  1. LOL@your comment at the bottom of their review... Some Silverback marketing/pr person is absolutely cringing @you... Bad BOY how dare you rain on their parade...
  2. for full finger gloves, FOX is the shizzle... and on an edge 800 or on your smartphone, the silicone tips on the fingers help you press da buttons.... And did I ever tell you that the FOX Shirts have special routing for your iPod earphones... And OOHHH OHHH wait, my FOX Shorts have a little string with a soft cloth to wipe my OAKLEYS.....
  3. Dude, get some FOX gloves, most of them have special embossed silicone details on fingertips to solve this issue for you...
  4. Awesome!!! And you can get your BBM's, emails, sms's, phone calls, calendar and take pictures, and put a headset in and listen to mp3's and watch youtube videos and make prank calls, and get weather updates and check in your facebook and make a tweet or two... lekker neh! Get a GARMIN dude.
  5. CK - it will last you a lifetime. Hope is NOT bad either.
  6. Gross man... im having breakfast... LOL... Yeah, a good pair of flats bite you ALL the time... even while just loading and pushing you bike around they will get you a couple of times during the course of a single day... but you get used to all the little nicks and scratches after a while.....
  7. 5.10 Minnaar's are heavy... but I dont have no problem with them on a sub 2:00 ride... after that they get heavy... I do kuk myself with them while climbing mankele's never ending mountains for example.. but they are very comfortable and it really is convenient being able to use one pair of shoes on my 29er and 150mm bike... especially during the week when I dont plan which bike i'm going to ride untill i walk out the door.
  8. ROTFLMAO - ja, I just said it so that the other people can call me a dork, because it makes them feel better about themselves. I try to always give way, it's not worth the stress or issues by trying to enforce your "rights".. at the end of the day it makes no difference in my life if I have to yield, or let another car go infront of me, or if someone cuts a line, all small things really... LIFE is TOO short...
  9. +1, and tubm's it's like I said, it's not just trail use, it's the same with road manners, public places, and business... people just cant get along...
  10. I 100% agree... and horses are another story... they are much less maneuverable than a "walker" and a "poodle" and so much more can go wrong... but just because I have a dog on a string doesn't mean walkers can be rude, obnoxious and misluk does it? All I'm trying to say is that maybe the walkers can also just be decent and nice.... And just to make it clear, I personally always give right of way to EVERYONE and EVERYTHING.. dogs, walkers, runners, other cyclists, animals, alles... not because I feel they DESERVE it, but rather because it takes nothing away from me by being polite or going out of my way for someone else... But most people in this thread again loves to hold on to that thing called entitlement and right... just be nice... it will all work out in the end.
  11. Yeah, I mostly agree - but sometimes it really is much easier for a person walking a dog on a leash to just move outside the track and let a cyclist by, obviously when they clearly see you coming from a far distance... what yanks my chain is when they purposely try and stand their ground and pee you of because they feel they are entitled more than you to be there... And why, all of the sudden does the dog/walker have more right to be there than me, and my 10 year old son? because we are on bicycles? really, now the dog and the walker have right of way... How's this for popcorn... I bet I pay more taxes than 99.9% of the walkers there, they must give way for me.... LOL... i'm entitled, especially when i'm on my 29er...
  12. 7 Deadly sins of narcissism: Shamelessness: Shame is the feeling that lurks beneath all unhealthy narcissism, and the inability to process shame in healthy ways. Magical thinking: Narcissists see themselves as perfect, using distortion and illusion known as magical thinking. They also use projection to dump shame onto others. Arrogance: A narcissist who is feeling deflated may reinflate by diminishing, debasing, or degrading somebody else. Envy: A narcissist may secure a sense of superiority in the face of another person's ability by using contempt to minimize the other person. Entitlement: Narcissists hold unreasonable expectations of particularly favorable treatment and automatic compliance because they consider themselves special. Failure to comply is considered an attack on their superiority, and the perpetrator is considered an "awkward" or "difficult" person. Exploitation: Can take many forms but always involves the exploitation of others without regard for their feelings or interests. Often the other is in a subservient position where resistance would be difficult or even impossible. Sometimes the subservience is not so much real as assumed. Bad boundaries: Narcissists do not recognize that they have boundaries and that others are separate and are not extensions of themselves. Others either exist to meet their needs or may as well not exist at all.
  13. Hey Steve - you are 100% correct, and most of us agreed with your sentiments... However, you might have missed the point we were trying to make... If you buy a standard bike, you will end up making upgrades to it because they have to compromise the build in some way by either mixing groups, low end wheels or low end forks, or really low end finishing kit... Take your bike for example, it's a really nice bike, I really do like it, but the saddle, stem, bars, grips, and seat post would require an "upgrade" in my opinion, and your R2000 estimation is rather conservative. I personally would also be itching to change the brakeset because I "have" to roll with XT12 brakes... When you take all of this into consideration it often is cheaper to build... in the long run But you are right, cant beat the initial "value" of the silverback, momsen or some of the scott's for a roll-off the floor deal.
  14. 2 drive, 1 on on the non-drive side is the norm with most 68mm bb's.... From what I know and have read on other forums the MegaExo is not always 100% compatible with Shimano cranks. Some say because of diameter being different or even that the mega expo cranks are tapered.... I can suggest you try the Hope stainless steel BB's - they are the shizzle http://www.chainreac...x?ModelID=80494 Oh - maybe you just need to have the threads on you bb cleaned and chased to be sure.
  15. yes dad. ill try better next time.
  16. Lol@Jan - you just wanted to brag that you have a GF... show us some few Pichas!!! lol
  17. Lol@Cav - that's way narrow for MTB'ing you dirty roadie.... 640-660 for 26ers 680-720 for 29ers Also depends on the type of bike, stem length, saddle postion, curve/bend/rise of the bars....
  18. WE DEMAND SOME FEW PICHAS !!!! @ Goodbadugly!!! Don't know where you are, but if your in Gauteng you are welcome to come and use my tools/workshop if you need any special tools to complete your build... Just bring beer and pizza! I just about have all the tools you could ever need... A little tip, if you buy one or two tools every now and then, then soon you'll never have to depend on any bike shop or be at their mercy... get TOOLS! TOOLS are cool
  19. I don't usually flex my muscles in the mirror, but I admit to sometimes humming "i'm sexy and I know it" for hours at a time... Thank you for taking the time to respond in such great detail - no hard feelings, I still think a phone is not a practical option for someone who is committed to cycling as a regular form of "exercise or escape". GPS Cycling computer is the shizzle.
  20. Wow - did you reach zone4 in your response there? You guys take this thread way too seriously, simply because even if we all agreed on our little community "thehub" to do the "right" thing and respect each-other and behave perfectly while on the parks then you will STILL find people who out of either spite or stupidity behave like idiots, just because its the south african way....it's our mentality. You can substitute the walkers, the dogs, the cyclists, the park, with many other similar issues such as road, traffic, queues, movie cinemas's, shopping malls, business, and SA life in general. We dont care about each-other and we all act selfishly and righteously because we think we are entitled to something because of our skin colour, age, size, looks, associations or many other reasons... You giving me your little speech doesn't make you any better because I bet you are not perfect yourself Mr. So when I said "stay out of my way or I ride over you" -- I was actually just baiting you and you hooked like the pretentious fool that most of us are. because instead of trying to engage me in a friendly way you immediately became the perfect one and scolded me for the "uneducated, intolerant, selfish and juvenile" I am. How lucky am I to be addressed by you the Tolerant, Educated, Generous and Mature cornerstone of our society?

  22. Sorry Heman... didn't mean to offend anyone.... just trying to illustrate that if your cycling at delta park it doesn't automatically make you an inconsiderate human being with no right of being there or enjoying the great public spaces.... The point I was trying to make is that the "walkers" can also be more considerate and I must admit I really find some of them quite spitefull in their behavior. And just so you KNOW, I dont ever actually hunt down old ladies walking their poodles... I use my suspension and go OOOOF the track and pass them nicely... And if they are HOT tannies then I usually follow them around until they notice me and then I greet them and pass them...LOL
  23. So stop with the YADA YADA YADA... please share with us your STRAVA profile so we can see all the 1000's of KM's you have so successfully logged with your PHONE-GPS.... im particularly interested in you showing us your personal ride log for a ride longer than 2:30 when using your SUPER NOKIA.,,?? will we ever see this? I BET NO!>
  24. Very very nice peter.
  25. My two cents... If you are walking your dog, why dont you walk on the open grass or feld, there are 1000's of squeare meters of it in/around delta and the spruit and the parks. I think it's easier for a dog and a person to walk off the beaten track than on the MAIN walking/commuting/cycling "trail". But no, you get these stupid people who have to walk their dog in the 15cm singe track path? that is pathetic. Get out the way or i'll ride over you!!!!! If I take my kids/dog to the park, which i often do, I go to the open feld around the dams and let my jack russel and kids run their asses off without bothering anyone commuting or cycling in the track/trail. - this is such a stupid thread. Who cares if you walked in the park for 20 flippen years.. Strange there is only one "path"/track then because the way you guys make it sound is that the entire park should be flattened.... there is a single track....l
