  1. The point is that when someone refuses you access to their land and you trespass, get caught, then moan on the net how you are removed with an escort, then no sympathy will be given. A "pro" should lead by example as many youngsters idolise figures like that. As many hubbers have pointed out, people who do not respect private land ruin it for others, and in this case, he can go back to europe and not care less, but others who do not have that privilege have to suffer because of his arrogance/actions. We have all thrown a few harsh words at the taxis speeding past stationary traffic in the yellow line, so what is different here? I don't take back my previous post, as it appears that arrogance over took common sense in this instance. To sum it up: So he may be a nice guy, great, but we have all done stupid things (including me) which we sometimes have to think about afterwards and say: "I was a w@nker"
  2. Excuse my appalling grammer and spelling above! Not that fresh this morning. I agree with DJR. My last set of upgrades cost more than I originally paid for my bike, but the upside is that my bike unique and has all the components I want, and not what came with a complete bike

  4. Had the same issue, and reveived sound advice from my lbs. Change the fork, there is nothing wrong with the x mission rear shock. I changed my rockshox recon to a rock shox SID and that has chnaged my ride completely and now my rear shock is no longer an issue. My advice is to do it the front shock first and see if that gives you what you are looking for. If not, change to tubeless(if not already done. Make you rear shock your last priority as it will probably cost you R3000 to save 100 grams.
  5. Paid R500 a tyre for protection x king and race king - in Rustenburg though
  6. must have had a looooong think about it!
  7. Unfortunately I'm one of the twats on the wrong end of the stick!
  8. Lets hope it improves, as we are already buggered for the next few months - I pray for no major failures or breakdowns!
  9. Had a chat to the owner of my LBS. Things are looking rather bleak with the current exchange rate as prices are going to soar! Just thought we should all be aware and know that our upgrades and mods are gonna cost a bit more!
  10. User error?
  11. had the whole debate the other day... see the thread below: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/109267-using-non-ust-tyres-for-tubeless/page__st__16__p__1519615__hl__non+ust__fromsearch__1#entry1519615 I'm running conti x king and race king protection tyres which are not UST tyres, but after extensive research, I was told that they are strong enough to withstand the forces of running tubeless. My advice on your merida tyres ... NO no no! I had similar tyres on my merida, and the quality is not that great! As someone once told me...."dont go ghetto!"
  12. My girlfriend and myself live in an area which has a massive area for safe cycling for beginners. However, my gf never makes the effort to even try to get a little fit, so we could both at least enjoy the ride. I have tried the together thing, I have tried the lets wake up with me at 4:30 to ride in the morning, and so it gos on! It shouldn't only come form one side.....give and take!
  13. Eagles - Hotel California! And even better....coming to Sun City (my valley) in March or April!
  14. my point exactly! but we won't stereotype and use the "R" word to classify certain types of cyclists!
  15. Hahahha. Is this thread for real? R20 for open tar with no busses, taxis, idiots driving while talking on cell phones, etc. And you moan!! Hahahahahahahaah! Unreal
  16. Merida agent in capetown if I remember correctly. Ask your lbs who is a merida reseller and they should be able to order for you.
  17. On Saturday, I entered into the Sundown Ranch (15km from Sun City) MTB race and was pleasantly surprised. As it was their first race they had ever put together, I really wasn't expecting much, but the routes were well marked, varied terrain, a few decent climbs, good game viewing and a friendly atmosphere. The field was rather small (approx 30 riders), but the venue has potential. The management/owners are going to start cutting single track into the bush, and are in the process of putting a number of routes together, and are open to suggestions. I would reccommend that fellow mtb hubbers visiting Sun City over December, give them a call and arrnage access. Let me know too, and i'll probabaly join (i'm based at Sun City) Well done to them.
  18. For a second I thought this was a "Tunariaan" thread with the amount of abuse been slung.
  19. The hub is the only place for advice! I was shown how to spend my last tax refund! And how I'm loving that new shock
  20. Well, happy Friday all! Why doesn't the OP just buy a new bike when he gets to his destination! Problem solved!! Thank me later!
