  1. Hi all, I've been suckered into a midday ride on the 27th of November(more commonly known as the 94.7 road race)YES, i did seed that badly. SO, back to the question, should I remove my knobblies and put on some slicks (which I have from last years midday ride) or should i push ahead. Does it really help?
  2. Thanks again, I weigh in at 83kg, and normally run at higher pressures as most the area surrounding me is sandy, and I dont need more drag than I already have. Will keep the pressure a bit higher and lose a few kilos
  3. Thanks for the info! What pressure would you consider reasonable? I don't normally run very low pressures, but would like to know what would be considered safe!
  4. Things are looking a bit bleak! Don't want a new set of teeth! I'm rather happy with the current ones!
  5. The tyres were more expensive that the UST version, but wanted the extra layer for the sidewalls. So no risk of that. So will have to take my chances for now, not willing to drop another grand on tyres yet!
  6. What are your thoughts on my combo? They seem to be a good fit with zero issues so far. Done about 300km plus on them.
  7. Sorry. I'm using mavic 317 disk rims
  8. Hi all, A fellow hubber highlighted the risk of non ust tyres failing when used as tubeless earlier today and I need more info on the topic. I recently fitted a X king protection and a Race king protection(both non Ust) on my mtb, so now what? Must I k@k myself at the risk of a failure at speed? I spent a fair amount on the tyres and conversion, now I'm a little #*ssed at my LBS. Please assist!
  9. So far so good. Changed my ride completely. Haven't been able to test too much wet, but what I have found is the handling is cornering feels a lot better at speed.
  10. Hell! Are you serious? I put on my contis the other day and my LBS did not mention that risk. Do you think that even with a decent brand it would do the same?
  11. recently went tubeless and on the recommendation of a few individuals on here, I went conti X-king 2.2 in the front and Race-king 2.2 for the rear. I took the "protection" model and have yet to have a flat. Excellent cornering and a good rolling tyres. I have not looked back.
  12. Thank you all, will make a plan to service the shock with my fork
  13. hahah, Sun City - North West (not the prison in JHB)
  14. Hi All, Had my bike for a year, and it came standards with an x fusion shock. Where can I get it serviced, and how often? Thanks,
  15. Being a worthy contributor to my LBS's rent, I feel rocks when squeezing a little discount. I'm sure most of them factor in people like myself and a few others, and mark their prices up a little, so we think we are scoring all the way, and when the people with "morals" dont ask for discount, they score all the way! Give and take!
  16. Went for a ride this morning with a fellow hubber, and my bike is at my LBS, so I had to borrow my chicks entry level hard tail. Certain parts that have not hurt in ages are hurting! Must be getting soft!
  17. I bought a new Merida 1-20 800d new last year november. Full suspension with lock out on both shocks! I paid 13k and have never looked back. Just a quick word of advice. the 12k will turn into 20k, as when the bug bites, you are always "needing" some sort of mod! Good luck!
  18. I would go with the camelbak. Maybe the 1,5l I got one as a gift, and use it for all my shorter rides.
  19. I still have your brakes!
  20. I live out in the sticks, so yesterday, when loading my bike on the car before heading to the bright lights of Rustenburg, my gf asks why are you loading your bike, so my reply was a vague "something is not rite, need to get it checked out" I did not mention that my fork was not rite, and I had ordered a new one (NB: not lying, withholding information) So anyway, 4k later....no issues!
  21. Not all of us have understanding/cooperative partners... And it's not lying, it's withholding information

Do people actually not insure their bikes? A hundred bucks for peace of mind....priceless, and yes, the buggers can keep it and I hope they fall off and a truck drives over them....twice!
  23. Actually quite safe as most the Sun City staff are in the surrounding areas. I usually ride solo, but always avoid riding over payday weekend as many of the locals have had 1 to many, and rather safe than sorry! Poverty does not always equal cime!
