Nothing like the smell of fresh bromance (or napalm) in the morning huh...
  6. For the record, I was really interested in people views on choosing between the two options: 1. Better performing components (i.e higher spec forks, suspension and drivetrain) on a 26er vs: 2. Really average components but bigger wheels, be it 650b or 29er. And then i would like to know, no matter what their choice was, which would actually give them a "better" experience and performance advantage. that's the point i was trying to make and seek popular opinions on....
  7. LOL, thanks for the pep talk, i think it's exactly what i needed. from tomorrow im making a new, fresh start....

  9. What I REALLY find funny is the obsession with wheel size- why would one be so worried about the size of wheel, as opposed to the suspension travel, suspension design, gearing/ratio's, drivetrain performance, etc etc. Is it safe to assume all these inbetweeners now have ALL the other things sorted... For example, do they know exactly what type suspension design suits them personally and complements their particular riding styles? Flip, do they even know how to set up their bike properly or even ride the correct frame size/stem lengths, etc. etc etc.. Would the performance benefit you get from wheels really exceed the sum total of many other things... For example, if I run 27.5's on a crappy forks, that's not properly tuned or setup, on a bike that might not be my size or a suspension design that is inefficient, will it offer me any benefit to a proper 26er with high spec and components? I see so many 29ers in the shops now, but most of them have really *** components.. I'm just wondering why someone would be so obsessed with wheelsize but settle for average basket of other components - especially when it comes to frame, suspension design and forks/shox???

Quick question, best place to buy blue loctite?
  15. Does a size 8 foot fit in a size 7 shoes, probably?.... but would it be comfortable or will the shoe last, NO!!! Wtf are you worried about an extra 1.5" - why dont you just train a bit harder, improve your technical skills or get a totally different bike rather? It was not designed for it, and if wont make any difference to you.... except the usual placebo effect.... Eat some red smarties before you ride, it makes your wheels roll better over obstacles...
  16. Its a surprise.... it has alot f travel, it will have a 160 36f actory fox and more.... 20mm / 142mm axles ....etc
  17. LOL, actually i did order a white pair of YETI ODI Lock=on grips to be matchy matchy with the frame.... GET THE ORANGE, they will pop on your plastic dale!!!!
  18. Ja, my brats are 7 and 9.... so i have adjusted and accepted that kids cost cash...... i suffa'd through that phase... but if i had to choose between a kid and a bike.... i'd choose the kid...LOL.... i think... yeah..umhm... of course LOL
  19. Actually some of their "saving" is helping lower the cost of my items... LOL... a bit of skimming going on here... hehe
  20. Sold 2x bikes (29er + 26er), saved a bit, using some "credit" and now building 1 bike..to my dream spec... Also, some of the items are for mates and family... not all mine...
  21. You can get really good deals if you catch the right sale, but you have to be ever ready to order, because most of these clearance sales sell out within a couple of hours if not minutes.. Also, if you order larger orders you save so much on shipment costs because the %freight cost to order value is greatly improved. I paid 39 Euros for 42.7kg package, that's crazy! My total cart value was about R30k after I cashed in a 10% discount code. making the shipping cost only about 1.5% of total order value. To give you an idea, found a sale on Reverb(v2) seatpost for 167 euro, because i negotiated 10% discount voucher on 2500euro min order it was invoiced at 150.3 euro + 1.5% shipping X 10.6 exchange rate X +-16.5% for clearance fee, vat, etc = cost of R 1890 ... delivered to my door within 2-3 days from order
  22. LOLZ It's OK... i also never expected them to deliver, plus i was VERY skeptical to hand over cash to an oke at my front door... But he was legit, very pleasant and very professional... I was amazed... that's why i was so cheeky about it, because i didn't believe it myself.
  23. Hey CAV - no jokes! I now have a fully fledged workshop - pretty much all the major tools... only thing i cant do, or dont have (proper) tools/skills for myself is wheel building... and to be honest dont know if i ever want to go there... Secondly, what I never knew was that if you order more than R20k - your shipment will be stopped by customs and you will have to furnish them with an IMPORTERS CODE. Not many people know that, I didn't... So I had to apply/register... I'm now officially an importer/exporter as per SARS.. LOL... I'm done with LBS... had too many bad experiences and been ripped off way to many times, and been frustrated too often by people who dont know jack about bikes but work in a bike shop
  24. Just placed my largest online order to date. Ordered this morning, already dispatched and just received the UPS tracking number... Previous maximum package/shipment weight for cycling goods was 16kg... My latest order is 42.7kg!!!! 1x set Wheels, Groupset x 2, Some Park Tools, Reverb seat-post, tires, and a couple other bits... Whats your record weight for a single shipment of cycling goodies? Challenge now is to intercept the delivery because my wife will certainly NOT believe me when I tell her 42kg's of cycling goodies cost a grand or two???
