  1. Is that R2499 or R24,999?
  2. I agree on the cost factor! Attending a race costs no less than R500 when I factor in petrol, entry fee and something to eat afterwards! I can't afford that every second weekend.
  3. Imho. The main reason I, like many others attend a mtb "race" is not to compete, but rather to ride somewhere you could not usually ride, spend a day with your mates, use it as an outing for the better halves and spend time outdoors. Its not about cadence, heart rate, check out my new kit, did you see my last 4 km sprint in 5 mins, my gps says we have an average speed of 32km/h so pick pick it up boys, it not to show off our freshly shaved legs and last but not least it not to have a chop measuring contests. So to sum it up, if we miss a race, we will go look for another dirt trail that will bring just as much joy and friendship!
  4. Don't forget the bell and reflectors!
  5. Happened to me once and it turned out to be a very small dent in the rim (almost invisible) and that was the weakest point of the seal......dont think I need to explain any further!
  6. Maybe some white stretchy pant to top it off?
  7. Just kidding! Congrats! hope you have many happy off road km Edit: spelling
  8. HAHAHA! Phones abroad are a lot cheaper than here, Now he wants to offer you an extra 2k to post it. People usually bargain down, not up! SCAM!
  9. Not too sure on cost and frame weight, but the entire bike weighs in at just under 13kg (not very accurate scale used) The handling is great, and the bike is very forgiving (haven't seen my @ss since Groot Marico Classic in August last year)
  10. I have a merida with alu frame. Also a 1-20 with most components upgraded as the original specs were a bit "lite" See attached pic.
  11. I started out with a hardtail which cost 4k and after the bug bit (budget breaker variety) I moved on to a dual sus which also required upgrades as I undershot there as well. It turns into a disease with the hub as your support structure and helpline! Good luck!
  12. Maybe they selling chinese rip-offs........?
  13. Is "hydro lick" when you and your chick are for like in the jakoozi at the oord and you...
  14. Merida 1-20 dual sus 120mm with a number of upgrades. Felt q920 hardtail (build in progress)
  15. Give SLUDGE a go. Just stay away from the bottle that says "roadies" on it. The dark grey one works like a bomb and doesn't seem to form clumps.
  16. Rockshox SID 120mm How my ride changed after that investment! Have a recon with a tapered steerer for sale EDIT: Cheap
  17. Was driving to 4ways early last week through harties as I live a bit out of civilisation. I passed a number of roadies who were driving in a group (max 10) who were riding side by side and were blocking traffic from passing them as it was a narrow road (same road as van gaalens) No wonder some motorists hate us and paint us all with the same brush. I should have pulled the middle finger, but i showed some constraint! Oh yeah, I did spot some white lycra!
  18. Any suggestions are welcome, it's still in the planning stages.
  19. Hi all, I'm planning a 100km gravel road training ride at the end of the month in prep for the TransKaroo Proposed date is 28 January and the idea is for a drop off and a 100km return ride to Groot Marico following a valley in which the marico river runs. For the Sunday morning there is apparently a nice 20km loop around the dam. I know a few locals there, so will also look for accommodation deals for those interested. PM if you are keen. Neil
  20. Cape Union Mart sells a mustard bath salt! (about 70 bucks for a relatively big tub) Smells great and burns like hell, but awesome stuff!
  21. Usually up at 04:30 to ride before work! Never on weekends though! they are designed for "resting"
