  1. Ja SHOW it!!!
  2. +1 (not another Pie) just a +1 to agree with what you said mr mayhem! In any case, I only ever build my own bikes, it's the only way I end up keeping them and enjoying them.... if you buy an off the shelf bike you will get moeg of it so quickly.... No better feeling if you ask me.. especially if it get attention. Cant wait for my Yeti BigTOP frame to arrive... whoop whoop!
  3. You talk sense....so unlike clint_za usual bs.
  4. And unless you are a seriously talented individual, I still think a team would have a better chance of attracting a quality sponsorship vs an individual.
  5. You will need a "CV" and motivation on the sponsorship. You will also have to communicate your goals and objectives. You will need to demonstrate your ability to attract coverage for the sponsorship. Also, there is a difference between a sponsorship and a charity case... which are you?
  6. That's not cool - the carpark always seemed rather safe...
  7. new bike mount with rubber bands complete, original Garmin should be less than R55 bucks.
  8. Quick search on us forums seems street price around $400 dolla
  9. It's worth R5000 to him as per the ad on bidorbuy?.... http://www.bidorbuy.co.za/item/43288976/Peugeot_Team_Line_2000_Racing_road_bike.html
  10. Thanks for being honest about the battery, your the first to admit that. If you have used it for 18 months, can you please provide us with a profile name for strava.com so that we can see how much you use it as an example?
  11. ROTFLMAO.... finally it strikes me....you guys are all iPhone fanboy's.... that what this is all about. In any case, if your phone is so GREAT... and you use it SO often.... Please provide your stava.com profile name as an example so that we can see how much you use it and how well it works? Any takers, all the people who's phones work SOOOO well? Please show us. Yes... your phone can "work" for a ride or two... but I bet you dont actually USE it...3-4 times a week for months???
  12. Niice!!! Weight if I may ask?
  13. C'mon, no way you can compare your phone "gps" to an Edge 500 or Edge 800. Does it display temperature, speed, cadence, hr, time and averages of everything? Does the battery actually LAST for the entire ride? Can you work it while riding, is it responsive and the screen viewable? Is it robust enough to take some wear and tear such as rainy weather and the odd bail-out every now and then? Is it reliable and accurate? Stop stuffing around, if you want a special purpose device to track your training, your rides, your routes, and all ove the above then you need to get a proper GPS based cycling unit. You can get an edge 500 bundle for under 3k these days, it has an awesome warranty by GARMIN in SA and it will most likely last you 4, 5 or 6 and more years? And although i'm an edge fanboy there are other gps cycling units around which offer just the same great benefits... Ppppffft@using mobile phone as gps/cycling computer... not cool. It's just about as dumb as using your microwave oven to make coffee... it's possible.. but stupid because that why you have a Kettle....
  14. New one... In any case, a new bike takes about 40 hours of riding for your body/mind to get totally used to it... and in just about at the same time your suspension will settle in nicely... Have a blast, it's a nice bike!

LOL - finding a Sales guy at CL FW has never been my issue, in fact I try to dodge them and find/hunt what I need myself. I've bought my first 3 MTB's from them, because they had a good selection of stock and it was a nice place to shop... however in hindsight I cant help but feel a bit ripped off due to the poor advice I received from them at the time.."unbeknownz to me at the time" I am sorry but I really find most of their sales staff to be rather super doff, especially re mtbing... The ladies working there are super helpful and competent though, that I can say. I now treat them the same as Cajee's.... know exactly what you want before you walk into the store, do you research, call to see if they have it in stock.
  16. +1 for what mayhem is saying... in terms of the extra 4k, is it worth it... yes, basically it is... You get: REBA Tapered vs Recon Silver Forks Standard - better performance and less flex - it's really good... And you get XT/SLX/Avid 5s v.s SLX/DEORE/Avid 1 components. And the total weight difference is 1KG between the bikes which is about 7.4% or so difference. Basically better forks, tapered forks, better brakes, and much better drive train.. XT12 crankset and rear mech is the BOMB...
  17. They make cheap ads, with cheap actors, with cheap music and stock video/music/etc... then they buy all the kuk airtime on all the kuk channels... In the advertising world we are all put in "categories" based on earnings basically, in what they call LSM groups... the higher target market or # of people statistically going to see your advert, the higher you gonna PAY for the spot.. And if you try to book high profile events like rugby, then they bully you into taking packages... so for example you cant just take super 15 without also taking curry cup, or you cant book the international games without taking other packages, etc... and even if you are willing to pay you gonna fight for a spot against the banks, mobile phone, automakers and other massive brands... and lose basically because their budgets are bigger than 29er wheels....
  18. Sorry - didn't look properly... still would suggest you get the elite... try Cycle Tech in midrand... Shop Lg 2a. Kyalami Downs Shopping Centre. Kyalami Boulevard, Midrand. Phone: 011 466 9974 greg or marco will sort you out

  20. A good spot around "KARTE-BLANCHE" for example can cost upto R50 for 1x30sec ad. An average package for example the tour de france will be around R600k for a couple spots per day... therefore if we assume they make a gross margin of 30% then you have to sell R2 million of kit to recover only your advertising cost... so for example if you were Spez you would have to sell about 60 new bikes at 35k average per bike.... It's alot... but certainly worth the money if you have an AD - maybe already produced for you my the brand itself, etc. Here comes the trick, that excludes your production and agency fee's etc... for your info a 30sec international standard/top quality ad will cost about R2mil to produce with one day filming, insurance, actors fee's, music, etc etc.... So now you have to recover R2.6mil investment, @ 30% margin gross sales has to be about R8.6million to recover only your COST. R8.6/35k average bike then you have to sell 250 bikes before you break even dude... thats ALOT of high end bikes... Now imagine you are selling selling cycling baggies, or glasses or shoes @ R 1500 avg each you have to sell like 6000 units to break even.... TV advertising = not for sissies bru.. you have to have big'ones Oh, sorry forgot to mention if you want to show your shiny new ad on both SD and HD you basically almost pay double
  21. You can get the Spark 29er Elite for around R19k - call and haggle all the Cajees... If you want great service and a nice LBS to buy it from at maybe a couple rands more then goto Cycle Tech in Kyalami and speak to greg or marco. The elite 29er is best value for money, no question - it's mostly full XT with a couple SLX and Avid 7s for brakes.... Better to spend the 3 or 4k more now and save yourself the heartache of wanting a "29er" later....
  22. Tie a string to your foot then measure it off with a ruler when you get back? / just remember to divide it by 2 because you swimming back with slack?
  23. LOL.. LOL... ROTFLMAO... Me, Yes, and ok I forgive you...
  24. LOL - two days of this discussion - we SO closed this topic last night already, get with it PEOPLE.. (And if you run it 1x10 and use the front derailleur routing to install a dropper post on this, then the bike will be AMAZING and the "chuckablilty" and street cred will be out of this world!!!) It's A GOOD DEAL!!!!
