why i said it tongue in cheek...... or toptube between cheeks....
  11. Keep on trying, you might just beat Paul Bas - executing what is touted as the world's first natural terrain double backflip. You can set the word's first natural double butt-flip?
  12. Whats your take on global warming?
  13. Mayhem...dont you know anything?... all you have to do to measure a bike-fit is to do the "stand-over 4 finger test". If you can fit 4 fingers then your sharp. If you fit 3 fingers then your ok, because you can just let some air out the tjoops If you can grab the top tube in between your but cheeks while in standover then the bike is too small, but the OP buddies recon it can give you amazing chuckability....
  14. SL-R...naaaice!!! (oh man I'd so be chucking and tossing an Ibis around, but i just can get over the cable routing... it's a mental block for me... i'm trying to get over myself...) I've already ordered an XO DH crankset with matching XO chainguide.... will use it with my BigTop in the meantime until I can get my hands on a plastic SB-66.
  15. wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle yeah... that's how I roll... chucking it out of control.... thanks for your contribution to the discussion....
  16. You know what would make it even MORE sexy... is to run it 1x10 and then use the integrated cable routing of the front mech to house your Reverb2 dropper post.. that would make it sick and it would have awesome "chuckability"
  17. Yes, it's actually a really awesome deal!!! I just had a look at the specifications of the SL729, and based on that you can easily build this SL929, with 2012 XT Groupset, and FOX forks well under +-10.6kg's including pedals... R 13k for Frame + Wheels R 7k for Kashima FOX 100mm or SID XX R 7.5 for Complete 2012XT groupset, including XT Race pedals and ice-tech rotors (check the classifieds, i have some in stock) R 2.5 for finishing kit and BAMMMM!!!! You have a +-10.6kg 29er to RACE for about 30k!!! Good deal!
  18. Agreed 100% However I blame it on the LBS... They dont have experienced enough sales people who can actually provide enough good information and education to customers, especially newbies... If a LBS had a couple of frames in stock, a couple grouppo's, stems, posts and finishing kit, then they would eble customers to buy local bikes in better spec and better personal match. But all dumbass LBS sales staff want do is sell people the crap they have standing on the floor... which inevitably ends up being the mass imported probike and omnico brands....
  19. That will be my 2nd half 2012 bike.. SB-66 in plastic.
  20. Ja... what about using tossability... because I do think I have mad skillz
  21. Ok, in all honesty the R13k for the frame and the wheels are actually not a bad deal.. especially since their frame has some really nice "tweaks" from their "R&D" input. And for sure you can rely on them if something ever should go wrong... I'd buy one if my BigTop wasn't just sent on it's way to SA...
  22. LOL... you must be kidding me right, you are actually comparing a Yeti, Spez or Intense frame to a Momsen right? You of all people... that's really funny, thanks for the lag... good one'
  23. Lol....or just ask your "buddy" if you can measure his frame, because by the sound of it he has the best bike fit ever, so good it will even fit YOU... the friend that told you about "chuckability" sounds super knowledgeable...
  24. A great "deal" is to buy the Yeti BigTop 29er for $1099... this Momsen mass produced, "everyone has it frame" is not a great deal at 12k.. sorry to say... just my view. Silverback, Momsen, Rapide, and countless other brands are selling these.... For R7600 you can get the Rapide which is also a "local" brand, not? http://www.rapide.co...px#.T6F9-8QtjWQ
  25. That's a Krap rule with Kapital K. It's the effective top tube you need to worry about first.
