  2. 3 Olympic the biggest lot of crap ever bought!!!! Couple of my friends bought them and then I bought a pair. After I bought mine, my friends shoes packed up one by one.....and eventually mine as well. The sole separate from the shoe itself! Rather look at the First Accent, looks like better quality!
  3. I replace my Avid Elixir CR pads yesterday, not because they were worn, but purely because I lost all sense of humor with brakes that sound like steal on steal. The new pads that I bought was quite thick and even with the calipers pressed back and the adjuster completely open, there was still not enough clearance between the disk and the pads. The solution is quite simple: Take the new pads out, rub them lightly on sandpaper to take a fraction of the thickness off, put them back in and Bob is your uncle....work like a bom!
  4. Got this today from my wife.....i am super happy
  5. Eston Illovo!!!
  6. Mmmm....i just think that this is a general problem that is experience at ALL clubs. I belong to three clubs in the area and tried to ride with all of them on a regular basis, but picked up that in all three there is certain few people that form a click and the rest of the members is being treated as extra baggage. Luckily for me that is relatively safe where i cycle and can do so on my own as well. When i had enough of the clicks (which normally don't last long) I cycle on my own and when i need / feel like company I go and cycle with a club....depends on who got the best ride at that stage.
  7. .....and here i thought only in Durban we have those type of crap!!!

  9. I am sitting in the same boat and know nothing about road cycling or road bike sises. I am in the process of buying a road bike, but not sure if the bike shop sales person know as well. All my mountain bikes is medium, but notice on a road bike you get medium to large (M/L) sise as well. My length is 172 cm with leg length of 80 cm According to the online calculator my center to top tube (CT) must be 54cm. According to the Bike Shop my sise of bike is a Medium/50 cm with a top tube of 55.5 cm Another sise is M/L 53.5 cm with a top tube 57.0 cm What sise do I follow? Red or Blue I hope i make some sort of sense here...
  10. It was my first time that I ride with my GPS navigating the route and that is absolute awesome. I actually enjoyed it much that i hope there would be more races in the future that will follow Farmer Glen idea!!!
  11. Just receive confirmation from my sponsors that i will be doing the Dusi2c in a little more that a week time. Completed the Sani and did not do a lot of training afterwards......hopefully my fitness level did not drop to mush from that time.
  12. I am also not going to do the Sani next year. Although it is a awesome race, it just got tooo busy for me.

    Dusi2C

Yes, I got the Bryton 50 and take a mini sd card, but from what I understand it is Garmin Specific format or something.

    Dusi2C

I just did the Sani as well and looking for a new challenge. Got an entry so will give it bash. The only thing that I am not sure of is that the route is not marked and will be ridding on GPS coordinates. I have a Bryton GPS and the organizers recommend Garmin....I am not to sure how i am going to explain to my wife that i suddenly need a Garmin when i got my Bryton a few months ago..

    Dusi2C

Is there anybody that is doing the Dusi2C this year?
  16. Very interesting reading.... I was having the same problem last week. After the Sani i decided to strip both my bikes and clean them properly. Last week Friday afternoon i decided to assemble one for a ride on the Saturday morning. Big was my disappointment when i find that the front wheel bearing is is not turning. Since the Giant Trans was not going to be ride able, I decided to assemble the Giant Anthem for the ride. That also did not work as the back wheel bearing was making a noise. Long story short i decided to strip both bikes hubs and was pleasantly surprised how easy it is to service the DT Swis hubs. Without having bearings (Friday afternoon) i open the side of the sealed bearing and washed them out properly with solvent, re-crease and fit them again. Work like a charm, but will get bearings from bearing man and replace them rather. I will rather service my own hubs in the future....
  17. I got taken out if few years ago while ridding my motorcycle where a person (white male) made a u-turn in the road while I approaching from the opposite side. My motor bike had full lights on and all this guy could say "Sorry, I did not see you" luckily for me I just pulled away when this happen and sustained no serious injuries, but at the end of the day it can happen to anybody! I don't think we can really debate if the Taxi did see Burry, misjudge the speed Burry was traveling or any other factor that caused the this tragic event as none of us were there! The fact that the Police already charged the Taxi driver for culpable homicide show us that there is more than enough evidence to proceed with this case and to have a conviction! The sad thing is, it will not bring Burry back and will not ease the pain Burry wife, family and friends experiences through this difficult time!
  18. Only see your post now, but I am sure you came right in anyway. Umkomaas is a small town and anybody will be able to assist you with directions. I was in the forest for a few days and seen a few "unknown" cyclist there and presume (hope) you were one of them and enjoyed the forest!
  19. Hate to be the barrier of bad news, but Rocky Bay trails had been closed indefinite due to the heavy rainfall and damaged tracks. At this stage it is not know when it would be open again! I absolute love that track and hope it is soon!! If you going to be in Umkomaas Area, take note that you will have the Canonbrae Forrest with about 7-8 km of FAST and technical single track. Word of advice, if you not use to technical ridding, this track will teach you a few lessons!
  20. I agree with you!!! Our Durbs guys also need to fix our forks.....
  21. I tried it once on the helmet and let me tell you, that is crap!!! That unit don't feel heavy, but believe me after about 40km you WILL feel it. I had the problem that it keep pushing my helmet forward and after a while my neck got really tired. If i can give you advise, get yourself a bike mount and fit it to your handle bar in the front (or seat post if you like). I did not try a chest mount yet, but can think that it can work as well. Regarding accessories....you can try any big bike shop, incredible connection as well as Cape-Union Mart. They stock basically everything!
  22. Looking at this poll and just got a shock of my life. 50% of the people voted say that Fizik Gobi is the most comfortable. I used it a few times and that is the most uncomfortable saddle I ever used or even sit on. I don't even need 30km and my bum want to kill me! Toss it off my bike and replace it with a Fizik Nisene! Like sitting on the couch!
  23. I agree on this one! I got 29er Dual and would not change back to HT, but I am 100% sure there is some people with decent frames that will swap you.
  24. Sorry, I see the question was answered!
