I had a 2011 Anthem X1 and it was a awesome bike. The only reason why I sold it was that I have to many bike (according to the wife). However...I feel that there is ALWAYS room for another Anthem and could not understand this particular LBS statement of only bringing in these bikes next year April. Thanks for everybody comments...

My point exactly!! Why would they only bring in the 2015 range in April 2015 if it about time to release the 2016 bikes??? The Anthem series is a very popular and doubt is about popularity reasons... Would anyway make inquiries with other LBS in the area.......

No doubt the 2014 Model's 27.5 is stunning bikes!!. Bought my wife one in the beginning of the year and she is very happy with that.

I was in the process to purchase a Giant Anthem Advance 2014 when i saw last week that the 2015 range had been been loaded on the various Giant Websites. Although there was not mush of a difference except for the Fork, Shock, tyres and colors I decided to wait. In the meantime I notice that there are some differences between the bike in the picture and the description of the bike. I asked my dealer regarding the differences and he informed me that he will find out from Giant as South Africa did not received any shipment of the 2015 Anthems..... Received a call from the dealer this morning. He received feedback from Giant that the Anthem Advance 2015 will only be available to South African market late April 2015 (Next Year). That is close to the time when the 2016 range will be launched??? He still don't have any answers regarding the differences on the website. Now...although I love my Anthem Bikes (Not because they are fast, but because they are so comfortable) that is enough to set my mind on another brand. I also is not sure if the dealer just told me this to get me to buy the 2014 instead and make a sale.....

Why stay with 26er if decent set of tyres becoming a serious problem. You simply can't get

I still use my trusty Giant Trans X1 26er to train during the week and still enjoy it tremendously. I converted it to a 1 X 10 and it is awesome bike to play with. The ONLY downfall these days.....Tubeless Tyres become really scares now.

I bought one for myself and one for my wife during the week at Cape Union Mart. I am REALLY impressed with this little devise and although i had a Bryton 50, this Garmin 810 is so more advanced. It is so user friendly that my wife absolute love it. Cape Union Mart knocked of a R1000.00 on each one I bought.

Thank you for the response. I got no idea if the my rear Derailer is clutch or not. I know it is a XT shadow long cage......(Giant Anthem 29er) I will found out from my LBS regarding spacers for the chain ring bolts as well chain guide.

I am probably going to ask a stupid question.....please bear with me. Can I make use of XT Middle Chain Ring (32 T) to convert it to a 1X10 Do I have to use a Chain Guard?

So what I understand I can still use my Crank, Front Derailer and Shifter and basically just need to to get the desired rings that I want to use in the front. Spacers must just be used to convert my existing crank?

My Cassette at the back is 11/36 10 Speed.

I am looking into changing my bike that is currently a 3 x 10 to 2 x 10. The Bike that I want to change is an Anthem X1 2011 model and is equipped with Shimano Deore XT Dyna-Sys (got from the web) Shifters and Shimano Deore XT front derailer. Am i correct when saying that I don't need to change anything at the back? From what I understand I will only need to change the crank and rings and that the XT shifter are compatible by one or other switch located somewhere on the shifter? What would you recommend I change to convert?

Why don't we have those type of bike shops in Durban???? Those prices is VERY reasonable!!

So...i went to Gauteng for a few days and decided to drive the route first before actually riding it with a bike. HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!! Is there actually people cycling those roads !! People drive like maniacs there and Taxi's overtake you on the left while you are already on the left hand side of the road. This while you content with thousands of other cars for a small piece of road. Needless to say..I did not even took my bike for a ride and shorten my visit very very quickly. I actually got new respect for people that stay in that area and cycle. Seriously dangerous to cycle on any of those roads.!!! Never mind bike hijackings.....the cars will take you out in no time! Suddenly I appreciate my little South Coast town with its not so busy roads and where i am spoiled with choices of awesome Mountain Bike tracks.

Is there any MTB trails on the West Rand.....

Maybe if you can assist me...where is the cradle?

Good Day I am from the KZN South Coast where cycling alone is still reasonably safe from bike hijackings act. I must be in Florida area for a good couple of days in the next week or two. I was thinking of taking my Road Bike with me and to do a few rides in the area towards Krugersdorp and maybe out on Hendrik Potgieter road just to keep the legs going. I am not really familiar with that area anymore as I left about 20 years ago. Howe safe is that area to ride alone?

Exactly what they said to me about a component (not frame)....but then i contact the manufacture overseas and got it sorted out in less than week because they was aware that there was a manufacturing fault on them. I am not to sure that XTC frames crack, but know that the 2012 (29er) Anthem frames had a common problem with frame cracking at the seat post. The 2013 frames were mush better.....

Had the same problem about three weeks ago. I had Kenda on and bubble on the side wall - Front and Back Had to replace both tyres and then realized what a mission it become to find tyres for a 26er now
